- 3 game developers (Cocos and Unity)
- 1 3D animator
- 1 web developer (React)
- 1 QA engineer
- 1 Project Manager
- (devops and part-time mobile competency occasionally joining) 

We built a highly skinnable and configurable game engine for arcade and slot games which let out the client's design team build very custom and beautiful games with zero code! 

The project is still ongoing, we are constantly adding new features and maintaining the framework since 2018.

The client:

Enthusiast Gaming is one of the major content networks on the web. EG is a NASDAQ company with the tagline ‘Gamers live here’, and rightly so, as they provide the key information platforms for a vast part of the whole video gaming community.
EG has their own complex ad placement system, where a bidding process decides which ads show up where on their many websites. Unlike traditional DSP-s, a supply-side platform (SSP), is used to coordinate and manage the supply and distribution of ad inventories. This is run by the owner, in this case, Enthusiast Gaming.

Rollout’s involvement:

A Rollout developer has been involved with EG for more than a year now, and he had been a member of the ad tech team until two months ago, developing the ATOM Dashboard, the advert management system further.
When talking about the biggest challenges of the project, he highlights what he calls ‘the ripple effects’. You tweak one thing: how does it affect the system as a whole? The infrastructure is robust and well supported by a strong and reliable cloud presence, but it offers the opportunity for him to grow further, especially in terms of DevOps. The current industry trend seems to be that developers are more and more involved in operation as well.

Showcase is a remarkable, mobile-first NFT marketplace, which was partly built by Rollout in a wide-ranging technical partnership.

Showcase is building a digital tool that enables anyone to create their own NFT in the form of a ‘badge’. Badges can be ‘showcased’, hence the name, so they are tools for avid fans to express their support to the creator of the badge

With an extra twist, a set percentage of the price goes towards a good cause, which is chosen by the artist, so there is a definite ‘social impact’ aspect in the product as well. The marketplace is powered by their own token, the SHO.

Showcase Rolling Out

The Showcase project has been a true highlight of summer 2021 for Rollout. The mission was to build a React native mobile app with the help of two developers, one backend specialist, with some project management and product ownership support.

We’ve provided the first addition to the Showcase team. Until this point, only the two founders worked on it so far, on the tech side. So it really has been a tight, intense technical partnership in which we helped a startup idea come alive.

So this was not a “team extension” setup: we provided a full project team to complete the challenges from both product and technical perspective, e.g. on the regulations regarding the payments., and even more especially, on mobile.

Development went in two-week sprints, with our own Scrum setup utilizing several tools such us GitHub issues, GitHub Actions and Miro board. This hasn’t simply been a technical execution. We’ve built online personas and brainstormed about target audiences, segmenting user groups. We’ve truly collaborated in the evolution of the product itself.

The client:

Our client's platform is hosting 3D science simulations, which enhance university students’ learning outcomes. The platform allows engagement with the user through game-based elements that inspire them to explore science. They then apply their knowledge to solve a real-world problem within the context of a story. Inside the 3D environment of an immersive simulation, students can master curriculum-aligned theory, interact with advanced equipment, learn techniques and perform experiments.

Rollout’s involvement:

We had a 6 months project with a team of 6 professionals to scale up the old website to a new stable, robust one with maximum uptime. It has become much faster, more user-friendly, easier to maintain than the old one. Also, it has a developer-friendly codebase on top of VueJS + ContentFul.

To guarantee the high-performance webpage, we used Gridsome, a Vue-based static site generator that generates all the website pages and assets on build time.

The backend is connected to Contentful CMS but producing content is very easy to render with Gridsome. We also completed a huge challenge to migrate all the old WP content to the new backend, so the marketing and content-writing team can interact with a very user-friendly admin panel built dedicatedly to them with Contentful.

The website is hosted on Netlify and the assets are loaded from an external CDN to ensure a very fast loading time.

To ensure long-term success, our QA engineer wrote Cypress and Percy UI automated tests.

The Dev Team: 2 frontend, 1 backend, 1 manual QA tester, 1 automated QA tester besides the PO, PM and designers of the client.

What is the Netbank?

The Netbank (under NDA) is a web platform to manage your personal daily banking including account management, card management, transfers, authorization of transfers, local and foreign currency transfers, etc...

Rollout’s involvement:

In 2018, Rollout IT senior developers joined the frontend team to speed up and increase the quality of the Angular web frontend application. By improving the development process, taking care of code reviews, and replacing the imperative code with a more functional/reactive approach we helped produce a bug-free and easy-to-maintain frontend solution on time!

We also improved the estimation processes, introduced a clear application state management and several clean-code practices.

Technology: SPA architecture with Angular, Redux, RxJS, Typescript

The client:

Rollout’s involvement:
This platform can be integrated with the most popular Learning Management Systems. In 2021 3 senior NestJS/Typescript backend developers from Rollout IT joined the client's Scrum teams to take care of this integration and to improve the client's own system designed to be the new interface for their direct students and instructors. Our developers constantly improved the code reusability, stabilized the communication between microservices, built the core parts of LMS integration before the new semester started. We helped resolve production issues and implement remaining integrations and carefully took care of implementing any new requests.
