I’ve been building websites for over two decades. Like many developers, I started with Joomla, moved to Drupal when projects grew more demanding, and spent years building with WordPress.

Each platform solved the problems of its time — Joomla made websites accessible, Drupal brought flexibility and structure, and WordPress built an incredible publishing ecosystem and became the standard for content management.

But I kept asking the same question:

Why does a five-page company website need a PHP runtime, a database, dozens of plugins and constant maintenance — just to display mostly static content?

The web had become heavier than it needed to be. So I went looking for a different architecture. Today we build business websites with Astro and Cloudflare’s global edge platform — Pages, Workers, D1 and R2 where they fit.
