Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
We create websites, applications, mobile apps and custom solutions according to our clients personal needs and goals.
At AMgrade we have extensive experience with a wide range of IT and web development technologies. Each department has its own narrow specialization, which enables us to become extremely skilled in each technology and solution. Thus, by involving talented professionals into AMgrade business processes we achieve perfect results in product quality.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
I was always passionate about IT technologies and engineering. That's why I decided to start AMgrade 10 years ago. Now I'm proud of my company and teammates, as during this time we finished over 200 projects for our clients worldwide.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
All our developers and managers work in-house, only a few work remotely. You know, I prefer to have offline meetings with my team, as it helps to solve urgent issues faster. Plus it's easier for me to keep an eye on the working process when everybody is in the office.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
I think that many companies work with developers in-house. So I think there is no additional value from this business model. We add our additional value in other things like quality, speed, special approach.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We mostly work with Startups, also we have expertise in Real Estate, Healthcare and Logistic spheres. 90% of our clients are repetitve, as usually after development of MVP, they start the development of the next stages with us.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
To make an accurate estimation of the mobile app, it’s very important to have the designs and detailed functional description. For an approximate estimation, it will be enough to have general app description and prototypes.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
It all depends on the requirements, as simple app can be developed in 1 month, and a complicated one in 3-6 months.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
We have a unique approach for each project. If you need more versatility and / or specific accesses (for example, device control) - Android it the best solution. IOS will be better for standard features and nice looking UI.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
It depends on the potential users who will first test the version of MVP. You can check what devices your potential customers have and then decide what to choose.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
Native apps are more stable and easily maintainable. Cross-platform apps usually have issues when they are operating system updates. Codebase in the Hybrid app is more complicated, and a new developer will need many hours of investigation to start working on the existing codebase.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
It's simple. We calculate how much time the developer needs to spend on the development and multiply on our hourly rate.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We can work on the Time & Material basis dividing project into sprints (Agile approach) or Fixed price project ( if the client has detailed requirements). Also, we can agree on monthly rate per developer, and the developer can work as a part of the clients' team (for example client needs more devs to speed up the development of his project).
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We usually take projects from 5.000USD, but we can negotiate if the client needs help with some small features or improvements.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
$5.000 - $150.000
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
I think subscription model is the most profitable, but again, it all depends on the idea of the app.
