Complex BLE project completed and maintained with expertise and professionalism

I have been working with Himen and his iOS team led by Nik for over a year.

As a product manager who has worked with offshore teams for the past 15 years, I have had a wide range of experiences with individual developers, as well as small and large companies.

Bluepixel has distinguished themselves on multiple fronts as a great company to work with - professionally run, work hard to meet your deadlines, and above all - software development expertise. They have a strong company culture and they support their employees. The management make Bluepixel a fun place to work and they are able to retain their developers for a long time. There is also a lot of cross collaboration so developers don't get stuck, which is great for everyone.

We have a complex project with our own proprietary bluetooth device that requires being plugged into a US based vehicle, so it wasn't practical to send a device to India. Despite these challenges, we have been able to build an innovative solution.

Company culture - they treat their employees very well, which helps with retention - which is critical to any software development project

I would prefer lower pricing, but not at the cost of talent and retention

This is my first experience with Blue Pixel Tech. I found them to be professional and highly skilled in app development. I needed some tricky details in my bluetooth app. They not only understood the tricks but were happy to work closely with me to get the details just the way I wanted. Blue Pixel was able to rescue our broken app. The bluetooth portion did not work properly and used an outdated API. The Blue Pixel team extracted the old API and installed all new bluetooth code which works extremely well. In the process they installed code allowing our app to remain running in the background even if the user closes the app. This is important for some of our BLE functions. All in all a great experience working with them.

What is it about the company that you appreciate the most?

Their technical skill was more than sufficient to solve the detailed problems I presented.

They were very responsive and very fast to provide test apk files and help me troubleshoot details that I wanted to work differently

Great work, awesome support, hard-working team

We worked with BluePixel Technology on an iOS app that supported BLE communications over ModBus. Due to the pandemic situation, we were not able to provide an actual hardware device to their team to simulate the responses. However, their team worked remotely on the project and were able to solve complex BLE communication issues, while having limited access to the hardware kit.

We would highly recommend BluePixel Tech for any BLE project, as they have proven expertise and experience in the domain, and they provide good services at a fair price.

We look forward to working with them again in the future.

What was the idea behind starting this organization?

Hence Bluepixel Technologies was born with a vision of exploring Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, which was lesser known then.

What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?

We have a completely skilled team in-house. Hence we are accountable for everything that it requires to shape an idea, starting from prototyping, designing, development to testing, and maintenance of the project.

How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?

Our business model is actually a combination of these ethics – Transparency, Integrity, Reliability, and Veracity. And so we always make sure to put every possible effort to maintain these values while dealing with any business or client. Transparency is what that makes us stand apart from the mass.

What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?

We serve all the major verticals of industries worldwide with a prime focus on Healthcare, Fitness & Wearables, Home Automation, Travel & Transport, Education & E-learning, Restaurant & Café, Retail & B2B.
Most of our clients come up with fixed project requirements, so the tenure lasts until the project is deployed, and it might re-initiate when they have any new project requirements. The repetition ratio hence, is 50%.

The clarity in the scope of the project matters the most as undefined requirements or frequent changes in requirements might obstruct in determining the accurate time frame.

How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?

Compared to the backend, frontend, of course, devours less time. However, it completely depends on the complexity of the scope. Customized and intricate design can sometimes be equally time-consuming as developing backend modules.

What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?

The most important factor for selecting the right platform for Mobile Application development is to determine the target customer and geographic location. Apart from that, technology also plays a key role as it is quite essential to study the feasibility of the idea with that particular platform.

Which platform do you suggest your clients, to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?

The success of any Mobile App completely depends upon the idea behind developing it, target customers, and their geographic location. So after understanding the concept from our client, we suggest the relevant platform to them. For example, if their target region is the USA, we would recommend them to go with the iOS platform in the first place as the number of the userbase is high compared to the Android platform. And likely, if the client is looking to target Indian regions, then we would suggest choosing the Android platform first since Android OS is most widely preferred and used by Indian people.

Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?

Selecting the Operating system for developing Mobile App purely depends upon which country you want to target. Depending upon geographic region, it can be easily found out which mobile platform is more popular in that particular region. Needless to say, both Android and iOS come with their own advantages and disadvantages.
Regarding the development platform, we would recommend going with Native as it has its own benefits compared to cross-platform. Also, since the technology we deal with works best with the Native platform, we really tend more towards Native and would advise the same to everybody who’s looking to develop solutions using Bluetooth technology.

What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?

For calculating the cost of developing a Mobile Application, we focus on understanding the scope of the project, efforts, and the number of hours it would consume, the amount of resources that need to be engaged, and lastly comes the technological stack using which the App needs to be developed.

What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions, etc.)

We usually follow these two payment structures to bill our clients: “Fixed cost”, when the client has fixed project requirements, and an “Hourly basis” when the requirements are variable. However, we are flexible to follow any other payment structure depending upon the project requirements.

Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

Not really, we instead focus on understanding the project idea first and serve the client accordingly. We do not have any minimum budget requirements for a project, we have worked with Proof of Concept (POC) projects starting from the budget as low as $450.

What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?

As we do not believe in only a money-oriented business model, we have catered to projects starting from $1000 to $14,000.

Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?

If the idea behind developing the Mobile App is really innovative, then we would recommend clients to go with the Subscription-based model, which would definitely help them in generating a fair amount of revenue with time.
