Problem
Sonnen (recently aquired by Shell) is a quickly growing company operating in the renewable energy and technology sector. They are highly innovative and always look for new products, which can help their customers utilise solar energy. They came up with an idea for a car charger powered by solar energy but needed a software partner who can help them realise their dream and create an IoT device that could be controlled remotely via mobile application.

Solution
Sonnen has already delivered a succesful poject with Boldare so when it came to choosing the vendor they decided to turn to Boldare again. Boldare was approached with a task of delivering an MVP in three months just in time for an offcial pre-launch to investors and press. Boldare provided sonnen with a fully self-organizing and agile software development team, which collaborated with sonnen's inhouse backend team. The bigest challenge was creating a smart charging functionality, which varied the level of charging depending on the time of day and weather.

Results
The app was delivered in time to meet sonnen's deadlines and KPIs. The pre-launch has peaked interest among EV owners and ensured future sales success. The app allows users to control the charger remotely, check the battery level as well as switch and adjust various charging modes. Boldare continued to work on the project after the launch and currently we are scaling the app to accomadete the exponential user growth and optimize costs.

Media

When SABCO Media turned to Boldare, they had only four weeks to develop a web app and two mobile apps for Virgin Radio Oman, a brand new radio station targeting the country’s young, hip demographic. The Boldare team proposed a lean startup approach, an ideal framework when launching brand new products to the market that minimizes risks and maximizes learning based on real data. During the product workshop, the client and the team got to know the product requirements inside out and selected the core features for the MVP. In order to meet the tight deadline, each development team member worked simultaneously from day one and the product was tested daily.

The Boldare designers who created the apps’ UX and UI from scratch had to take special care to let Virgin’s strong visual identity lead their designs. Apart from the lean startup approach the development was delivered within the Scrum framework. Working increments of the product were released every week, allowing the Boldare team to deliver on time without compromising on the quality of the solution. Currently, the apps have been tested live and data gathered from real users. The analysis will serve as the basis of the second phase of development, due to start soon.
