To assist a client in product design and prototyping, a team of engineers and designers at Devomech Solutions came together to create a mechanized dental floss that would ensure proper hygiene and ease-of-use.

The team decided to equip the dental floss with a reel of thread and a reel cycling mechanism to allow reel movement. After the user is done flossing, a blade incorporated into the body can cut the thread that has been used, and replace it with a fresh one at the push of a button.

To thoroughly meet the hygiene standards expected by the client, UV light was included in the case of the floss, which sanitizes the floss thread when the product is placed inside it. Moreover, the case design also included a lid that protects the floss from external contamination.

Design, modeling, and manufacturing

• Capacity

The battery installed was big enough to last up to six months on a single charge.

• Usability

The button placement (used for thread change) maximized reachability and comfort when using the floss. The body easily fit in the hand and the case was designed having a hinged design that could be opened and closed singlehandedly.

• Power

A PCB and battery housing is made within the floss body along with a charging port inlet. Embedded contact pads and wire routing was done to provide electricity from the dental floss to the UV Light.

• Sustainability

The team minimized the points of contact of the floss with the mechanical parts through a choice of components that would not degrade over time or with repeated use.

• Prototyping

For performance evaluation, major parts of the products were manufactured, assembled, and tested for their respective functions. Required modifications were made and a final design was created that could be mass-produced.

Having been approached by a popular food chain owner in the US, a team of engineers at Devomech Solutions took up the challenge to work on an electro-mechanical portable bidet solution to fit the need of our client. Our client wanted to pursue this solution to create an inclusive restaurant environment where diners from all cultures could experience a comfortable ambiance.

Design, modeling,  and manufacturing

• Scalability

To ensure that the design would fit into all restrooms in the restaurants owned by our client, the size of the bidet was kept at 18*6 inches.

• Capacity

The tank for the bidet was designed to hold 10 liters at a time. The capacity was determined by gauging the average water consumption in a day.

• Sustainability

To reduce the operating costs, a submersible pump was used which requires little maintenance. Lithium-ion batteries were used for an optimal power-to-size ratio.

• Aesthetics

To fit the interior of the restrooms, a monochrome exterior was chosen for the bidet to complement the color of the fixtures already installed.

• Additive manufacturing

3D modeling was an iterative process and the design was tested for multiple constraints including water pressure, battery life, and pump quality before it was finalized.

Health Monitoring App is one of the best mobile application in the market that simplifies family health monitoring. It can be connected with custom Bluetooth based device with compact and accurate sensors for regular monitoring. With a vision to create a powder mixer for both professionals and beginners, our valued client engaged our team of certified engineers to create an automatic mixing solution with customizable heat settings. As part of the solution, the team also added a digital timer and temperature gauge to the mixer to allow for precision in quantity and temperature. On top, a mobile app was developed that was used to conveniently control the function especially the heating temperature of the mixer.

Product aesthetics were considered an important functionality to boast a modern and visually appealing design, guaranteed to catch the attention of the buyers.

• Usability

While the upper cup of the mixer holds the powder, the bottom cup, covered by a flexible heater, aids in heating the powder. At the same time, a stirrer continuously shakes the powder in the bottom cup to ensure it is properly heated.

• Manufacturing

The design was repeatedly examined for any weak points, and any potential issues for large-scale manufacturing were identified and fixed. Modifications were made as necessary, and a final, tried-and-true version that could be produced in mass quantities was created.

The powder mixer has been designed to be as compact as possible while still maintaining its functionality. This allows the users to transport the mixer to various locations as needed.

To create a modern laundry machine design, our valued client reached out to engage our electrical and mechanical engineering teams so that their users have the capability to dry their washed clothes with utmost ease without having to hang them in open air or dedicating a separate room in the house for laundry. This was in response to the problems faced by users who use conventional washing machines which mostly require separate spin dryers, or use dryers which discharge water while drying, hence creating the need to be placed into a dedicated laundry area.

• Integrated function

Instead of a separate heater, a dryer was intelligently placed inside the washing machine which converted cold air to hot to dry clothes without any water discharge.

• Usability

Using modern mechanical assembly techniques and special vibration control materials, the team successfully reduced the noise created by the machine. Given that the machine can work without a continuous water source the user is free to place it anywhere required.

• Sustainability

The filtration system fitted inside the washing machine allowed used water to be stored, filtrated and then reused, hence eliminating the need for a continuous water source and making it environmentally friendly. Moreover, a BLDC motor was used to save energy.

It is an automated teller machine where you can deposit, withdraw and view your transactions anywhere anytime. It is a smart safe that is easy to use, more secure, fast processing and supports multiple currencies. It is specially designed for restaurants to digitalize the cash flow and reduce discrepancies.

Bond e Shams

It is a custom-designed water monitoring system that can monitor TDS and flow rate in real-time. The system is designed and manufactured by Devomech Solutions. Being locally manufactured reduces the dependency of our client firm (Bond e Shams) on imported products. It also provides the flexibility of posting the live data on the client’s internal server with a dashboard to monitor the water quality and consumption at all free drinkable water facilities spread across Pakistan and abroad.

Trying to perfectly cook a whole chicken, turkey or any problematic cut of meat can be frustrating and time-consuming. Having established a start-up, our client was looking for a partner to design a cooker that could offer the right functionalities to prepare meat perfectly.

Different kinds of meat dishes require different temperatures to be perfectly cooked from the inside. While an oven would cook the meat from the outside, the client’s vision was to create a nonstick cookware insert also known as the Core Cooker that could pierce through the meat and allow the heat to penetrate, to achieve the desired tenderness from the inside as well.

• Dimension

The body of the core cooker was designed so that a high-power heater could fit into the limited space. Moreover, the heater had to be intelligently placed into the cooker so that the heat could penetrate into the meat evenly.

• Usability

The nonstick cooker was designed to have sharp curves so that it could easily be inserted into the meat. To compliment the core cooker, an alternative part/insert was also added to the product for meat that already had hollow cavities and didn’t need the piercing functionality. In addition, a digital timer and temperature gauge were included in the product to ensure that both professionals and beginners could easily select the right mode/temperature.

• Prototyping

The team successfully created the design, renderings, and animation so that the client could pitch his idea directly to investors. All 2D and 3D manufacturing design files with required tolerances were delivered to the client.

• Safety

Since the cooker was powered by an electrical cord, the team chose a high-temperature food-grade material for the cord so that it could sustain the high temperatures.

A large-scale manufacturer of massagers engaged with a team of mechanical and electrical engineers at Devomech Solutions to optimize the vibration frequency for the release of the next model. The vibrations, which were previously also felt in the handle, had to be limited to just the head of the massager to achieve the desired comfort to the end-user. To enhance the utility of the massager, the client also suggested that the revamped solution should be a cordless device with an aesthetically appealing design.

Capacity

To ensure a longer life cycle, the team designed a robust internal mechanism that would allow the new product to work for 500 hours in a lifetime. A high-power motor was also included and constant revolutions of the motor were maintained to avoid any imprecision in therapy.

Ergonomy

A compact solution with a high energy-to-density ratio was created with ergonomically designed grips to offer a sweat-free clutch. The design was customized to be wireless to ensure a nice hold for the end-user.

Usability

The vibration was restricted to the head of the massager to ensure the therapist would not feel any discomfort. The massager’s head was intelligently designed to access every tissue of the body to recuperate energy reserves in the muscles.

Manufacturing

The team played an advisory role to recommend appropriate manufacturing methods to align with the product functionality. The team also coordinated with the manufacturers to get the parts manufactured using CNC and injection molding.

Safety

A cooling system was installed to prevent any unnecessary damage to the device. Moreover, an efficient damping mechanism was developed to avoid vibrational impact on the handle and the PCB circuit board.

Scalability

The solution is being sold to chiropractors on a large scale by our client.
