Koha Solutions is building Modern Koha — a scalable, AI-powered library technology platform that combines Koha Cloud with artificial intelligence, RFID, robotics, and modern automation to transform traditional libraries into intelligent, automated environments.

Our goal is to modernize Koha beyond traditional library management software by

integrating emerging technologies directly into everyday library operations. We are developing AI-powered tools for cataloging, Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), intelligent search, voice search, recommendations, library assistants, data analysis, and workflow automation.

Our platform also integrates RFID technology to automate library operations such as identification, circulation, inventory management, tracking, and self-service workflows. We are extending these capabilities toward robotic automation, including automated book sorting, transportation, shelving, and other physical library workflows.

Koha Cloud provides the underlying scalable SaaS infrastructure, allowing libraries to use Koha without managing their own servers, updates, backups, security, hosting, email infrastructure, and other technical requirements. Multiple libraries can operate securely as independent tenants on a centralized platform, reducing infrastructure complexity and making modern library technology easier to deploy and scale.

The platform also provides integrated services and infrastructure including Z39.50, SMTP, Firebase notifications, Google login, automated backups, hosting, and technical support.

Our vision is to build the next generation of library technology: a Modern Koha ecosystem where AI, RFID, robotics, cloud infrastructure, and automation work together to make libraries smarter, more efficient, and increasingly autonomous.

The platform is already operating in production with 20+ libraries and approximately three years of development and operational experience. We are building on this foundation to expand Modern Koha to libraries and educational institutions globally.
