The Labrys team will work with any client, large or small, enterprise or startup to meet their unique blockchain or software development needs. We’ve worked alongside some of Australia’s most innovative companies and have utilised blockchain across multiple industries. From healthcare to fintech and even at a government level, we’ve designed, developed and deployed solutions to optimise, secure and improve information systems using blockchain.
Key Clients:
NEM Foundation - We are developing the Trezor Wallet integration for NEM's Catapult Desktop Wallet
Primary Markets - We've designed, architcted, developed and deployed a custom private blockchain platform to manage unlisted shares and investments. The platform, known as Primary Ledger, is currently live with over $200 million worth of assets trading on it.
Secure Health Chain - We are currently developing Australia's first blockchain based health passport and connected Marketplace. Once live, Australian's will have the option to own and control access to their medical data. The Marketplace allows users to profit off their valuable medical data by making it available for purchase by research centres.
SharperMinds.ai - Labrys is working closely with the team at SharperMinds.ai to develop Nansen, a web application aimed at bringing life management and identification assets to the blockchain for individuals in developing countries.

Look forward to working together again soon!
Amazing team, and really great quality code

We’ve worked with businesses of all shapes and sizes, from month-old start-ups, to federal governments, to multinational organisations. Labrys is your go-to company for anything blockchain.
I’m Lachlan, Co-founder and CEO of Labrys. My role within the company is to make sure everyone is working together effectively.
I ensure that software teams are working towards high-quality products that get built on-time and on-budget and ensuring that internal business teams are dedicating their resources in the right areas.
One of my favourite parts of the role is getting to work with new clients each day. We've been lucky to work on so many amazing projects at Labrys, but my favourite would have to be working alongside NEM and Trezor to integrate the NEM Catapult Wallet with Trezor Hardware devices.
Many of the clients we've worked with, have switched mid-project away from other software development agencies to Labrys as they were unsatisfied with the quality of the product being delivered to them.
Most of our competitors are based overseas or outsource their work overseas which almost always decreases the quality of the end product, as we've witnessed time and again. Building great software is very challenging. It requires expert project management, high-quality code, continuous testing and lots of experience.
At Labrys we pride ourselves in the quality of the product that we deliver, and we can deliver this by ensuring that development is done here in Brisbane by some of Australia's top blockchain developers.
Our clients at Labrys provide a great amount of repetitive work for us. Most of our clients have engaged us for more than one project and love coming back to add new features to their products as their businesses grow. Our clients appreciate that we package up all our work at the end of each project so that should they want to, they can easily take their intellectual property to other software agencies and pick things up with ease, yet none do.
- They are looking for blockchain expertise
- They are looking for blockchain efficiency
Clients looking for our blockchain expertise will approach us with nothing more than an idea. We will provide our expertise to walk the client through, from start to finish, turning that idea into a working, physical, commercial product. This process may involve the following services:
- Discovery Workshops
- Feasibility Assessments
- User Interface/User Experience Design
- Solution Architecture
- Proof of Concept Development
- Minimum Viable Product Development
- Smart Contract Development
- Blockchain Consulting
- Blockchain Integrations
- Private Blockchain Development
- Security Token Development
- Smart Contract Development
- API Development
- Front-end Development
- Bug Fixes
- Third-Party Blockchain Integrations
We have also worked on some projects on the Hyperledger platform, though this is requested less frequently than Ethereum. At Labrys, we are trying to expand the number of blockchain platforms we build on and are always ready for the challenge of building on a completely new system.
We believe that keeping up with and adopting new frameworks and methodologies is key to enabling the repeated success of our client's projects.
- MongoDB NoSQL database
- Express.js middleware
- React.js frontend framework
- Node.js backend framework
The MERN stack is one of the most popular web development stacks in the world, meaning that the client will be able to easily take their project to other software companies or hire internal developers that will already be familiar with the stack and be able to pick it up.
Bitcoin has been the only open-source decentralised protocol, in this sense, that has been around long enough to analyse, whereas many of the others are still in their infancy. 10 years ago, most people laughed at Bitcoin or ignored it altogether and certainly didn't understand the value in the blockchain technology behind it.
Today, Bitcoin is still not that widely adopted, but it is no longer ignored, instead many of the companies that tried to laugh it off, including central banks and large retail and investment banks are now building their own cryptocurrencies to compete with Bitcoin.
I suspect over the next 10 years we will see much of the same reaction from industry to other open-source, decentralised protocols and eventually see them become widely adopted.
The prospect of moving towards a decentralised future, where individuals own and control their own data, is incredibly exciting and something we constantly strive for at Labrys.
Over time, the most popular blockchains will need to upgrade their transaction throughput to achieve mainstream adoption.
There are already many great on-chain and off-chain solutions in development. I believe that on-chain scaling solutions are preferable to off-chain solutions, however, only when it doesn’t compromise the decentralisation and immutability of the blockchain.
The number of integrations involved in a project can also affect pricing. When building the whole solution internally, we have a very clear understanding of the software we are building and how it works. When you introduce external integrations to the project, it adds new variables and potential problems to the project thus increasing the cost and time required to deliver the project.
Finally, the other major factor is the time required to deliver a project. If the client wants the project delivered quickly then it may require additional resources and costs compared to if the client has more time available to them.
In some cases where Labrys is provided with the resources to effectively plan out the solution in advance of starting development, we can engage in fixed-cost arrangements. However, these fixed-cost arrangements can be very inflexible when changes to the scope come up and additional features are suggested throughout the project.
2019 has been an incredibly exciting year for the team at Labrys and we look forward to working with some amazing partners to produce stand-out blockchain products in 2020.
