What Users Like The Most

We were impressed with the quality of both their management and individual programming capabilities. Not only does NaNLABS have an extremely capable group of senior level managers who were easily able to understand our project needs and recommend architectural enhancements, the individual members of our team were exceptionally capable. This was a difficult thing for us to find in an industry where most assigned resources are either very junior, or lacking in relevant project experience.
We have found the level of passion for the project and creativity has far exceeded expectations. Meeting spec sheets and release features was my normal expectation. With this group, the level of professionalism and infectious energy keeps us going even during the inevitable periods of doubt and question. They are problem solvers and risk spotters.
We had direct contact with developers. They were all involved and committed to our project. Their talent is exceptional and always had a strong relationship with their leadership team. Leadership team is very keen to take feedback and find ways as to how to collaborate and deliver better results.

What Users Like The Least

Most of the challenges we faced were due to the nature of our preexisting code, or the hasty departure of our previous development partner. NaNLABS did a great job of managing through that chaos and installing an effective team very quickly.
We would love it if Argentina was closer to our home base.
Not really. Along the way, we had some minor issues that were discussed and addressed quickly.

They were flexible when we had different ideas for implementation. They did a really good job of researching tools online. Even if they weren’t aware of a certain kind of toolset or engine or library, they researched them quickly and were able to incorporate them. They have a very high learning skill level. When we came across something they had not done before, it wasn’t an issue. They covered the gap within days.

What was it about the company that you didn't like which they should do better?

Nothing stands out. They’re based in Argentina. It’s a foreign country and for payments, you have to do an international wire transfer. It’s little details like that. That’s not a problem, but if they had a U.S. entity or some sort of mechanism to work within the U.S., that would be a little easier.

NaNLABS’ team quality is high, and their output is good. They’ve been quick to bring on multiple people who have very swiftly understood a fairly complex system. I’ve worked with providers where that was not the case, so NaNLABS’ ability to source talent distinguishes them from others.

What was it about the company that you didn't like which they should do better?

NaNLABS has an interesting approach to how they model some of their developers, where some resources come as a unit, which is fair. However, this introduces cost and complexity because it’s a rigid system. Although I wouldn’t say they’re inflexible, this has definitely prevented us from continuing with a resource we may have wanted to keep working with. On the other hand, this might be what makes their team work well across the company, so it’s a cost-benefit aspect I can’t really speak to. Still, it would be ideal for me to more easily scale a team up or down without dealing with ramifications across the rest of the development team.

I've been very impressed with the individual engineers and their commitment to understanding the needs and desires of the project as a whole. They all show a desire to build quality solutions, not just execute the work.

What was it about the company that you didn't like which they should do better?

We worked with an engineer who was not actually an internal employee of NaNLABS, but a subcontractor. That experience did not go well and was a little surprising, given the positive experience with a majority of the rest of the team.
