We hired 3 QA engineers to provide us with full-cycle QA services. In addition to classic functional and non-functional testing, we wanted the testers to focus on usability (UI/UX), regression, and integration testing types. Our application was tested on different web platforms (Web, macOS, Windows, Linux, and Chrome Extensions). Technologies used on the project included Golang, MongoDB, Redis, MySQL, REST API, React, Electron, AngularJS, Node.js, CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, and Jenkins. As a result, we received a polished software system that now works perfectly with all the 28 third-party integrations and is absolutely intuitive in use. The QA project was organized by Agile methodology with weekly reporting. Summing up, our experience with TestFort was very pleasant and effective for our product.

Country: United States

Our client for this project is a US-based technology company serving the architecture and construction industry. With a growing ecosystem of digital tools, mobile applications, and product microsites, the company helps manufacturers, designers, and contractors manage and distribute building product data more efficiently across multiple platforms and partners.

Project Duration: 7+ years

Team Composition: 2 Manual QAs

Challenge

When we joined the project, the client had a growing ecosystem of web platforms, mobile apps, and embeddable modules, but their QA processes hadn’t scaled with it. Most products lacked test documentation, and testing coverage was inconsistent or missing. Issues like performance drops, broken user flows, and design mismatches made it into production. Some modules included legacy code that no one on the client side could fully explain, which complicated testing and bug fixing.

The core challenge was scale and interdependence. Dozens of interconnected products shared APIs, user data, and services, meaning a change in one could break another. With no automation at the time and only one internal QA, regression testing was time-consuming and risky. Tight deadlines, unclear requirements, and late design changes only increased the pressure. We stepped in to bring consistency, structure, and reliability to their QA process, and help the client scale without sacrificing quality.

Solutions

To improve the client’s fragmented QA process, we embedded our specialists directly into their agile teams. Early efforts focused on clarifying requirements, streamlining communication, and ensuring each feature was well-documented and testable. We also established a more structured, consistent approach to testing across the ecosystem.

Our QA strategy combines manual and automated methods tailored to each product. We maintained test documentation, built regression test suites, and automated critical paths. For complex or high-risk features, we ran exploratory sessions to catch hidden issues. We also performed security, performance, and compatibility testing to ensure smooth cross-platform operation.

Over time, our team became the client’s primary QA force — defining priorities, identifying risks early, and helping eliminate release-day surprises.

Key testing types and activities included:

⏩ Manual testing of new features and releases

⏩ Full-cycle regression testing

⏩ Cross-device and cross-browser compatibility checks

⏩ Security and access control validation

⏩ Test documentation and scenario development

⏩ Exploratory testing of high-risk modules

⏩ Load and performance testing

⏩ Functional API testing

⏩ Integration testing across connected services

Recognizing the need for faster regression cycles, we proposed introducing automated testing. The client approved this initiative, and we are currently implementing automation using Playwright and TypeScript to cover the most critical functionalities, with plans to expand coverage gradually.

Results

Our ongoing collaboration has steadily enhanced the client’s product quality and release efficiency. Through improved test coverage, streamlined processes, and the introduction of automation, we have significantly reduced risks and accelerated delivery timelines, enabling the client to confidently expand their ecosystem without compromising on stability or user experience.

CHALLENGE

The client reached out to us with a request to provide a dedicated team for quality assurance and testing of their new mobile application. The client is a US-based company, one of the world’s biggest online retailers with over 30k natural supplements and personal care products they ship to millions of customers in more than 150 countries. The numbers keep growing on a daily basis, so the client wanted their new mobile application to be able to effectively handle the company’s rapid growth.

Since the app is planned for release on web, iOS, and Android, our team had to make sure the new version provides flawless functionality and an aesthetically pleasing, enjoyable experience across all target platforms, languages, as well as shipping and payment methods.

SOLUTION

TestFort provided the company with a dedicatedQA and testing team experienced in e-commerce solutions. The team synergized with in-house devs in no time using Jira as a bug tracking solution and started on the tasks. The team carried out requirements analysis, test design, test execution, and prepared defect reports.

Our engineers conducted seven different types of testing, including functional, regression, and usability testing, to find and eliminate the issues and inconsistencies in the app’s back end and front end. We applied Dr. James Whittaker’s Exploratory Testing Tours technique which helped us locate and fix some critical bugs during exploratory testing. We also performed cross-platform and cross-browser testing to check for inconsistencies and used Charles Proxy as a proxy server for web debugging.

TECHNOLOGIES

Types of testing performed:

✅ Regression testing

✅ Cross-browser testing

✅ Functional testing

✅ Usability testing

✅ Exploratory testing

✅ Smoke testing

✅ Confirmation testing

RESULT

The project started six months ago and is still ongoing. We keep standing on guard of the app’s quality with proactive QA and testing activities. Every iteration undergoes thorough QA reviews, regression and other kinds of testing. Our team keeps track and documents every error to ensure exceptional maintainability of the app’s codebase, seamless performance, and enjoyable user-centric experience.

As the app is being constantly improved and added with new features, TestFort makes sure nothing can prevent the retailer’s customers from shopping for natural products from the convenience of their mobile devices.

🔸 Challenge 🔸

The client approached QArea looking for a dedicated testing and QA team for their print on-demand mobile application. The company was gearing up for rapid growth and a significant expansion of their product line, and it was important that the same, high level of product quality was maintained even during the faster release cycle.

The service is constantly rolling out new items to its print shop, allowing users to print on well over 1k different physical products with over 1m different design and layout options.

Moreover, since the client’s service was available as a web, iOS, and Android application, the team had to conduct testing across multiple platforms.

🔸 Solution 🔸

QArea provided the client with a dedicated manual and automated testing team, complete with a Project Manager. The team integrated seamlessly with the client’s in-house and remote developers. The team and PM participated in daily stands, weekly Scrum meetings, and completed their testing and QA tasks in tandem with the client’s 2-week sprint schedule.

Over the course of the project, the team completed functionality, smoke, stress, regression, and cross-platform testing.

For cross-platform testing our team used physical phones, tablets, and desktop computers of various makes and models. Over 30 iOS and Android devices were used for testing to ensure the application’s flawless performance on both flagship and older devices.

🔸 Results 🔸

Our work with the client continues and has been ongoing for several years. The client’s dedicated team consists of 10 people and is led by a dedicated project manager. Automated testing with the client began 1.5 years ago, and the extent of testing automation for the project is set to expand over the next 6 months.

CHALLENGE

Throughout the years of running the company’s official website, our client has implemented a lot of changes in its code in order to keep up with the technology updates and trends. We were required to check the website’s codebase to see how it performs in terms of data processing and synchronization. As for the front-end, we had to review the UI and its accessibility for the client’s target audience ― elder people searching for care.

Before reaching out to us for quality assurance, our client decided to implement a new database for the website. Thus, they needed to synchronize the previously gathered data with the new storage. The website architecture had manual synchronization only, and we were asked to find a way to automate it without forcing too many drastic changes to the codebase.

SOLUTION

To meet the set objectives, we developed a QA plan consisting of manual and automated practices. Namely, we used Java to write the automated test cases, as well as TestNG, Extent Report, and Selenium WebDriver testing tools to implement them. Altogether, these allowed us to effectively test back- and front-end sides of the product by running it through multiple cases that at times had up to 30 steps. The project was organized using the behavior-driven development methodology that focuses more on the business side of software instead of the technical one. The project team consisted of five people ― automation QA engineers, manual testers, and a QA lead.

We performed:

🔸 Automated and manual testing

RESULT

The quality assurance services we delivered allowed our client to discover the room for further improvement of his site. Proven industry experts from our team conducted the most thorough analysis of the website’s codebase, optimized it for the adequate data processing and updates, and polished user interface as per recent UX/UI standards.

CHALLENGE

Our client, the owner of a Japan-based crypto trading platform, released a modernized version of his web application and wanted us to thoroughly test it. The aspects we were to check included UI/UX, blockchain platforms integration, security, and the app’s response to even the most unusual case scenarios.

The main challenge we faced during the project was the technical complexity of cryptocurrency trading platforms backend. Before getting to work, we had to examine not only the client’s product but the third-party solutions like Ethereum and Stellar integrated with it. Also, the client’s project had no documentation, so we created it from scratch both for the QA process and as a part of post-development maintenance.

SOLUTION

The team of four QA engineers (middle- and senior-level experts and a tech lead) tested the updated version of the client’s platform using Chrome and Firefox web browsers on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android operating systems. We used regression, and exploratory testing types for the projects, which covered QA for usability, UI/UX, security, performance, and integrations fit into the platform. The communication with the client was organized with Microsoft Teams digital workplace and regularly took place every two weeks (equal to one sprint). Other than classic manual testing, we also used the Netsparker web scanner for in-depth checks.

We performed:

🔸 Regression testing

🔸 Exploratory testing

🔸 UI/UX testing

🔸 Security testing

🔸 Performance testing

RESULT

Our team managed to improve the usability of the platform and discover the need to implement a few changes to the project’s codebase for security matters. As for today, we continue to work with the client as a full-time distant Quality Assurance department to timely check all the changes his development team implements in the project.

Media

The Huffington Post is an American liberal news website and aggregated weblog, featuring various news sources and columnists. The site covers a wide range of topics, including sections devoted to politics, entertainment, media, living, business, and the green movement. The Huffington Post was launched on May 9, 2005, as a commentary outlet and liberal alternative to conservative news aggregators like the Drudge Report, and has expanded to cover news of politics and many other things.

We had to test a news portal and make sure it’s capable of sustaining heavy and peak loads and ensure convenience for both visitors and authors of the entries. We needed to assure high performance of several data storages including MongoDB and MySQL for stable comment section operation.

Test Plan included Manual and Automated functional testing based on Selenium, Regression, Black-box testing, and generation of all needed reports and testing documentation.

Types of testing performed:

🔸 Manual testing

🔸 Automated testing

🔸 Functional testing

🔸 Configuration testing

🔸 Regression testing

HuffPost successfully operates as one of the most popular portals in the USA and has been featured on the main page of Yahoo several times. The site performs impeccably with the average load of 200+k visitors per hour. The iOS client for The HuffPost news system works perfectly as well.

Country: United States

Client ↘️

Dashlane is a leading user-friendly password manager and a secure digital wallet that provides a high level of protection and offers an effective solution to password fatigue. The app’s key feature, which makes it different from other password managers, is a password changer. It enables users to securely synchronize their data among an unlimited number of devices on all platforms. Dashlane Password Manager also has breach alerts that notify users of any possible security hazards.

Before

❎ Fully updated application

❎ New localization added

❎ Strict security requirements

❎ Slowed-down release cycle

After

✅ All new functionality tested

✅ 7 new localizations verified

✅ Security protocols implemented

✅ Faster releases using Agile

Project duration: 10+ years

Team composition: 1 Project Manager, 1 QA Team Lead, 10 QA Engineers

Challenge

The key objective of the project was verifying that the app would ensure top-notch quality of the features with the release of new mobile devices, updates of OS, browsers.

The key challenges included:

🔸 Maintaining the security level;

🔸 Testing full redesign of the app on all the platforms;

🔸 Testing of enhancements: new languages have been added to the app (English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Japanese), and this led to a broader array for test coverage;

🔸 Implementation and stabilization of the password changer feature that makes Dashlane different from other password managers.

Solution

Before we got to any actual testing, we had to implement a new workflow that would ensure closer collaboration with the development team, as well as help speed up the release cycle to better keep up with the competition. Together with other project stakeholders, the most suitable solution was found – Agile methodology.

We used Redmine, Jira, Kanban, and Scrum to meet specific and flexible demands of the project and achieve comprehensive results. Zephyr was used to create test suites and test cycles. We used HockeyApp (Android and iOS), SharedBox, and TestFlight (iOS) to deploy builds for testing.

As the project progressed, we felt like the initial selection of tools no longer fully fit the sophisticated testing needs of our team. That is why custom tools were created to work specifically on the project, maximize productivity, and meet demands of the project.
