Reliable Web Development Firm!
Executive Interview of Unicrew

Tural Mamedov
CEO and Co-Founder
Please introduce your company and tell us about your role in the company?
Artelogic is a full-scale web and software development company which provides a full spectrum of development services - from web development to quality assurance. Over the course of seven years of engineering experience, we have delivered more than 100 projects that eventually turned into successful businesses around the globe that have contributed to the overall growth of our clients.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
The main reason to start a software development company back in 2012 was to bring a different approach to the industry with a human-oriented tech company that would make having a personal relationship with the clients and their business priorities one of the core pillars. We wanted to build a company that would treat clients’ challenges and goals, not just as another project but as an opportunity to deliver real solutions to real people.
What is your company’s business model – in house team or third party vendors/outsourcing?
Artelogic is an in-house-based company with approximately 50 professionals on board and with the majority of our engineers having credible certifications. This approach helps us to build up outstanding professional expertise as well as deliver high-quality results. Thanks to this, Artelogic has been recognized several times by independent industry resources as a leading software development house.
How is your business model beneficial to the clients from a value addition perspective compared to other companies’ models?
Our core value proposition, compared to other vendors, is our flexibility and readiness to offer transparent yet personal collaboration concepts. Depending on individual needs and business types, our clients can choose the engagement model that fits their business objectives most efficiently. The benefits for our clients are quite obvious - shorter delivery timelines for strategic initiatives, access to the pool of skilled IT professionals, cost-effective IT operations, and an opportunity to focus on business development rather than on IT management. We believe that client success is the sole service we’re offering and, for sure, it’s the only one we expect to be rewarded for.
What industries do you generally cater to? Do you often have repeat clients?
Artelogic’s engineering expertise is not industry-specific, but the top vertical markets which we work with the most are in the areas of logistics as well as the transportation, FinTech, retail, and healthcare industries. We heavily invest in building relationships with our clients and pursue only long-term partnerships.
Discuss the objectives or the parameters that are most critical in determining the time frame of developing a web app.
Two main things are required to accurately estimate the efforts that would be needed to deliver any web application. The first one is the professionally documented software requirement specification, also called SRS, which will constitute the scope of the use; and the second is the experience of a software development partner in a particular domain and technology.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a web app?
Every project is unique in its scope, and so are the efforts required to deliver it to completion. Surely, plans with more sophisticated user experience designs will require more time and resources to be invested into front-end. Other projects, in particular, applications designed to automate operational processes with little focus to UI, will consume more time and resources on the back-end.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a web application?
To select the right platform, you have to think ahead of time and be aware of all of the non-functional requirements (quality attributes, in other words) your application has to meet. The software architecture has to be simple yet easily scalable and maintainable. We all know that nowadays anything can be written in anything. However, when it comes to scaling, - make the right choice, and your project will flourish, however, with the wrong choice, you may experience pitfalls combined with severe financial troubles. Make sure you give significant consideration and conduct a proper analysis before selecting the technologies and the particular platform for your project. Essentially, we suggest checking all the pros and cons of the chosen tech stack concerning the prioritized quality attributes of your application.
Which platform and technologies do you prefer to use in the development of your web apps?
In Artelogic, we work primarily with ASP.NET, PHP, Laravel, JavaScript, Node.js, React and a range of other major front-end frameworks. In our technology preferences, we are usually solution-driven rather than technology, which means that our platform choice will likely depend on individual project and business objectives.
Do you offer website design templates or customized website design, and do you have a responsive website design?
We offer professional design services as an integral part of our software development services since we believe that nowadays user experience turns to be one of the main criteria determining the success of any product or application.
Which Content Management System do you prefer to use (Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.)?
We have quite an extensive experience working with WordPress and quite often use it in marketing and content-oriented projects.
Do you provide website maintenance services?
Yes, Artelogic provides maintenance services as part of the long-term support we guarantee to all our clients. Any custom software, including web apps, requires further maintenance and support services after it has been designed and released to the market. The types of issues that arise in the process of exploitation are hugely varied have to be addressed by qualified personnel on time.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding on the cost of a web application?
We are very transparent in our cost assessments and usually take into consideration many factors, such as project scope, complexity, technology stack, timelines, compliance requirements, etc. We know that each business is unique to the same degree as individuals, so we do our best to come up with tailored offers addressing the vital needs of the leading business types.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We are quite flexible in terms of billing and quite often offer personalized models to individual clients about their goals and needs. Our first approach is based on the Time & Materials terms.
Do you take in projects which meet your essential budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, what is the minimum budget you have worked for?
The minimum project size we usually contract on is about 10,000 USD, but sometimes we do consider projects with lower budgets that have a fascinating idea behind them. You know, we are still all people here, and we are quite often interested in a brilliant and dynamic opportunity.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you worked on in 2018?
In 2018, we successfully delivered projects in the price range from 8,000 to up to 200,000 USD.
