Please provide your feedback on how Goofirms has contributed to increasing your visibility among potential clients.
Goodfirms has helped increase our visibility by giving potential clients a clear and independent signal of our credibility. Being ranked as the number one AI company in Switzerland has supported some of our early conversations with prospects. It has also helped us show our track record to new audiences who may not yet know our work.
Please introduce your company and describe your role within the organization.
I’m Alen Arslanagic, the founder & CEO of Visium. Visium is a leading AI company transforming the Life Sciences and Specialty Chemical sectors. Founded in 2018 as an ETH Zurich spin-off, Visium empowers organizations to unlock transformative and sustainable impact through AI.
With deep AI and domain expertise, Visium partners with global organizations across their entire value chain, from R&D to Manufacturing and Commercial.

Our offerings include strategic AI advisory for executives, end-to-end implementation programs, and a purpose-built AI platform to tackle high-stakes agentic workflows in Life Sciences, such as Regulatory Document Writing and Deviations Management.
What inspired the founding of your company, and what is the story behind its inception?
Back in 2015, we started playing around with the early deep learning models on image generation when it became apparent how big a gap there was between the state of the art of technology and how companies were operating. That is when we founded Visium to support enterprise companies in implementing and scaling AI solutions across their operations.

Fast forward to today, and we have a team of over 70 talented AI engineers and    AI strategists working on some of the most cutting-edge and mission-critical use cases, from drug discovery to live banking transaction monitoring for fraud.
What are the core values and principles that drive your company's culture, and how do you ensure alignment with these values across your team?
Our culture is built on five core values: Excellence, Ownership, Growth Mindset, Integrity, and Empathy. These values guide how we work, how we collaborate, and how we build AI solutions that create real and responsible impact.
Excellence drives us to raise the standard in everything we deliver. Ownership means every team member stands behind their work and takes responsibility for the outcomes. A growth mindset pushes us to learn and improve every day. Integrity ensures that we do the right thing, even when it is difficult or unobserved. Empathy keeps us grounded in the needs of people, clients, and end users. Integrity ensures that we do the right thing, even when it is difficult or unobserved. To ensure alignment, we embed these values into every part of our organisation. They shape how we hire, how we evaluate performance, how we run client partnerships, and how we make decisions. We also reinforce them through our ethical framework and our independent Ethics Committee, which helps us apply these principles in practice, especially across sensitive industries like healthcare and life sciences. This creates a culture where accountability, transparency, and responsible innovation are not slogans but daily habits.
Can you highlight some of the key achievements or milestones your company has accomplished since its inception?
Since our inception, we have focused on delivering AI solutions that create measurable value for industry leaders. One of our most significant achievements is our work in pharma and healthcare.
One of the current initiatives that we are working on is supporting a leading global company in strengthening its drug discovery pipeline. Our team has built AI systems that generate, evaluate, and rank molecular candidates, predict their stability, and guide selection across the end-to-end process. This work is part of a multi-year strategic partnership that is poised to shorten development cycles, reduce costs, and help bring life-saving treatments to patients faster.

We have also helped large engineering organisations transform the way they build software. By integrating AI Agents across the development lifecycle and training teams to adopt them effectively, we have enabled up to 40 percent productivity gains. For companies with more than a thousand engineers, this creates a direct and scalable business impact. Beyond individual engagements, the foundation of our success is our team. We have brought together exceptional talent with backgrounds in machine learning, data engineering, and applied sciences, including many with dual degrees from leading institutions. Their expertise, curiosity, and commitment to responsible innovation have allowed us to tackle highly complex problems with confidence and rigor.

Together, these achievements have helped us deliver more than 250 AI and data solutions and have contributed to Visium being ranked as the number one AI company in Switzerland.
Could you explain your company's business model? Do you primarily operate with an in-house team or utilize third-party vendors/outsourcing?
Our business model is centered on delivering high-quality AI and data solutions with our AI Forward Deployed Engineering team, ensuring we control over the quality, security, and integrity of every engagement, which is essential in industries like pharma, healthcare, and financial services where data sensitivity and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable.

All strategy, engineering, and implementation work is done by our specialists, who bring deep expertise in AI strategy, machine learning, data platforms, and ML Ops. This ensures consistent delivery standards and seamless alignment with our ethical framework, governance practices, and company values.
At the same time, we strengthen our offering through strategic partnerships with leading technology providers such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Azure. These partnerships allow us to bring best-in-class platforms and tools to our clients while keeping all design, architecture, and engineering work entirely in-house.

This combination of internal expertise and world-class technology partnerships allows us to deliver solutions that are robust, secure, and built for long-term scalability.
How does your company differentiate itself from competitors in the industry?
We differentiate ourselves by being an AI-first company from the very beginning. While many providers added AI on top of legacy consulting models, we built our entire organisation, delivery approach, and culture around advanced AI engineering. That singular focus gives us depth, speed, and clarity of purpose that generalist firms cannot match.

We also bring in deep domain expertise and a strategic approach to AI adoption. We help clients overcome the pitfalls most companies fall into to become part of the AI leaders instead, generating transformative value from their AI transformation programs.

Our AI success framework is another key differentiator. We support clients across the full lifecycle, from strategic planning and capability building to data platform implementation and production deployment. This ensures that organisations do not just experiment with AI, but achieve measurable impact and long-term transformation.

We also invest heavily in people. Through tailored training programs and hands-on enablement, we help teams adopt AI effectively and build internal capabilities that last.
This combination of AI-only focus, strategic mindset to AI adoption, strong engineering, strategic alignment, and capability building is what sets us apart.

It is how we help clients move from early adoption to sustainable competitive advantage.
How would you describe the dynamics within your team, and how do you foster collaboration and teamwork to achieve common goals?
Our team dynamics are shaped by the people we hire and the values we share. We are a team of high-impact individuals with low egos. We start by selecting individuals who not only bring strong technical skills but who genuinely embody our core values of Excellence, Ownership, Growth Mindset, Integrity, and Empathy. Culture fit is essential, which is why many of our best hires come through internal recommendations. Our people bring in others who share the same curiosity, ethics, and drive for impact.

These values guide how we collaborate across disciplines. Empathy strengthens communication and trust. A growth mindset encourages continuous learning. Integrity ensures transparency. Excellence keeps the bar high. Ownership motivates every team member to stand behind their work and contribute to shared goals. This creates a culture where teams work closely across strategy, engineering, and delivery, and where cross-functional collaboration is the norm rather than an exception.

As we continue to scale, maintaining this level of cohesion is a deliberate effort. Our talent acquisition and people teams play a key role in preserving the quality and cultural alignment of every new hire. They ensure that growth never comes at the expense of our standards or the spirit that defines Visium.

We also invest in connection. Regular team events, off-sites, and knowledge-sharing sessions help build relationships, strengthen collaboration, and ensure that people across different functions understand one another’s work and challenges. This sense of community becomes the foundation for effective teamwork.

The result is a team that moves with clarity, trust, and a shared commitment to delivering responsible and transformative AI solutions for our clients.
What measures do you take to support the professional development and growth of your employees? Do you offer training programs or opportunities for skill enhancement?
Our largest investment is our people. From the moment someone joins Visium, we set clear pathways for growth through individual career development plans. These plans help every team member understand how they can advance, what skills they should focus on, and how their work connects to long-term opportunities within the company.

We also provide structured learning support. Through our partnership with Udemy, our teams have access to a broad library of technical and leadership courses that they can integrate directly into their development journey. To reinforce this, we offer an annual educational budget that allows employees to pursue certifications, conferences, and specialised programs that deepen their expertise.

Time for learning is equally important. Each team member receives five days of dedicated educational leave per year, giving them the space to focus on upskilling without compromising project responsibilities. This is especially valuable in a field like AI, where technologies evolve quickly, and continuous learning is essential.

Together, these measures ensure that every person at Visium has the guidance, resources, and time they need to grow. It creates a culture where development is not an optional benefit, but a core element of how we operate and how we help our teams succeed.
Could you share a notable success story or case study that exemplifies the impact your company has had on a client's business?
One of our most notable success stories comes from our work in the life sciences sector, specifically in protein design. As mentioned earlier in this interview, this is an area where we have achieved some of our biggest breakthroughs in the past year.

We partnered with a leading pharma company to address a critical challenge in their early-stage R&D pipeline. Selecting the right protein candidates is a lengthy and uncertain process where delays or wrong decisions can significantly increase development costs and slow the path to clinical trials.

Our team developed an AI-driven solution that evaluates large volumes of candidate proteins, predicts their properties, identifies potential stability or developability risks, and ranks them based on their likelihood of success. This gives scientists a faster and more reliable way to understand which candidates are most promising and which ones may fail later in the pipeline.

The impact has been significant. The client can now flag risks earlier, reduce the number of experimental cycles, and accelerate lead selection. This shortens a process that traditionally takes months and strengthens their ability to advance high-quality therapeutic candidates into development with greater confidence.

If you would like to see a deeper view of this work, I invite you to watch the keynote we presented at BioTechX, where our team walks through the approach, the results, and the real scientific challenges behind the solution. It is an excellent showcase of how advanced AI can transform protein design in practice.
What industries do you primarily cater to, and do you have a significant percentage of repeat clients? If so, what is the ratio of repeat clients?
We work with some of the world’s largest enterprises across life sciences, specialty chemicals, the luxury sector, financial services, CPG, and technology. A significant part of our focus is on life sciences. Out of the more than 250 AI and data solutions we have delivered, over 100 were built for pharma and biotech leaders. This includes working with six of the top 20 global pharma companies, many of whom continue to partner with us across multiple programs and multi-year roadmaps.

Yes, we have a strong base of repeat clients. Our long-term engagements in life sciences, manufacturing, and financial services show that organisations trust us not only to deliver successful projects, but to support their broader AI transformation journeys.

While we value the numbers, they do not dictate our direction. We take on projects that challenge us scientifically and technologically, and that align with our long-term mission of creating abundance with AI. This focus on meaningful work is what keeps clients returning to us and what drives the impact we aim to create.
What initiatives does your company undertake to foster innovation and stay at the forefront of industry trends? Do you invest in research and development projects?
Innovation is at the core of how we operate. As an AI-first company, we invest continuously in research, engineering excellence, and the exploration of emerging technologies. Our teams stay ahead of industry trends by working on challenging, high-impact projects in areas such as protein design, multimodal AI, advanced analytics, and AI Agents for large engineering organisations. These engagements naturally push the boundaries of what is possible and give us early exposure to new methods and capabilities.

We also run internal R&D initiatives where our engineers, data scientists, and researchers are encouraged to prototype new ideas, test cutting-edge architectures, and explore applications that are not tied to client work. This includes internal hackathons, innovation sprints, and dedicated exploration time that allows teams to experiment and bring forward concepts that later evolve into production-grade solutions.
Our strategic partnerships with Databricks, Snowflake, and Microsoft Azure play a key role as well. These partnerships give us early access to the newest platform capabilities and allow us to co-develop best practices that combine responsible AI with enterprise-grade implementation.
Finally, our Ethics Committee ensures that innovation never comes at the expense of responsibility. They help guide our exploration of new technologies so that what we build is safe, compliant, and aligned with our values.

These initiatives create a culture where innovation is not a side activity but a structured and continuous part of how we stay ahead, deliver state-of-the-art solutions, and help clients prepare for the next wave of AI advancement.
Please share some of the most sought-after services that clients approach your company for.
Clients come to us for AI initiatives that require depth, reliability, and measurable business impact. Some of the most sought-after services include end-to-end AI engineering, where we design and deploy production-grade models that support critical processes such as drug discovery, supply chain optimisation, manufacturing intelligence, financial modelling, and customer analytics.

Another major area is modern data platforms. Organisations rely on us to build cloud-native, enterprise-grade platforms on Databricks, Snowflake, and Azure that integrate data engineering, governance, and machine learning enablement. This has become one of our strongest and most requested offerings because it sets the foundation for scalable AI adoption.

We also see strong demand for strategy and capability building. Many clients ask for support in identifying high-impact use cases, assessing data readiness, designing AI roadmaps, and building internal skills. Our AI success framework and training programs help teams adopt AI effectively and generate long-term value rather than isolated wins.

Across all these areas, the common thread is that clients trust us to transform AI from a promising concept into a tangible, enterprise-wide impact.
How do you build and maintain strong relationships with your clients, and what mechanisms do you have in place for gathering and acting upon client feedback?
We build strong client relationships by keeping communication open, consistent, and focused on outcomes. Every engagement is treated as a partnership, not a transaction. We work closely with clients throughout delivery, ensuring they always have direct access to our engineers and project leads.

To maintain high standards, we use an internal scoring system for every project and actively measure client satisfaction. Our goal is to consistently achieve a 5.0 rating, and we review any lower score immediately to understand what needs to be improved. Feedback is never one-directional. We encourage clients to share what is working well and where we can adjust, and we use these insights to refine our processes, delivery model, and ways of working.

This structured feedback loop, combined with transparent communication and strong technical execution, is what helps us build long-term, trusting relationships with some of the world’s leading organisations.
How has your company adapted to changes and challenges in the business landscape, and what strategies have you employed to ensure resilience and sustainability?
We have adapted to a rapidly changing business landscape by staying focused on what we do best and being intentional about how we grow. Our AI-only strategy has given us clarity in a crowded market and has allowed us to respond quickly to shifts in technology, regulation, and client expectations.

Resilience for us comes from three things. First, a strong technical foundation. We invest heavily in talent, internal R&D, and partnerships with leading platforms so we can stay ahead of the curve rather than react to it. Second, responsible innovation. Our Ethics Committee and governance framework ensure that we scale AI safely and sustainably, even as the regulatory environment evolves. Third, close alignment with our clients. By working alongside them as long-term partners, we anticipate their needs and adapt our solutions to new challenges in their industries.

These strategies have allowed us to remain stable, relevant, and trusted in a fast-moving space, while continuing to deliver solutions that create lasting value.
What payment structure do you typically follow when billing clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, or Pay per Milestone (phases, months, versions, etc.)?
Our payment structures range from Fixed price, Time & Materials mandate, value-based and outcome-based mandates, as well as Licensing agreements of our proprietary technologies.
Do you accept projects that meet your basic budget requirements? If yes, what is the minimum budget requirement? If no, what is the minimum budget you have worked with in the past?
We think long-term and can invest upfront to show what is achievable with our clients. Once we demonstrate the ROI of the investment, it becomes easier to scale the collaboration. Therefore, there is no minimal engagement amount.
Can you provide an overview of the price range (minimum and maximum) of the projects your company worked on in 2024?
Mandates ranged from CHF 10’000 to CHF 2’500’000.
What technological capabilities does your company possess, and are there any ongoing or planned investments in technology infrastructure or tools to enhance your services?
We have numerous productized components related to high-stakes agentic workflows in Life Sciences, and we plan to continue investing in building out these capabilities further.
Where do you envision your company in the next 10 years? What are your long-term goals and aspirations for growth and development?
Visium is optimally positioned to be among the global leaders in terms of driving the enterprise AI impact.

We have the perfect mix of capabilities, world-class talent, and are set up to leverage reusable assets to accelerate time-to-value and scale AI. We seamlessly integrate Strategy & Engineering with a format of becoming truly strategic partners to our clients.

We are just getting started, and we look forward to seeing how much of a positive impact we will be able to achieve in the world in the next 10 years.
