About Wayward Vector
From pool builder to product studio
Wayward Vector started in a shed on Tamborine Mountain. I’ve spent more than 20 years in construction: as a QBCC-licensed pool builder, a professional leak detector working with insurers and building inspectors, and a fabricator with foundry, TIG welding and electronics skills. Along the way I kept building things nobody sold: custom pool automation for clients, an exoskeleton back in 2011, and a high-efficiency pump design.
Eventually the side projects became the main work. Wayward Vector is where I now build products for other people as well as my own inventions.
What makes the studio different is that hardware and software are done by the same person. A typical project covers custom electronics, CAD and 3D-printed enclosures, iPhone, Android and web apps, a cloud backend, and sometimes a private AI system, with no handoffs between agencies and nothing lost along the way.
Recent work includes:
- A smart pool and spa controller, with guest QR access and secure remote access for service technicians, built in about two weeks and now in live testing
- The Aura Discovery Booth, a sensor-driven photo booth with custom AI reports, built for a retail client
- BookForge, a voice-dictation writing app with cloud sync and subscriptions, live on Google Play
I work with inventors, startups and small businesses across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and South East Queensland. Every job gets a fixed quote, a clear timeline and confidentiality for your idea, and you own what’s built.
Got an idea? I’ll build it.
