I am the founder and CEO of XBOSoft, which started in 2006, and I guide business direction, strategy, and operations. We are a software testing and quality assurance consulting firm headquartered in Virginia with a distributed team in San Francisco and Beijing. We serve clients across North America and Europe and have worked with small independent developers and Fortune 500 companies. Our highly skilled and experienced management team is located in the US and is committed to exploring and addressing our client's priorities and requirements.

Our mission is to deliver trust while providing exceptional service beyond the industry standard. Solely dedicated to software quality, we offer broad domain knowledge with extensive expertise in finance, healthcare, and e-commerce combined with technical proficiency in all manual test types as well as automation.
What inspired the founding of your company, and what is the story behind its inception?
Working at many companies throughout my career, two characteristics stuck out to me in these employers: a lack of fairness and opportunity, which I wanted to instill as key elements in the culture of XBOSoft.
What are the core values and principles that drive your company's culture, and how do you ensure alignment with these values across your team?
With our guiding values of trust, service, and collaboration, we want to build long-term cooperation not only with the members of XBOSoft but also with our clients.
Those values of fairness and opportunity resonate through all company decisions. This is why so many employees stay at the company for so long.
Can you highlight some of the key achievements or milestones your company has accomplished since its inception?
Witty clients with whom we've partnered for over 10 years, and we've seen their continued expansion and growth throughout our collaboration. Drawing on our wealth of testing experience in managing quality and testing for our clients,  our team developed the Jira Plugin product-TestVia, successfully implemented by actual customers. TestVia helps support the Agile process in managing user stories and connecting them with test cases and defects.

Most companies do not think of milestones in terms of internal growth, but at XBOSoft, accomplishments and achievements do not necessarily mean client growth or technical prowess. Rather, we focus on foundational achievement in the tenure of our employees. Employees who continue to grow their careers at XBOSoft mean that our clients are consistently satisfied. Creating a corporate environment that fosters low employee turnover is a key facet of our achievement.
Could you explain your company's business model? Do you primarily operate with an in-house team or utilize third-party vendors/outsourcing?
We primarily operate with an in-house team that is an extension of our clients' teams. We are averse to using third-party or cloud-based resources because we feel the quality of remote and unknown resources is difficult to evaluate.

High-quality standards and a partner who goes beyond testing to become part of the team are crucial for technology investments to pay off. We aim to help achieve known objectives while improving our clients' processes by implementing a more robust testing strategy. i.    In the context of work culture, how would you characterize the interactions within your team? What specific methods or practices do you implement to encourage cooperation and collective effort towards achieving team objectives?
All of our testers start full-time in the office, which contributes to building long-term working relationships. We offer flexibility for those with family situations that require them to adapt their working hours. This enables parents to drop off and pick up their children from school, for instance, in other situations.

Each team works as an extension of our client’s development team yet is also an integral part of the XBO Family. As part of the XBO Family, team members know that they have a home. They are not shipped off onsite to any of our client's facilities and then released when the project is over. They work in step with their own project team but also side by side with other teams, sharing knowledge and issues they overcome.

Our annual company party, which celebrates our Company anniversary, and our annual team-building event, which takes place over a weekend at an offsite location, build up our work relationships and cement them into personal bonds that last forever. Many employees who leave the company come back to visit, and some, with the “work from home” trend, come to our offices to work from home because they feel at home here at XBOSoft.
What measures do you take to support the professional development and growth of your employees? Do you offer training programs or opportunities for skill enhancement?
Our company’s rotation program, which allows employees to work on different projects, enables them to work with new team members and new technologies. Additionally, they can work in different domains, such as finance and healthcare, to either deepen their domain knowledge or gain breadth.
Could you share a notable success story or case study that exemplifies the impact your company has had on a client's business?
Many of our clients have transformed into partners. We have been working with some clients for over 16 years, every step of the way, transforming their software from client-server apps to web apps while supporting them in growing from a 20-person company to over 1000 employees and from a small development shop with 4 developers to a publicly traded company.
What industries do you primarily cater to, and do you have a significant percentage of repeat clients? If so, what is the ratio of repeat clients?
Finance, Healthcare, and e-commerce are our primary sectors, but we have years of experience in many others as well. Ninety percent of our clients are repeat clients, and as new ones come on board, we continue to grow in aggregation.
What initiatives does your company undertake to foster innovation and stay at the forefront of industry trends? Do you invest in research and development projects?
We have an advanced technology group within the company that researches the latest tools and leverages our hands-on experience to develop new tools.

Our clients primarily seek our services for three key reasons:

1. Rapid Test Implementation: Clients appreciate our ability to set up and execute testing processes quickly. Our agile approach ensures minimal delays in initiating critical testing phases, allowing projects to stay on schedule.
2. Specialized Testing Expertise: We are known for our deep proficiency in various testing methodologies, including automated testing, performance testing, and comprehensive quality assurance. This expertise enables us to identify and resolve software issues from the outset efficiently.
3. Comprehensive Quality Assurance: Our team manages the entire testing process—from planning to execution and reporting—ensuring thorough and reliable results with minimal client oversight. This allows our clients to concentrate on their core development efforts while we ensure the highest software quality.
How do you build and maintain strong relationships with your clients, and what mechanisms do you have in place for gathering and acting upon client feedback?
We develop and maintain relationships with clients by visiting them periodically, wherever they are. We believe that in-person relationships are the key to building successful partnerships.
How has your company adapted to changes and challenges in the business landscape, and what strategies have you employed to ensure resilience and sustainability?
The company continues to adapt to changing tools and technologies by evaluating them and determining which techniques and methods to employ for the best value for our clients.
What payment structure do you typically follow when billing clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, or Pay per Milestone (phases, months, versions, etc.)?
Fixed, monthly, or project fees
Do you accept projects that meet your basic budget requirements? If yes, what is the minimum budget requirement? If no, what is the minimum budget you have worked with in the past?
We do not have minimum budget requirements. Each client is treated individually case by case, but we have found that teams with at least three developers will likely benefit the most from a third-party testing partner.
Can you provide an overview of the price range (minimum and maximum) of the projects your company worked on in 2023?
$10,000 to USD 500,000 annually.
What technological capabilities does your company possess, and are there any ongoing or planned investments in technology infrastructure or tools to enhance your services?
We continue to invest in our knowledge and people, including the newest software tooling and educational initiatives, to leverage the tooling. We also invested in our product development and released a Jira plugin called TestVia, which optimizes the workflow across testing roles, enabling straightforward test execution, result recording, and progress tracking to boost productivity.
Where do you envision your company in the next 10 years? What are your long-term goals and aspirations for growth and development?
We are a company built to last. Thus, we will continue to grow the company through loyal clients and employees who feel respected and rewarded for their work and dedication.
