A robust service for monitoring your servers, but UX must be improved
New Relic helps us monitor our servers' performance. We use it mainly in 2 ways. One is by defining automatic alerts based on KPIs and stats gathered on each server, then the alerts are sent via email and also to 3rd-party apps (like Slack for example). Two is by manually going into New Relic's dashboards for real-time debugging when problems are found (going through our logs, which arrive from all of our servers).
The main problem is the UX and "over-complexity" this app is designed by - it makes day-to-day tasks more difficult than previous software I used to work with. Another issue - we invested a lot of time in customizing our logs and New Relic in order for it to work smoothly. This could have been an easier process.
What was the project name that you have worked with New Relic?
Server Management Software
How long have you used New Relic?
2 Years
How frequently you use New Relic?
Weekly
What do you like the most about New Relic?
It lets you query all your servers' logs in one place
It sends you automatic alerts based on high error rates
It integrates easily to other apps, like Slack for example
What do you like the least about New Relic?
The UX/UI of the software is not so intuitive and the learning curve is stiff
There are so many params to use, which makes it more difficult than the benefit of flexibility
