Please introduce your product and briefly describe your role within the organization.
TurboTenant is the leading all-in-one rental property management software for independent landlords. We’re proud to have served more than 500,000 landlords across America.

Our landlord software simplifies self-management by offering rental marketing, tenant screening, lease creation, e-signatures, rent collection, expense tracking, and tenant communication on one easy-to-use platform. Best of all, most of our features are free for property owners.

My name is Seamus Nally, and I have the good fortune of leading an incredible team of individuals here at TurboTenant as the CEO. On my best days, I’m empowering the team to meet the needs of our landlords through the software we build, the education we craft, and the customer experience we provide.
What was the objective behind coming up with this software?
TurboTenant was founded in 2015 by landlord and rental industry educator Sarnen Steinbarth. Since then, our objective has remained the same: to support independent landlords throughout their self-management journey by helping them manage their rentals efficiently and create respectful relationships with their tenants.
How is your software beneficial from a value-addition perspective to the clients compared to other software alternatives available in the market?
At TurboTenant, we don’t stop at free landlord software. We consistently seek feedback from our users to ensure our software meets their needs, which has led to features and partnerships that boost their efficiency tremendously. For example, TurboTenant offers an integration with REI Hub that allows our landlords to synchronize their accounting efforts. We also make it easier than ever to require and validate renters insurance, thanks to our partnership with Sure.

Additionally, we found that many rental property owners had questions about starting and running their business, the legalities involved, and how to build out their investment portfolio. To answer their questions, we release free educational content covering everything from how long landlords have to handle maintenance issues to the eviction process and beyond.
What industries do you generally cater to? Which industries in general are highly benefiting from using your software?
We cater exclusively to the rental real estate industry and more specifically to landlords who want to self-manage their properties. This group has been largely underserved by proptech - but thanks to TurboTenant, they’re able to manage and grow their businesses with confidence.
What are the key features of your software that makes it stand apart from your competitor products in the market?
The majority of our features are free for landlords - but those looking for faster payouts, additional support, and other fantastic perks are charged a flat fee. This strategy saves our users money compared to other software that charges ‘per unit.’ TurboTenant’s Premium plan is the most cost-effective compared to other alternatives on the market - meaning our landlords keep more of their hard-earned money without missing the features they need most.

Plus, we have the most syndication partners for our landlords’ listings, and it shows: our landlords average 28 leads per listing.

Also, features like Tenant Check-ins and free messaging nurture communication between tenants and their landlords to facilitate healthy professional relationships.
What is the customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
Our landlord customer satisfaction score was 86.7% in 2022. TurboTenant’s Customer Support team is the best in the industry. Not only are they skilled with our platform themselves, but they regularly pass along feedback and requests from customers so that we can always keep improving. 

Our NPS was 64 in 2022 - which is above average within our industry.
Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what is the percentage of repeat customers that you have?
Our customers leverage TurboTenant for multiple aspects of the landlord journey, meaning they are utilizing our product and educational resources on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. This results in tens and hundreds of thousands of landlords gleaning value from TurboTenant each year.
Does your software product provide any resource or knowledge section for its users? If yes, what kind of material is provided to your users to help them get acquainted with your product?
Software is only as good as it is accessible to its users. To set our landlords up for lasting success, we offer two Onboarding Webinars per month where they can walk through our product and ask questions live. We also maintain a robust Support Center, chock-full of articles.

Additionally, we provide educational content centered on the rental industry as a whole. Every month, we host a live webinar diving into a specific landlording topic, such as Section 8 housing or financing your next property purchase. For those looking for more, we publish at least one article each week to keep landlords up to date on industry trends, important legislation, and relationship/business management.

Lastly, we launched the TurboTenant Academy, beginning with our Fair Housing for Landlords course. This resource offers foundational knowledge regarding the Fair Housing Act to help landlords avoid running afoul of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
Circling back to our amazing Support Team, we are dedicated to our landlords’ and tenants’ success. We offer live chat support and email every day. Premium subscribers have access to phone support as well. Our Colorado-based Support Team office regularly relays suggestions, requests, and questions from landlords directly to the Product Team so we can rapidly iterate on our product offering.

If a landlord would prefer to look for an answer to their question alone, our recorded Onboarding Webinars and comprehensive Support Center articles are there to assist.
What has been the revenue for your product for 2022?
TurboTenant has established itself as a market leader, serving more independent landlords than any other platform. In 2022, we surpassed 500,000 landlords served and experienced a 39% growth in customers. At the same time, our rent payment volume grew by 264%.

While we don’t share revenue figures publically, we’re thrilled by the reception we continue to receive from independent landlords and count ourselves lucky to play a role in helping them realize their financial goals by owning and managing rental properties.
Where do you see your product in the next 10 years?
In 10 years, TurboTenant will be the destination for everything an independent landlord needs. Our platform will help real estate investors find deals, finance properties, find tenants, create and store documents, manage renters, coordinate maintenance and renovations, sell properties, and all the other tasks that landlords need to do.

We'll also be the primary hub for landlords to learn how to be better landlords and investors. We'll have a comprehensive landlord academy, a robust community, live events, and everything else a landlord might need to feel prepared and capable to start, grow, and enjoy their rental business.

But no matter how the ever-changing rental industry shifts, we will continue to uplift independent landlords and their tenants through superior customer service, a deep knowledge of rental property management needs, and a dedication to using education to build better communities.
