DevelopWay CJSC expertly managed the software development for 'Scooloo', a cutting-edge language learning platform for kids up to 12. They consistently delivered items on time. The use of Agile sprints ensured that we saw regular, tangible progress on the app. At the end of each sprint, we were presented with a new set of features or improvements, which were mostly aligned with our expectations and the set timelines. Whenever we had a change in requirements or a new feature request, Developway's Agile methodology proved to be advantageous. They were able to quickly adapt to our needs, prioritize them in their development sprints, and provide solutions or workarounds when necessary. DevelopWay has worked for JICA on 2 different software development grant projects over 2 years. Their work on Software for Network Communications in the project for Seismic Risk Assessment and Risk Management Planning in the Republic of Armenia has made a significant difference to our project. We needed a software development partner to create a system that would immediately determine the main parameters of the earthquake and display the intensity map of Yerevan city based on the data received. We selected DevelopWay CJSC to create a real time display system of seismic intensity distribution. They were really thorough with their work and provided quality deliverables. No issue is too much trouble for Armen and his team. We feel very satisfied with all the work done.

I’m Armen, CEO, and Founder of DevelopWay. DevelopWay is an IT consulting and software development company based in Armenia. With more than 13 years of experience in the software industry, we’ve served 30+ happy clients, completed 50+ projects, and consulted 70+ teams. Our service portfolio covers an entire software development life cycle and meets varied business needs. We have extensive experience in custom software development, mobile, and web app development.

We value professionalism, creativity, commitment, and responsibility. At the same time, we tend to put a special focus on the enthusiasm and imaginative approach of the younger generation.

What is the story behind starting this company?

13 years before me and my co-founder I, each of us with more than 10 years of experience in tech and management at that time, were having discussions quite often about the role of the IT industry in Armenia. We were analyzing the recent trends and considering potential enhancements and our role in that process. At that time Armenia had already started growing as one of the world’s leading outsourcing destinations for the high-qualified workforce with excellent English communication skills, world-class research capabilities, affordable costs of labor, attractive business environment, tax benefits & other government support initiatives. We decided to make use of our experience, and join our efforts on developing and growing dedicated teams focused on providing web and mobile outsourcing services to central Europe and US.

What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?

Over the last 13 years, we have been engaged in improving in-house software development processes and providing offshore software outsourcing services. We offer 3 types of engagement models to manage the relationship with our clients: dedicated teams, staff augmentation, and project-based model. In the majority of cases, our clients have preferred to cooperate with Dedicated Team Model. It’s when the client hires a dedicated team of professionals for a long time to get the software work done without spending time and money on full supervision. The self-managed team of developers, designers, or other professionals works getting assigned to the project or some part of it for a long time thus minimizing the development costs and ensuring fast-to-market delivery.

How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?

We are a customer success-oriented company.
We work honestly and openly for fair rates.
We are in the software industry for the long term and have extensive experience in app and custom software development.

What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?

The main part of our customers (60 percent in 2021) is our long-term partners who trust us for more than 2 years of lasting projects or refer our teams or developers to other companies in their network for further collaboration.

Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?

Our service portfolio covers an entire software development life cycle and meets varied business needs. Our focus is on Mobile App and Web Application Development and Customer Software Development.

What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?

The metrics we use for measuring customer satisfaction are customer feedback collected during and after the delivery of the projects, the business success of the products developed, the awards achieved, and recognition from leading analytics companies. To contribute to our customer’s satisfaction we combine the best project management practices and keep up with international standards making use of Scrum-based processes, Kanban methodology, core practices of XP, and more Agile systems, etc. We initiate the project discovery phase and estimate the effort for the elaborated requests in those cases when the client understands how the product should work but the project’s scope can’t be properly defined and provided by them. We do this to create a clear vision of the future solution and to document all project requirements. After a thorough analysis of the client’s business goals and challenges, DevelopWay specialists prepare the document to fix the business requirements, product scope, stakeholders' needs, and functional requirements.

What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?

Such practices as daily meetings, weekly reporting, and the frequent demos used by DevelopWay enable our clients to closely coordinate with our team, raise their queries and issues and always stay on the same page regarding project progress, potential risks, and expectations.

What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)

DevelopWay offers three different billing plans to its clients: Time and Material Plan, Fixed-Price, and Monthly Flat Rates.

Time and Material Plan suggests billing on actual time spent on the development process (man-hours worked) and is usually chosen when we decide with the client to work with agile frameworks. Fixed-Price billing supposes payments on pre-defined milestones and is used for clear and well-defined small and mid-sized projects with a traditional (waterfall) project management style. We sometimes offer a Monthly Flat Rate Plan to the client to suggest paying a fixed monthly price for all features and all access levels. This is a cost-effective option for short-term projects.

Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

We aim for budgets of no less than 10,000 USD. DevelopWay professionals discuss each project with an individual approach.

What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2021?

Min 20,000 EUR – Max 300,000 EUR.
