Information Technology

Background:

Pnat is a spin-off company of the University of Florence specializing in consulting and innovative solutions in the field of applied botanical science. The company uses the capabilities of plants to improve air quality and, focusing on preventing the risk of falling trees, has collaborated with Extendi to develop an advanced monitoring system.

Project:

Pnat approached Extendi to develop an IoT solution to monitor tree health. Extendi created a dashboard using React for the frontend and Ruby on Rails for the backend, integrated with Google Cloud IoT Core, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions for telemetry data management. The application collects data from microchips installed on trees, storing it in the cloud and enabling predictive analytics to plan maintenance interventions.

Results:

The project has led to more efficient and predictive management of tree maintenance, reducing the risk of falling branches and improving the safety of public green spaces. The modern and user-friendly dashboard enables continuous and accurate monitoring, representing a significant step forward in the application of IoT technology to urban green space management.

E-commerce

Background:

LEGO®, the world's leading toy brand, reported revenues of approximately $9.66 billion in 2023. Known for its ability to innovate and offer engaging experiences to its customers, LEGO® has chosen Extendi to develop an e-commerce app dedicated to the Italian stores operated by Percassi.

Solutions:

Extendi created a mobile app for iOS and Android using React Native and a headless architecture to support LEGO®'s omnichannel strategy. The app was integrated with the Commerce Layer API, the leading headless commerce platform, and the development and release process was automated through Fastlane. Key features of the app include "Click and Collect," which allows customers to buy online and pick up products in store, and "Store Locator," which helps users find the nearest stores and check product availability in real time.

Results:

The app has significantly improved the shopping experience for customers at Percassi-operated LEGO® stores by providing a fast, reliable and engaging platform. The "Click and Collect" service facilitated purchase and pickup operations, while the "Store Locator" made it easier for customers to locate stores and check product availability. The headless architecture made it easy to integrate the app with LEGO®'s other systems, improving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
