Executive Interview of Factorial Complexity
Tatiana Danshyna
CEO/Director
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
Our company is called Factorial Complexity. We provide superior services in mobile app development, UI/UX design, application testing and a bit of web development. Thus, our team can help all the way to create an application from concept and design development to the product itself.
As a CEO I do my best to make our company recognized and, at the same time, to embody projects that matter not only for customers but also for team members to allow them to work on something meaningful.
As a CEO I do my best to make our company recognized and, at the same time, to embody projects that matter not only for customers but also for team members to allow them to work on something meaningful.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
The idea was of making great products for our clients using contemporary technologies and absolutely transparent workflow.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
In-house team including designers, project managers, and quality engineers.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We are flexible, agile-oriented and work closely with project owners because that is the most efficient way to deliver the value-adding results to our clients.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We work with start-ups mostly, and our clients are from different spheres (education, transportation, finance). Some of our clients work with us for more than 4 years in a row. All together we help startups/technological business to build their products, and we help different businesses to develop stand out mobile applications in their business areas.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
A time frame for the development of an application is defined individually for every project. First, we discuss the timeframes with a customer before the start, then approve them and only after this, we launch the project.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
It depends on the application specifics. The project can be for one week if it’s only an interface for one platform or for half of a year if it’s a complex cross-platform solution with back-end and interface development.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
There many of them! It depends on a business model and an auditory the application is targeted for, their revenue, location and so on. One of the main parameters is, of course, budget.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
It’s always up to a customer. As far as once again, it depends on many factors. To start with, we suggest deciding whether they are going with a native or a cross-platform solution. Then, they need to make a decision taking into consideration their budget, target audience, business model, app purpose and so on.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
We build native (iOS, Android) and cross-platform applications using React Native, because we are sure that these solutions are the best in terms of money, effort and quality. We strongly suggest our clients to choose between these two options to ensure the best user-experience and quality.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
The cost of a mobile application is referred to as the amount of work needed to bring the app to life. There is also a way of constant improvement of the application in the form of application support, update or add additional functionality.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We don’t set a minimum budget for new projects. The budget of the simplest application is about $7,000-$10,000. It is so called MVP - minimum viable product. Isolated tasks also can be performed, and their cost could be less.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
It has a fairly wide range from $700 to tens of thousands of dollars. So, we are ready to help everyone who needs a mobile app.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
We are a team of true developers. So, on this particular milestone of our life, we do not consult our clients on the marketing success of the applications or advertisement promotion.
