Humanjava is a User Experience and Software Development consultancy based on Vancouver Island, BC. In business since 2004, and incorporated in 2012. We have twenty-plus years of turning messy digital problems into things people actually want to use, from ideas to prototypes, from legacy systems to mobile first based platforms. Where possible we utilize open-source tools for the decentralized web and always keep the private parts of your business process out of the public space.

The consultancy side draws on two decades of enterprise work — design sprints at CIBC Digital, transformation projects at various Government Ministries. We also work with Startups like SoundHSA and are able to navigate government service design. Our solutions include navigating the regulated, high-stakes environments where getting the experience wrong costs real money.

Our build in public ethos includes seven published npm packages and counting. Everything we build, we build in public.

On the product side, we're making tools that put people in control of their own data. NostrKey is our browser extension for Chrome and Safari that handles cryptographic identity on the Nostr protocol. VoxRelay is an AI voice service that confirms appointments for small businesses so staff can stop playing phone tag.

The company was born from two ideas; Human for the people at the centre of every design decision, Java for the technology that serves them.
