Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
We are a full stack product development company working along with startups and enterprises to deliver cutting edge solutions in the sectors of Mobile/Web apps, DLT, SaaS, blockchain applications & IOT.
My role is diverse & dynamic, that is how it has always been and I like to lead my team & clients to success by working closely with them as much as I can. I am involved with the teams 24x7 starting from the presale stage to drafting the solution architecture or project management/post deployment.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
The idea has always been to be a technology power house, built with certain ethics like not competing but rather collaborating & always innovating for the better future.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
Our business model is an in-house / Projects & Research oriented. It always revolves around 3 major KPIs: The first one being heavily research oriented in house team, we evolve around technologies that we feel can impact the future of industries at a 10X or larger scale. Second, putting in use of our proof of concepts or knows how to build real life products & solving business as well as tech problems for our clients. The third one is to build relationships with the open source communities and leaders of the Web 3 era because we genuinely feel that tech should be more open for practice & knowledge sharing rather than being secretive like old school companies.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
This is something I cannot prove to be better in terms of writing but let me give you a layout: We don't charge anything for consultation. We strive to deliver the solution architecture first including the wireframes & putting in the best tech practices behind the projects which often time involve putting in more time than needed just to get a crystal clear road map out for the customer. The sole reason behind this is to never compete on the grounds of how much we charge but to always believe in research oriented solutions so that even if we fail to acquire a prospect we end up adding more value to the project after the consultation period.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We serve across almost every major industry verticals including some new ones that are startup run mostly. We have crafted solutions for clients ranging from healthcare, IT, fintech, edutech, tourism, consumer internet, F&B, esports, On demand economy & the sectors just keep getting more and more diverse with time.
Yes most of our customers are repetitive since the platforms that we built are scalable and post deployment most of them are repetitive since they love working with us & like our flexibility to changes.
I would say, 4:1, for every 5 customers 4 continue to use our services to scale up or extend support, but the 1 that are not likely to be repetitive are either the enterprises who have a predefined road map & life cycle for a project after that we do a full KT and their team takes care of the future developments, the second are the startups who are able to raise a big round of funding, the tend to get their in-house team to build on top of what we deliver them before as a product.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
In the requirement gathering phase, we involve the Developers and Designers who will be assigned on the actual Product Development. This involves highlighting the most time consuming features and functionalities. We then divide the whole Product Development cycle into Modules, which decides the overall Time frame. Thus for us, Modules are the actual parameters which helps us in determining the time frame.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
We believe that Product Development takes time and needs a lot of R&D both on the designs and development phase. An adequate amount of time needs to be invested by both teams. But just to put an average number to it, we generally complete an MVP in 30 days and a full fledged product generally takes 90 days.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
Multiple aspects needs to be considered before selecting the right platform. From the Geographical location to the budget constraints. Given a choice, I would consider these parameters on the basis of Top most priority; Geographical Location, Technology, User Base, Demand & Budget Constraints
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
Being a company that believes in both MVP’s and Product market Fit, we would suggest only after our due diligence in the above mentioned points.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
Technology is evolving rapidly. There is no platform which can be considered the best amongst the others. But if we are to choose between Android or iOS, we will go with what the product or user demands. In a country Like India, we would always recommend to launch an Android product over iOS (If one has to be selected). However, the opposite would be recommended for European or North American region.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
For us, the key indexes which would decide the overall cost would be major functionalities and Modules in the platform. Rest of them wouldn’t change the pricing drastically or are sometimes included in the same price range.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We follow Fixed Cost which is paid in installments. Use of this model ensures that both the parties are on a safer side before the project is initiated. However, we do consider taking equities in the projects which we find to be interesting.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
There is no basic budget requirement for projects to initiate in Sodio. We have worked on tweaking small functionalities where the overall costing was as low as $150. This approach got us connected with a lot of like minded people who then recommended us to their fellow acquaintances.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2017?
In 2017, the lowest we catered to was $500 where small changes on an existing platforms were to be done and the highest project price range was $60,000.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
We recommend subscription based Business model initially because of its effectiveness and convenience for both the parties (User and Admin). We wouldn’t recommend using Ad based business model initially as that might frustrate the users.
