Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
This is Danish Hanif, founder & CEO of Unicorn Technologies. We are a full-service software development agency providing unrivalled services in areas like software development, web development, mobile application development, product development, E-commerce solutions, UI/UX design, IT consulting, digital marketing and content writing. We have a proven track record of providing cutting-edge technology solutions.
My primary role is to communicate with clients and develop effective strategies for the company so that we keep providing value to our esteemed clients. Workplace culture is something I personally look into each day and always take special measures to maintain an employee-friendly culture in the company.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
It all started when I used to do freelance work and online jobs with my studies. Even then, my objective was to make repeat customers out of every project I deliver and build long-term business relationships. Over the years, I got in touch with many western companies who were looking for remote services. That is when I thought of expanding my horizon and decided to start a company to cater the needs of my customers. It was purely out of passion to help businesses grow as well as the aim to create reasonable job opportunities for the country. Unicorn Technologies got incorporated in the last quarter of 2018 and since then we are on a mission to empower businesses around the globe by leveraging the power of technology.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
I prefer in-house resources. We have over 10 resources working in the areas of development, marketing, content, design and business development.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
Our unique proposition is that we take lead from the front and provide our customers with a number of unique ideas which can enhance their project in terms of revenue. We conduct a thorough research on the project and communicate our findings to the customers. Sometimes, if the customers are having a hard time understanding our ideas, we present them with a quick design demo so by looking at the visuals, they can understand it better. The primary objective here is to facilitate the customer in every way possible and deliver an end-product that exceeds the expectations.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive?
So far, we have catered to various industries including but not limited to Education, Healthcare, Real Estate, Lifestyle, Education, Sports & Fitness, Legal, E-commerce, Music, Insurance, Non-profit and Finance. We always start a project with the intention of making repeat customers and we have been able to retain most of our customers till date due to the exceptional services and unrivalled post-project support provided by us.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a web app.
The very first step in determining the time frame of a project is to discuss the project scope with the customer and establish clear requirements. It differs for each project. We deep dive into the factors like demographics and target market in order to evaluate the project scope. Once the requirements are known, we evaluate the man-hours for each project and communicate it to the customer before starting a project.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a web app?
This is different for each project. Some projects have more effort needed in their front end design while some requires extensive work in their backend.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a web application?
The key parameters include the target user base, scalability requirements as well as the ability to cater multiple user requests.
Which platform and technologies do you prefer to use in development of your web apps?
For custom web app projects, we work with PHP frameworks especially Laravel and CodeIgniter. However, for CMS based projects, we primarily use WordPress.
Do you offer website design templates or customised website design, and do you have a responsive website design?
It depends upon the customer requirements as well as the project timeline. If a project has a shorter timeline and customer is open to using pre-made templates with certain modifications, we go towards that path. However, if a customer wants to have a completely customized website design, then we do everything custom. All of our website designs are completely responsive for all screen sizes.
Which Content Management System do you prefer to use (Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal etc)?
WordPress is our go to CMS for website development. We also work with other CMS like Joomla, Drupal, Shopify etc. depending upon customer requirements.
Do you provide website maintenance services?
Yes, we maintain the projects we have delivered. Moreover, we also take over the maintenance of existing web applications if a customer reaches out to us.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a web application?
Each customer has a certain budget for a project and that’s the starting point here. The next step is determining the primary goal of the project and target audience because these factors help in defining the project scope. Once we know the budget and the project scope, we work with our customers to deliver it in time.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
It varies from project to project. For small projects with straightforward requirements, we use fixed cost structure. However, for projects having more turnaround time, we break them down into different milestones. We receive half payments for each milestone in advance.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
No, we do not have a basic budget requirement. We are on a mission to empower businesses be it a small business or a large enterprise. We welcome all of the inquiries we receive and come up with a solution that is feasible for us and the client. Creating a strong customer base and is our primary objective. Budget does not take any priority when it comes to working with us. We have worked for as low as $100 per project as well.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2019?
During 2019, we worked on the numerous projects from various industries in different capacities. We charged as low as $100 and as high as $10,000 for the projects.
