What do you like the most about Discord?
I think the most I liked most about Discord was its API, insanely powerful and helped us a lot in making decisions, developing and integrating it with ClickUp was swift, and evolved our team to the next level, making planning and team management much more easy.
What do you like the least about Discord?
I think we struggled at the start when performing role-configuration, so I think an enhanced view of permissions and roles could be a nice addition, once you the start the configuration process it makes it a lot easier to maintain.
virtual communication tool
Review Summary
Working in a team of around 20, one of the tools we have adopted since lockdown and everyone working from home has been Discord. Traditionally, it has been designed for the gaming community as a virtual communication tool, however it has worked really well for us.
Pros
It allows people to continue conversations as if they were in an office. We've setup a number of "rooms", which team members can freely join whenever they want. If a discussion is getting a little hectic on Slack, the team moves to discord to quickly discuss the solution.
It's great because its informal and doesn't require booking meetings. And team members still get to have a casual chat if they feel like it.
Cons
It takes a little discipline to get right. If you have joined a room and someone sees you there, you don't necessarily have a notification that someone is wanting to chat. You hear them immediately so you need to be present and paying attention!
The tool has just launched video support and is still building out capability in video calling. It limits the number of connections to 25 in one.
