Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
A Dying Art Company Ltd offers start-ups, small businesses, and non-profits the tools that were typically only available to large businesses and corporations.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
After working in corporate marketing and design for a couple of years, we wanted to create a firm that would offer those same business solutions to small businesses and non-profits.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
All our design and development is done in-house and built around the directive of our client.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We create plans and directives based on our client’s needs. We start with an easy chat to get the lay of the land and what their goals are and build a winning strategy for them to help them succeed with their goals. No cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all, ho-hum plans.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We work with a gamut of businesses and non-profits but truly love the passion that drives a start-up, small business, or non-profit. Passion is contagious and powerful. We boast a 92% retention rate with our clients and an 84% referral rate, as well. Once clients work with us, they stay with us and want to bring their colleagues along, as well.
Mention the parameters which are most important for you in developing web design.
We want to know what the goal is for our clients. It may sound funny, but a lot of people are under the impression that just having a website will boost sales when that is very far from the case. You need to know what they want their site to do so you can build it with that goal in mind. And utilize keyword optimization and UX/UI design to implement it.
What key aspects do you keep in mind while developing a web design in order to enhance its usability?
Web design and UX/UI design are intricate pieces to any business, particularly since 75%+ of people use mobile devices to view websites now. Clean user design is imperative to a positive outcome for our clients, and we take the reins on that and make sure that the end result is a highly functioning and intuitive layout that affords the best traction.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right framework for web design?
Since working with start-ups and non-profits, the biggest factor is understanding what their future goals are. Some clients are happy and can afford to allow us to manage the site henceforth. Others want to take the reins and be able to make changes themselves. So we go from there and deduce their best course of action when building a site. Whether it be a wireframe or builder platform, we build for our client’s needs.
Which framework do you suggest your clients to go for when they approach you with an idea? Why?
As stated, it depends on their needs. There is a slew of platforms and frameworks available out there that can be customized to fit their exact needs.
What are your recommendations when it comes to developing a web design? Which framework do you suggest on working with?
Over the past few years, we’ve seen a real shift in our clientele to work with a framework that involves minimal coding, while still allowing them to edit as needed. The leader in this framework has been Wix, and with the new development of Editor X, slated for launch soon, Wix has really stood out to our firm and our clients as the best value for brilliant sites that can be easily edited by our clients.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a website design?
Client budget and their turn-around time are the two biggest factors. For instance, if a non-profit is strapped for funds, but they are also looking for a slow build, we’ll set up a payment plan with them to ease the burden. Obviously, we work fast; it’s one of our key benefits. But the rate will be higher for an ASAP build than a 2-3 week build.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We offer a Pay Per Project. Brand guides, logo revamps, content creation, web build, social media. All of those would be separate projects and billed at the time of starting work. Half down a deposit, half at approval/launch.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Because our demand has become so great, we can only accept budgets less than $2,500 on a very limited basis, and the majority of those are minority-based businesses and non-profits.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
The average min cost of new web design was $4,500, max $14,800. Branding min $150 (non-profit) and max $500.
Kindly share your feedback on how GoodFirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.
GoodFirms is doing a decent job so far. I wish I could say I’ve gotten leads but haven’t as of yet. I’m assuming it’s a bit of a slow build like SEO, so keeping my fingers crossed for some extra stream of leads.

Review Summary

Kate from A Dying Art Company did an amazing job designing my website. Not only did she have the sense of style necessary to make it look really cool, she also had the technical ability to make it do cool things. i've worked with other website designers, but none who worked so hard to make everything go right, no matter how long it took. And great value - frankly, she should charge more, given how much she does....

Review Summary

I worked with Kate on two websites and she did a stellar job on both. Always listens and makes changes quickly. I also like that she has such great ideas herself and doesn't just ask for direction. She puts really cool stuff out there, which in turn gives me new and interesting ideas myself. In other words, she is a wonderful collaborator! I highly recommend working with Kate at A Dying Art Company Ltd. on your website. You won't be sorry!

Review Summary

Outstanding. Kate is really a true gem. Knowledgeable, very thoughtful, honest, on point with what she does, and with a keen eye and sensibility for design. But Kate’s most notable skill is the ability to understand EXACTLY what the client wants and translate it to her work.
Absolutely remarkable. Go with her and let me know. Just look at our website.

Review Summary

I used Kate at A Dying Art a few months ago to help optimize my very sluggish website and get my SEO working. She was super easy to work with, cooperative with my needs, creative and on top of everything else, she is a super high quality human being! I really enjoyed working with Kate and I get so many complements on my website! I have referred her already to several other people. I highly recommend her work!

Review Summary

I needed a good, creative designer to help rework my web site. I provide strategy IT consulting, and needed to be able to articulate that message clearly and concisely. I hired another designer, but his work was mediocre and he didn't make changes to the site I needed. So I went to Kate and A Dying Art Company. She is FABULOUS!!! I love her creative aesthetic. She listens well and has great creative ideas. She helped me set up a blog, a v-card, and a great eye-catching design. I went back to her a few times for enhancements and some changes, and she always delivers. My site looks amazing now. I proudly refer customers to it. The best compliment I can give is that visitors to my site always say, "oh, I get what you do."

I have been so impressed with Kate's work that I have referred her to other small business owners that I know, and she is now doign work for them, and they also love her!
