Addevice Executive Interview

Grigory Jlavyan
CEO
Please introduce your company and give a brief introduction about your role within the company.
From the very beginning and every day, our company prioritizes users and their needs. Founded in 2013, we worked hard for years to build a network of satisfied clients and users and still get motivated by their positive reviews. Despite the years and constantly growing customer portfolio, we’re still a company "with a human face”, created by a group of enthusiasts that build quality software. Our commitment, hard work, and innovative ideas make us a reliable IT partner.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
Back in 2013, the market was less developed with low competition. Simultaneously, the solutions were limited for idea execution. Every new achievement that brought user satisfaction was a tremendous success, so it was clear that such potential could bring much more to the industry. We saw the opportunity to prosper and found the demand for quality solutions.
What is your company’s business model–in-house team or third-party vendors/ outsourcing?
We are an in-house team providing a multi-dimensional approach to customer demands and addressing the needs with expertise. Our team covers full-cycle app development and further maintenance with marketing support and monitoring. Building core values for years, we value responsibility and commitment, strive to keep the identity and recognize each team member as the company's most valuable asset. We also work on digital community development by providing ongoing internship programs and contributing to talent pool development.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We ensure the successful release of any project by processing it in core stages: analysis and planning, determining project requirements with a client, prototype and idea validation, design and developing, testing and deployment, maintenance, and updates.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive?
With extensive expertise, we are now specialized in the following industries:
- Enterprise applications
- Healthcare
- On-Demand economy
- Education & eLearning
- eCommerce
- Entertainment and media
- Transportation and Logistics
- Real Estate
- FinTech
- RegTech
- Advanced Manufacturing
Through long-term relationships with our clients, we ensure that multiple projects can be completed simultaneously. In these terms, we have an average 70% retention rate.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing software.
Project scope, development time, and complexity are determined in the initial stages of communication and planning. We try to pay special attention and even spend extra time planning to cut the chances of redoing separate components or core functions. Much depends on stakeholders. The more precise they deliver the needs and requirements, the less time will be spent on planning.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
Everything depends on the complexity of the project. In the first stages of planning, we give an average estimation without considering all the facts. In rough, it may take between three and six months to develop an app. A typical team for a mobile application consists of three developers - back-end, iOS, and Android. They work synchronously and are 100% occupied. They work synchronously and are 100% occupied. Compared to back-end development, front-end development consumes twice as many resources and time. 3-6 months is an average period for a medium complexity mobile application development.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
Initial market analysis reveals much for further planning. We create a buyer persona determining the preferences (including the choice of OS). But we also prioritize the primary features to be compatible with the platform.
The choice should be based on the answers to the following questions:
The choice should be based on the answers to the following questions:
- What is the budget for app development? Does it reconcile with the cost?
- Who is the target user? What is the behavior of that user?
Which platform do you suggest your clients begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
Our expertise covers the software development for both platforms as well as creating Native and Hybrid cross-platform apps. We are not prioritizing any of the options, and the choice should be project-based. We choose and offer the platform based on careful analysis of the target audience and its preferences. The choice also depends on the client's preferences and needs specific to this or that OS.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
We equally practice software development for all four platforms, and each of them has its market and specifics. Without analyzing the project specifics, we may advise going for a native app built on Flutter that feels like a custom Android or iOS app developed from scratch. On the other side, if the project's target audience is iOS users, there is no reason for cross-platform development.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
So far, the question has the most extensive answer as we always take on projects and analyze through different perspectives before making any cost estimation. Much depends on the project complexity but solely giving cost estimation on complexity is not practical. There are initial stages like analysis and planning, hours of design and development, testing, and deployment.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions, etc.)
We strive to deliver maximum flexibility when it comes to payment. The structure of billing though mainly depends on the project specifics. We have experienced all types of pricing, and we are open to discussing conditions and approaches with our clients.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If not, on what minimum budget have you worked for?
For more accurate budget estimation, it takes time to analyze the market and plan the project costs. The pricing may also be quite individual, depending on the project. Therefore, we are highly flexible regarding partnership terms, including budget requirements. We have not once collaborated with startups with a small budget and great potential. Nevertheless, we estimate $20.000 as the minimum budget for software development.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2021- 2022?
Roughly estimated, we have worked on projects and continue building products with the value ranging between $20.000 to $5 million.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients, enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
Effective business models are revealed through market analysis and market testing. In short, we test the waters to see which business model is the most effective in gaining user engagement and meeting marketing ROI milestones. Usually, we test all the business models to find the best option. But let’s not forget that, as mentioned before, everything depends on project specifics. We implement popular revenue models: subscription, in-app purchases, freemium, pay per download, and advertising.
