Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
Appentus technologies was founded in 2014 by Rajat Pathak. The company deals mainly on the mobile application domain. Over the years, this company has grown to become one of the top rated app companies available today. I play a very dynamic role to ensure the success of this company and to make sure that it provides technological solutions to clients. I specialize in brand marketing, brand recognition and quality control management for every project Appentus Technologies handle in other to give clients and customers the best products and services they deserve.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
We wanted to make an impact in the IT world. Not only that, we wanted to bring great changes and innovations to the mobile app development domain so that people can appreciate world class projects and designs. As a result, we decided to start Appentus Technologies to bring our dreams into reality.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
It is against our company's policy to outsource projects to other developers. We have in house team members that are reliable and ever ready to take on any task and offer world class application solutions to clients. We have franchise in Delhi and Uruguay which are our development centre and sales team location respectively.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
No other apps development company can boast of having as many experienced developers as Appentus Technologies have. We offer free support to clients for 120 days when they use our products and services. In addition, we agree to a long term relationship with clients and make sure that their data protection is guaranteed.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We cater all the industries that require our products and services. We are not stuck to a particular industry. Examples of industries we have worked for include: food industry, e-commerce, transportation sector etc. In fact, recently we are partnering with the government to provide technological solutions. As a result of our unique products and quality services, we have a very high client repeat rate of about 90 percent.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
To be honest, there is no specific or particular time to develop an app. The time frame depends on a whole lot of factors. One of such is the experience of the developer working on the project. A new app developer will spend more time than a developer who has been working for long. That is why we ensure that our team members are experienced. Another parameter that determines how long a project will last is the complexity and nature of the task.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
On an average, it requires about 1 – 2 months for back end and front end development. However, this depends on the nature of the application in question. Some apps require as much as 4 months while others need as little as 20 days to develop their back ends.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
Selecting the right platform for a mobile app is only based on project requirement. For example, the kinds of features clients want in their app determine what platform is better suited for the app. Also, the complexity of the app, the functional operations and the technologies used in creating the app will determine what platform is good for it.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
We do not direct clients to begin with any platform for their ideas. This is because both Android and iOS have their advantages for mobile apps development. So what we do is; when clients come with their ideas, we listen to them and carry out research on what platform their ideas will work better on.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
Well, let me say that Hybrid platform is generally less expensive to work on compared to the native platforms and most times that is what we use to build our app on. Although, depending on what the client needs we can choose any platform for the app, whether iOS or Android. But I'll recommend that clients stick with native platform. They offer great functionality to apps and apps are easier to develop on the native platform.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
The total cost of developing the app is a reflection of the design, functions and scope of the app. In addition, factors such as the screen orientation, post maintenance etc. also affects the total cost of developing the app.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
A milestone billing method is what we use for our clients. This method is essential to win the trust of our customer. Before we begin any task, we accept a down payment of 10-15% of the total cost. The remaining amount is divided into 4-5 milestones based on the project. We are also flexible regarding payment options that would be convenient for clients.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We are flexible with the kind of project we take in whether it meets our basic requirement or not. Our minimum requirement is 2500USD.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2017?
The minimum project we did was worth 2800USD while the maximum was worth 58000USD.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
To generate revenue from mobile applications, I'll suggest my clients upload their apps on a free market store so that they can access the reviews the apps get before setting price tags for their apps. This is because, if their apps doesn't gather enough reviews from users there would be no need to fix a price tag for it.
