Wolf Backbone is a backend solution structured as a microservice architecture that integrates various third party and legacy systems used within the organization. The new system monitors data changes across legacy systems, keeps data in sync, and exposes APIs that are used by frontend clients.

So, how did this partnership work and what unfolded? This is the story of teamwork, strategy, and a unique perspective, during not one but two projects. 

The partnership was more than just technical support; it was about building trust, forging relationships, and fostering an environment of growth and innovation. As part of multinational automotive manufacturer’s initiative to transform the automation of car management processes, we were entrusted with the task of developing an application to streamline the assignment of service partners for each vehicle. Our team rose to the challenge and successfully built a comprehensive ecosystem. Completed within the designated timeframe, it encompassed a whole ecosystem, new features for the microservice-based backend system with a scalable database, modern operation technologies, automation and new features for the front-end.

The customer has a global IT department that supports the company’s operations and technology needs. The customer needed to create a whole ecosystem + an application to be able to improve the assignment of service partners for each car and to add new features to the applications for attracting customers from business.

Our team successfully developed from scratch new microservices for the backend system, encompassing a scalable database, modern operational technologies, and automation. Additionally, we implemented a new microservice that handles database requests asynchronously, allowing for configurable adjustments to the number of threads and requests processed.

Understanding the growing significance of an integrated shopping experience for the installers in the HVAC installation ecosystem, Wolf GmbH joined forces with Ascendro in an initiative to redefine customer engagement. Our team built a solution that allows returning customers to access the Loyalty Program in order to make 3rd party purchases, for which they earn Loyalty Points.

We knew we had to shape our strategies to align with the distinct needs of HVAC installers. We started by finding ways to streamline in-store order management, while maintaining all the required security and stability measures. Our focus was to deliver a result that aligns with the customer needs and the Loyalty Program identity.

In an era marked by rapid technological advancements, automotive companies continually seek innovative solutions to propel their operations forward. One such endeavor is the SERVUS (Subject Guidance System) project, a testament and commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive testing and simulation.  

At the heart of this initiative is a drive to revolutionize the way autonomous driving technologies are tested and validated. By using top-notch cloud services and modern software architectures, the manufacturer aims to create a robust and flexible simulation environment that not only meets current needs but also anticipates future demands.

For the SERVUS (Subject Guidance System) project, spanning from 2021 to 2024, we focused on developing a new system for simulating real driving situations to facilitate the testing of autonomous driving virtually. This ambitious endeavor aimed to enhance the test lead process within our clients’ driving simulation center by deploying 14 simulators, usability labs, and workstations for over 150 employees. SERVUS comprised four distinct applications designed to guide test subjects, visualize simulator study activities, and assist administrators in organizing ongoing studies.

The replacement of the entire interface of an automotive manufacturer’s logistics application ushered in a new era of efficiency and innovation in the clients’ operations. By replacing an outdated interface that converted SAP IDoc data into an Oracle database, our team successfully implemented a modern and scalable solution, marking a significant milestone for the overall efficiency, scalability and monitoring levels of their systems.

As supply chains become more complex and customer expectations continue to rise, the manufacturer recognized the need to overhaul its logistics interface to maintain its competitive edge. This project was not merely a technical upgrade; it was a strategic initiative aimed at optimizing workflows, reducing operational bottlenecks, and enhancing data accuracy across the board.

In response to the evolving landscape of automotive testing, our team embarked on a mission to develop a robust solution for managing voice communication in a multinational automobile manufacturers’ test cars. Leveraging cutting-edge technologies and innovative approaches, we aimed to enhance security, efficiency, and reliability in this critical aspect of vehicle testing.

The Secure Voice Communication Management project represents a significant leap forward in automotive testing capabilities. By focusing on the development of a secure system to manage voice communication within our clients’ test cars, we aimed to create a solution that not only meets but exceeds the stringent requirements of this demanding field.

The Secure Voice Communication Management project centered on the development of a secure system to oversee voice communication within BMW’s fleet of test cars. Tasked with ensuring seamless and secure communication channels, our team delved into creating a solution that would meet the stringent requirements of automotive testing environments.

Integrating two disparate monitoring solutions with the aim of enhancing service monitoring and recovery of an existing car sharing software posed a new challenge for our team. We managed to achieve seamless data flow and real-time updates in a project that represents the first-ever integration of the solutions.

By leveraging Nagios and custom scripts, we reduced downtime and improved customer satisfaction. Our pioneering connection of internal and external monitoring sets a new industry standard and through this project we showcase innovation in carsharing services, with exceptional results in operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Central to the the multinational automobile manufacturer’s mission of ensuring the highest safety standards for its customers is the SAFER (Safety Analysis Framework for Evaluation and Research) project. SAFER serves as a pivotal tool in their commitment to continuous improvement in vehicle safety, facilitating the collection and analysis of crucial accident data through its web application interface.

The SAFER project, spanning from 2022 to 2024, was initiated with the primary objective of enhancing safety in traffic accidents involving the group’s vehicles. The directive focused on continuous development in both active and passive vehicle safety measures. At its core was SAFER, a web application designed for the collection of accident data as part of the company’s Accident Research efforts. This platform was crucial for analyzing and understanding accident patterns and contributing to ongoing safety improvements in their vehicles.

In the rapidly advancing field of smart vehicles, security and innovation are paramount. The ASBC SMACC project is a testament to this commitment, focusing on enhancing cryptographic functionality for smart device-based vehicle access. This initiative not only showcases our clients’ dedication to cutting-edge technology but also underscores their unwavering focus on customer-centric solutions.

By integrating advanced cryptographic features, the ASBC SMACC project aims to provide enhanced security and seamless user experiences for our clients’ target. Spanning from 2022 to 2024, this initiative focuses on enhancing cryptographic functionality.

The Automotive Security project, known as ASBC SMACC, represents the commitment of a German car manufacturing company to ensuring the utmost security and functionality within its vehicles. Particularly, ASBC SMACC’s cryptographic features play a crucial role in enabling smart device-based vehicle access, offering advanced security measures and seamless user experiences.

The project involved upgrading an outdated monolithic application to a modern, high-availability (HA) architecture using Amazon Web Services (AWS) High Availability (HA) Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Autoscaling solution. This transformation was accomplished using our proprietary internal migration framework approach. 

We managed to improve operational efficiency and monitoring capabilities by implementing a dedicated and specialized monitoring solution using Prometheus and Grafana. 

The monolithic application was restructured into a high-availability application.  By leveraging AWS EC2 Autoscaling, the application can now dynamically adjust its capacity and performance to maintain steady, predictable performance at the lowest possible cost. This feature automatically increases or decreases the number of EC2 instances according to the demand, enhancing the application’s scalability and reliability.

The project that span across 3 years, transformed the Carsharing platform of a multinational automobile manufacturer, propelling it into the future with a strategic migration to AWS Cloud and a microservices architecture. This modernization journey, guided by an innovative migration framework, delivered not only technological advancements but also a repeatable process applicable to any legacy project.

Our team developed and implemented a comprehensive migration framework, serving as a roadmap for the entire transformation process.

The projects’ framework addressed key areas like the initial assessment & planning, the migration strategy, the technology selection, the transformation roadmap and, ultimately, risk management and mitigation strategies.

The framework wasn’t limited to just the Carsharing platform. Its modular design and documented best practices allow for adaptation and application to various legacy projects.

For this project, we will be working closely with SciCan in order to develop a robust, cloud-based email analytics and monitoring system, utilizing the Drupal framework. This project aims to integrate Amazon SES for collecting email statistics, convert these statistics into Prometheus metrics, and provide a user-friendly interface for trend analysis and real-time alerts.

SciCan, a leading provider in its industry, aims to enhance its email campaign monitoring capabilities. The objective is to create a cloud-based system that collects detailed email sending statistics, converts these into actionable metrics, and provides a user-friendly interface for data analysis and real-time alerting.

Scican faces multiple challenges, including inefficient monitoring and analysis of email performance across campaigns, which lacks real-time insights and centralized data visualization. The need for a comprehensive system that could offer detailed analytics and prompt response to delivery issues is critical.

We aim to revolutionize log management and aggregation for cloud environments by implementing Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes (ECK). This solution enhances operational efficiency and decision-making capabilities for businesses in the cloud market through custom curator implementations and Lua scripting for clean, structured, and easily accessible logs.

We want to address the log management needs of SaaS providers, cloud infrastructure companies, and organizations with significant cloud-based operations. The primary goal is to develop a robust, scalable, and efficient log management system using ECK.

Businesses operating in the cloud services sector faced several challenges, including:

Invoice Manager is a comprehensive tool that automates and simplifies the invoicing process. In the article, we will delve into the development and deployment of the tool, highlighting its role in transforming our and our clients’ financial operations.

Prior to the implementation of Invoice Manager, we faced several invoicing challenges. Managing invoices manually often resulted in errors, misaligned payments and inefficiencies that disrupted cash flow. With contracts and rate cards for various internal teams and subcontractors, we needed a tool to ensure accurate invoicing and timely payments, while mitigating financial risks.

To address these issues, we needed an invoicing solution that would automate invoicing, enhance accuracy, and ensure compliance with all contractual obligations. Invoice Manager was the answer to these challenges.

To support companies’ commitment to employee well-being and effective project management, we’ve developed “Vacation Planner”, a complex but easy to understand tool, designed to simplify the holiday and vacation management process while ensuring transparency and compliance.

We recognized that many of our clients, particularly those managing large, distributed teams across various locations and projects, were facing challenges with vacation and holiday management. These businesses often struggled with maintaining an organized system for managing paid holidays, legal holidays across multiple countries, sick leave tracking, and vacation requests. The complexity of managing time off for a global workforce while ensuring project continuity was a recurring pain point.

To address these challenges, we developed Vacation Planner, a tailored solution designed to streamline and simplify the process of managing employee time off for our clients. Built specifically for businesses managing multi-client projects and diverse teams, the tool enables efficient handling of holiday allocation, legal compliance across regions, and sick leave tracking, all while providing predictive insights to optimize resource planning.

The Skill Matrix tool is designed to empower businesses by streamlining talent management, skill tracking, and project staffing. It provides a structured, holistic approach to managing employee skills, ensuring that the right experts are placed in the right roles while supporting continuous professional development.

Organizations often find it difficult to efficiently manage and utilize their employees’ wide range of skills, especially as projects become more specialized and complex. As teams grow, there’s a critical need to ensure that the right talent is matched with the right project at the right time.

To solve this, we developed Skill Matrix, a powerful solution designed to help businesses gain full visibility into their workforce’s skillsets—both technical and soft skills. The aim is to enable companies to track the abilities of their employees in a structured manner, identify skills gaps, and streamline the staffing process. The platform supports informed decision-making for project assignments, ensuring optimal use of talent and resources.

We built “Contract Manager,” a tool designed to streamline contract management for clients needing improved operational efficiency, compliance and transparent tracking of contractual obligations. The tool simplifies contract creation, addendums, and terminations, while ensuring TISAX certification requirements are met.

Organizations, especially those in industries where compliance and data security are crucial, face ongoing challenges in managing and tracking contractual agreements. We recognized this widespread issue among clients who needed to juggle a growing number of contracts while ensuring compliance with industry standards like TISAX, which imposes strict requirements for data security and operational transparency.

The project aimed to alleviate these challenges by developing a centralized platform, Contract Manager, that addresses the entire lifecycle of contract management. This platform simplifies the process by offering predefined templates for quick contract creation, integrated digital signatures for legal compliance and real-time tracking of contracts. By centralizing contract management, the tool ensures full visibility into active contracts and adherence to compliance standards.

The Acceptance Documents tool streamlines the process of creating detailed acceptance documents for clients, ensuring transparency and accuracy before invoicing. This tool automates data integration and document generation, saving time while enhancing client trust and operational efficiency.

Managing billing and service acceptance can be a complex challenge, especially for organizations offering custom services, where the scope of work and associated costs can vary significantly across different projects. We recognized that ensuring complete transparency and precision in this process is key to maintaining strong client relationships and avoiding potential disputes.

For this reason, we developed the Acceptance Documents tool, which not only simplifies the entire billing process but also integrates seamlessly with various project management systems to gather all necessary data. By automatically generating detailed documents that outline the services provided, costs incurred, and agreed-upon pricing structures, this tool eliminates manual errors and streamlines the approval process. This ensures that both parties have a clear understanding of the work completed before any invoices are issued.

By anonymizing and customizing CVs for each project, CV Generator strikes a balance, showing what we need to without over-sharing, and helping us build stronger relationships with clients.

We built the tool to make it easy for businesses to show off their team’s skills while protecting employee privacy. Often, companies need to provide detailed CVs to clients to prove their teams are qualified for specific projects. But sharing too much can lead to privacy issues, or even poaching. CV Generator fixes this by creating customized, anonymous CVs. This gives clients the information they need without exposing personal details, keeping the professional relationship safe and secure.

At Ascendro, we constantly seek ways to optimize our internal processes to enhance the quality and efficiency of our software development services. One of the tools that play a vital role in this endeavor is PM Autotools. Though it is an internal solution, it significantly boosts our ability to manage projects more effectively, ensuring data accuracy and compliance across the board. With PM Autotools, we’ve streamlined essential data aggregation and processing tasks, ultimately elevating our service delivery and now we want to help our clients do the same.

The PM Autotools project was developed to address the growing need for automating time log collection and processing from multiple data sources. As an internal Node.js job scheduler, it focuses on gathering and organizing essential project-related data, including time logs, across various platforms like Jira and Azure DevOps. This automation ensures that project data is not only accurate but also easily accessible for downstream processes such as billing and reporting. Although it’s an internal solution, PM Autotools has become a key driver of operational excellence.

In collaboration with TH-OWL (Technische Hochschule Ostwestfalen-Lippe), we developed the Digital Education Bridge (DEB), a full-blown room and machine booking system integrated with IoT capabilities. This solution enhances the booking experience for students and administrators while facilitating access to cutting-edge facilities in the Smart Factory.

The Digital Education Bridge serves as a booking platform that allows users to reserve machines and facilities within the Smart Factory. Designed for two user groups, Administrators and Students, the application incorporates a verification system that checks reservation statuses and ensures proper management of resources.

The application was created to address the challenges associated with organizing trade fairs. It allows companies wishing to participate to request exhibition stands and directly communicate with the event organizers. Additionally, participants can conveniently purchase or rent necessary equipment, such as monitors, through the application. The tool also features email notifications and reminders, keeping both organizers and participants informed and engaged throughout the event planning process.

Audi AG, a leading name in luxury automotive manufacturing, faced a unique challenge within their BUSNET platform—a critical desktop tool used to design, develop, and manage the electrical network of their vehicles. This platform, deeply integrated with industry-standard systems like AUTOSAR, allows for meticulous planning and organization of Audi’s vehicle electronics. However, with a legacy codebase and growing demands for new features, Audi required additional expertise to enhance BUSNET’s capabilities and maintain its high level of functionality without disrupting existing workflows. That’s where our team stepped in.

Our collaboration with Audi focused on integrating new features into the BUSNET system, managing complex dependencies, and optimizing data processing, all while adapting to an unfamiliar codebase and overcoming language barriers.

Despite the challenges, the team integrated successfully and managed to implement new features, maintain the project and prepare new release versions ensuring smooth operation of the team of engineers using the platform.

ACTICO, a global leader in software solutions for compliance, credit risk & decision management, approached us to modernize its automation platform. The platform, traditionally using SOAP endpoints for client interactions, required an upgrade to REST and Open API endpoints to meet evolving industry standards.

Our team designed and implemented a new module for ACTICO’s Execution Server to enable automated REST API generation and dynamic endpoint provisioning. We created secure access protocols and thorough integration and end-to-end testing, ensuring the solution met ACTICO’s high standards for reliability and security.

The platform that ACTICO uses to provide automation and decisioning to customers has three major components: a modeler, a model hub, and an execution server.

Managing compensation claims and insurance data manually is no longer sustainable. As teams grow and compliance demands increase, companies often find themselves juggling scattered spreadsheets, outdated workflows and missed deadlines. The risk? Slower audits, frustrated employees and operational blind spots that can impact both productivity and accuracy.

That’s where the idea behind Vision Smart Management started. Out of a real need to eliminate friction in a critical but often overlooked part of internal operations. The goal wasn’t just to digitize the process, but to build a solution that fits naturally into how teams work: intuitive, role-aware and built to reduce the noise of back-and-forths, missed notifications and fragmented data tracking.

Vision Smart Management is a custom-built digital solution developed to modernize and streamline the internal compensation and claims audit process for organizations. Designed to replace inefficient, manual workflows, the platform brings structure, clarity and automation to claims management, insurance tracking and reporting – all from one centralized application.

With the help of Ascendro, the Carsharing Platform of a multinational automobile manufacturer underwent a sweeping modernization and cloud migration initiative from 2018 to 2021, representing a significant leap forward in technology and collaboration. This project, in partnership with key stakeholders like Telekom, Sixt, DriveNow, and Munich Airport, aimed to elevate the platform’s performance, scalability, and agility, while maintaining full functionality throughout the migration process.

Ascendro was tasked with the migration from a legacy Web Master Solution with Apache Enterprise to a modern stack incorporating Java Enterprise, GlassFish/Payara, Jenkins, Docker, SonarQube, Postgresql, HiveMQ, MQs, and Nodejs.

For this project, we focused on upgrading technology stacks, enhancing performance, and implementing a microservices architecture to ensure seamless operations during the migration. With a diverse team of over 10 internal and external partners, effective collaboration and coordination were paramount to project success.

As part of the development process, the Complains, AML and CTF modules were designed to seamlessly integrate with third-party international companies that specialize in transaction validation. Project Summary

Developing the Media and Download Center in the given timeframe 60 days represented a challenge that we have overcome successfully, but with hard work, since the process was not as efficient as we would have wished it to be nor the environment was on our side.

We ensure, besides developing new features and pages (insert features and pages if needed here), that the Wolf website stays in tune with the modern SEO requirements, looks fresh and is as fast as possible. We are not necessarily just problem solvers, we improve upon the existing platform.

We delivered 85 Frontend User stories over the course of 60 working days, considering that some of them still need adjustments and fixes / integrations with the backend. 

Our goal at the end was to create a Download Center , using across the website , not just in Mediacenter Pages , which we mostly accomplished.

Samsung needed to implement a robust release management system within the PHP Framework Yii2 to effectively track the complete release cycle of all Samsung phones, including their binaries, installed applications, and respective application versions. 

After being selected as Samsung’s technology partner, our team established a close collaboration with the customer’s project team to gain an extensive understanding of their requirements, and subsequently developed a tailored solution that fully addressed Samsung’s needs.

We have built the release management software that is currently the central knowledge base within Samsung North America for device and service release deployments into the US market. Now, due to the automation of the release process, the accuracy and reliability of release data has improved, reducing errors and minimizing the risk of delays.

Project Summary

In order to build customer trust, Wolf needed to develop an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) with the most important functionalities of the applications’ final version to be presented at ISH Fair. The main objective of the MVP was to show the potential of the application, the usability and the necessity for it.  

Some of the specific needs that the company wanted to cover included: the possibility for the customers access data about the heating systems’ malfunctions (unexpected behavior, offline status, warranty expired, system update, etc.) and check on the general health of the systems.  The project involved several applications and automated systems that needed to be integrated with each other, all within a tight time frame. However, our team successfully managed to build a completely functional MVP to be showcased at the Fair.

Car-sharing Communication System (CSCOM) handles the communication between the vehicles and BMW Group customers in the context of the ODM platform. It replaced the CSBE (Car Sahring Backend System) infratuture through a highly complex microservice architecture. Communication was done over MQTT and REST.

As part of a full takeover of several web platforms of Agentur Konsens, we implemented Pneumo Akademie in the Yii2 Technology, a platform that provided accreditation points for doctors in Germany. A multiple page textbook had to be worked through, followed by an exam that had to be completed.

Our team was able to develop a reliable and user-friendly platform that met the specific requirements of the customer. The platform was integrated with the DocCheck platform to provide an even more comprehensive service to doctors. Our team also provided excellent customer service and maintenance support, which helped to build a strong relationship with the customer.

Project Summary

In the mission to revolutionize the mobile quiz game market, Friends4Media had to launch an application around a mobile quiz game, in just three months. We took the challenge and delivered on time a microservice-based backend system with scalable databases, modern operation technologies, and automation.

In only a few months, we consolidated a team of over 50 people, built a tenant manager in Yii2 and a full AWS environment with an operations team. The whole process included the development, testing, integration and live environments as infrastructure and code. We implemented backend systems and configurators in Node.js, as well as backend services, react frontend and java services. 

The implementation involved a large scalable NoSQL database as core, together with complicated data processing mechanisms.

We delivered 1905 User Stories, including 6299 tasks over the course of 205 working days.  

We focused on setting up the whole infrastructure in less than one year, which included more than 81 micro services and modules and 7 frontend applications. 

In just a few days, it was possible to spawn different quiz game apps. The platform was versatile and could support multiple game modes - from live tournaments to simple quiz games for millions of users. The operations were automated and it was possible to deploy, update or scale the complete stack with the click of a button.
