Shopify headless commerce was the first solution overcoming the challenge of a lack of functionality. Headless e-commerce is a modern solution providing greater developer freedom and easier content management. Of course, transitioning from liquid template to headless e-commerce meant we had to update a number of plugins. The next solution focused on the challenge of increasing sales and improving conversion rates. Additionally, we conducted user interviews and created buyer personas. All this led to redesigning the desktop and mobile interface and UX. Finally, vigorous evaluation with A/B testing and improvements. We had fantastic results and several key features were added.

We needed a dedicated development team to build the product. We needed a contractor who could provide us with a dedicated, unified team of people who were willing to challenge and ask tough questions and explore the best options on their own rather than doing tasks. Because it was an embedded team, which changed a bit over time, the scope of work was also dynamic to build out their business opportunities. We started with a super strong team of one senior frontend and senior backend developer. We then expanded the team into, when we were the most people were about 20 people. After the cooperation with Fourmeta, we have provided complex, online tools for our customers. We used a hybrid between SCRUM and Agile, using stand-up meetings as well as continuous resisting of priorities.

As expected from the team, the project was completed on time and we launched the website earlier than expected. Our main goal was to improve the user interface and features of our web portal. The brand personality, look and feel of the brand were well expressed through various web portal strategies and applications, marketing ad campaigns and SEO content, resulting in a 270% increase in website traffic and a 2% increase in conversation rate.

I contacted software development teams and negotiated with them. In the end, we chose to work with Fourmeta because they have hands-on experience. As a result, Fourmeta developed a product - a new website of our company, which partially performs the functions of a CRM system and a corporate portal. As part of the project, we were able to create excellent foundation and structure of the system, which now includes the experience of other site versions, which is essential for our sustainable development. Now working with the site has become more accessible and more efficient. We continue to develop it actively - we are working on search engine optimization and porting our old CRM system to the browser.

Kindly share your feedback on how Goodfirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.

Goodfirms has a solid reputation and is one of the primary sources where potential partners can check and confirm our experience and portfolio cases. An unbiased, professional source of information is valuable to potential partners and, therefore, valuable to us. We want to continue to increase our visibility and build our reputation with the help of Goodfirms.

Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organisation.

Fourmeta is a UK-based, full-service digital agency providing design, development, and marketing services. We help other businesses, both start-ups and large enterprises, to reach their business goals. I am one of the founders and serve as CEO at Fourmeta. I oversee many current client projects and am focused on client satisfaction.

What is the story behind starting this company?

Initially, we started with just a few people who made up a digital product development team. We had a UX designer, UI designer, and full stack developers and were having much success, and with that came more projects. We noticed a tectonic shift in the digital age and created Fourmeta to be agile and navigate through this ever-changing technological landscape.

We started building our team with talented individuals specializing in specific technologies or industries. This allowed us to take on even more projects and become the company we are today. Our clients appreciated the attention to detail we retained from our times of being a small agency.

What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?

We primarily work using the in-house team model. We have honed and perfected a process that ensures we complete work efficiently and by the deadline. We find this approach more rewarding as a collaboration between different disciplines aids the creative process. We occasionally provide one of our skilled designers or developers to other companies we partner with for short-term projects.

How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?

Our user-centered approach coupled with data-driven insights differentiates us from the competition. Instead of looking around and trying to copy or one-up other agencies, we focus on our internal growth. This mindset has helped our company to differentiate itself with impeccable client satisfaction, brilliant UX design, and future-proof development services.

What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?

We have worked with companies specializing in Fintech, Web3, eCommerce, real estate, hospitality, and more. Many potential clients approach us for eCommerce services, including designing and developing websites and apps and marketing eCommerce. We provide a wide range of services in this field. We, of course, make websites of all kinds but excel at bespoke software solutions. We have recently continued working on fascinating Web3 projects developing apps and websites based on blockchain. A good portion of our clients keep us on for continued projects or to provide maintenance services. Also, many reach out to us when they are ready to expand or even start a new venture. We appreciate these long-term partnerships, as we have noticed it is most rewarding to see a business have lasting success.

Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?

We began as a digital product development agency with UX design at its core, and it has come full circle in the sense that we are often approached for this service. We have a great team that excels at user research, testing, interviewing, and analysis. In addition, in the last two years, we have seen a significant uptick in eCommerce projects as the pandemic has changed the approach to business for many. We have been working on eCommerce websites, apps, and audits. Audits and discovery sessions help us to take existing websites and optimize and future-proof them.

What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?

We, of course, strive for 100% customer satisfaction, but there are nuances. We are always proud of the work we deliver to our clients, and they are ecstatic and thrilled when seeing the final results. But that is not enough. To ensure we exceed our client expectations, we have added several key indicators, including sprints, NPS, and other evaluations.
Our sprints are built not only around final deliverables but what would provide the most value and return on investment. When we receive net promoter scores (NPS), we review them carefully and make adjustments if needed. We strive to have total customer satisfaction throughout the process, including communication, meeting deadlines, and clarifying requests. We are still striving to improve in these areas, but our sole focus is the client's success. Their success is ours, so we take this point very seriously.

What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?

As mentioned, communication is vital, so we set up a communication channel, be it slack, a messenger of their choice, or other platforms. Our project managers constantly keep in touch with clients, which helps us avoid serious issues. We also establish specific points in the project at the outset with deliverables that we show at client meetings.

These regular updates help our clients see the work being done and the process in its entirety. These meetings are also a good opportunity to listen to the clients and see how we can implement any requests. We deploy individual Clickup boards where clients can see what tasks are being worked on and Zendesk for task requests.

What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)

We mostly employ a ‘pay per milestone’ approach, especially if the project has several specific phases or sections. Phases can include discovery, UX design, UI design, and development. An estimate is compiled based on the ‘time and material method’. Afterward, we usually employ a fixed cost structure with an hourly rate for maintenance and consultation services.

Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

We often take on small projects and see them as an opportunity to show our value. We look for clients that have projects with a lot of potentials and are committed to perfecting their products. Our minimum budget is a 50-hour project.  Many current clients and former clients started off as an audition of sorts. We have completed small projects (several thousand $) and then expanded the scope and the length of our partnership.

What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2021?

The price range starts at several thousand and is a couple of days long. We take on these smaller projects, realizing they may grow into a budding relationship. These humble beginnings have led to vast projects of up to $500K.

Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?

I see Fourmeta as a premier agency not just in London but known globally. I envision a company filled with true craftsmen and specialists so we can take on all projects. I want Fourmeta to produce work that is not only quality but also moving and worthwhile. We are focusing our efforts on emerging tech including AI, VR, and AR as we believe they are here to stay. Fourmeta stands for a world where the human element is not lost in digitalization and AI. Our name represents a combination of ‘Industry 4.0’ and the concept of ‘meta’ - the most efficient tactic. We make promises of tomorrow the reality of today. This was our mission then and is our mission now and we expect to reach the pinnacle within the next 10 years.
