Please provide your feedback on how GoodFirms has contributed to increasing your visibility among potential clients.
I’m hoping to see some referrals from the Good Firms platform now that we’re optimizing the listing for Numinix.
Please introduce your company and describe your role within the organization.
Numinix Web Development is a specialized eCommerce web development agency and consultancy with over 17 years of experience helping websites fulfill their potential. My role consists of two primary functions. Lead Client Success Manager and Director of Business Development. By focusing on enabling our clients to scale and supporting their growth, I can also train and build a team to spread this philosophy far and wide.
What inspired the founding of your company, and what is the story behind its inception?
Numinix was founded to help eCommerce businesses tackle the challenges of selling in an ever-changing technology landscape, whose uptime is essential to business and needs the support of a highly technical and knowledgeable team. We’ve been able to translate our experience into best practices for newer and smaller store owners looking to grow. The company started from a college idea, much like Facebook, Apple or Google did. However, we’ve yet to realize the same growth that they have.
What are the core values and principles that drive your company's culture, and how do you ensure alignment with these values across your team?
Our core values revolve around quality of work and the happiness of our employees. Everything else falls into place after that. Our clients appreciate our staff and how hard they work to deliver exceptional standards in Web Design and Development and our staff can achieve their goals and know they are supported to excel in their careers.
Can you highlight some of the key achievements or milestones your company has accomplished since its inception?
Working on famous websites that we unfortunately can’t advertise.
Building an eCommerce platform that can onboard businesses quickly
Having near 24/7 support for clients
Helping over 5000 businesses
Could you explain your company's business model? Do you primarily operate with an in-house team or utilize third-party vendors/outsourcing?
Numinix has an in-house team across 3 major time zones to offer 24-hour support 5-6 days a week in most cases. We offer Design and Web Development, backend and API programming as well as marketing through our sister company, Trek.
Most clients choose monthly plans that act as retainers to put towards each or any of those services, but we can also work on single or multiple projects at a time.
The Client Success Managers work together to have trusted partners to refer clients to in areas that they may need when running a website, such as shipping, payments, hosting, etc.
How does your company differentiate itself from competitors in the industry?
It’s becoming increasingly more difficult to differentiate from the competition, especially when you factor in open source ideals where we try to collaborate with our competitors in a community. We’d like to think we can all grow together.
However, I have not seen another development firm offer so much insight, tracking, customer service, compassion, and high-quality workmanship at the price point that Numinix does. You really do get the best of both worlds once you invest in the Numinix process.
How would you describe the dynamics within your team, and how do you foster collaboration and teamwork to achieve common goals?
Numinix uses the Agile framework and Scrum methodology in order to manage projects across team members. This framework defines the meeting schedules to follow in order to collaborate and succeed in a fast-paced technology environment.
Numinix tweaks this by ensuring the needs of team members are met, both physically and culturally to ensure engineering mindsets are supported and challenged by operational and business mindsets too.
What measures do you take to support the professional development and growth of your employees? Do you offer training programs or opportunities for skill enhancement?
Employees are trained internally and Numinix will fund external courses that are either suggested by the company or brought forward by the team/individual. We believe in empowering employees for success.
Could you share a notable success story or case study that exemplifies the impact your company has had on a client's business?
Numinix built an API-based ordering system for one of our bigger clients, and it grew into a headless eCommerce platform that increased their business to over $20 million a year through their retail websites, and smartphone apps to support their vertical integration in their industry. Over a 300% increase in revenue since that project launched.
What industries do you primarily cater to, and do you have a significant percentage of repeat clients? If so, what is the ratio of repeat clients?
Numinix primarily caters to eCommerce websites, but their industries vary. Our aim is to make our clients the best in the industry so we tend not to have much overlap. We’re pretty much 99% repeat business. Our best value is as a long-term partner to help businesses grow and navigate the eCommerce landscape.
What initiatives does your company undertake to foster innovation and stay at the forefront of industry trends? Do you invest in research and development projects?
We’ve built over 100 Plugins for the Zen Cart platform, and are doing the same for other platforms in time. We’ve also built an eCommerce platform ourselves, so we’re at the forefront of innovation in the eCommerce world.
A personal goal of mine is to be ahead of the game when it comes to augmented reality. I think there will be a lot of eCommerce opportunities once wearable technology becomes more common and affordable.
Please share some of the most sought-after services that clients approach your company for.
Debugging is a really great icebreaker for us. Clients come to us when they or their current developer has issues fixing a problem and we can usually get the more technical bugs resolved. Then we can review their business and show where we can offer the most value as an experienced dev agency and try to find a fit and a budget to match. We were also listed on GT Metrix as their preferred dev partner before we switched to focusing on Google’s Pagespeed insight so the results of our Speed Optimization work covered SEO rankings as well as User Experience.
How do you build and maintain strong relationships with your clients, and what mechanisms do you have in place for gathering and acting upon client feedback?
Our Client Success Managers' full focus is on the relationship with the client. We maintain a good ratio of Clients to CSMs to make sure we have time to meet with clients and hear their feedback firsthand. We also have surveys sent at the end of every ticket request in case clients have more feedback or some particular to a single issue.
How has your company adapted to changes and challenges in the business landscape, and what strategies have you employed to ensure resilience and sustainability?
Numinix traditionally worked a hybrid model, with employees working 1 optional day a week at home. Like most companies, during Covid lockdowns, we shifted to remote and we’ve embraced that now adding remote team members more and more as we grow. Plenty of challenges lie in managing remote team members, but we invest in people, and that requires trust and effort from both sides. We are pleased to continue in that vein.
What payment structure do you typically follow when billing clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, or Pay per Milestone (phases, months, versions, etc.)?
Numinix offers flat-rate services, subscriptions, and hourly-rate projects. We can be flexible as long as it’s reasonable and mutually beneficial.
Do you accept projects that meet your basic budget requirements? If yes, what is the minimum budget requirement? If no, what is the minimum budget you have worked with in the past?
We can install a free plugin for as little as $50 and then work with the client to find value in additional services. Our website can be used as a self-service portal for them to find value. We can also take on projects upwards of $200k and fit them into our current processes. We’re well set up to meet clients' needs.
Can you provide an overview of the price range (minimum and maximum) of the projects your company worked on in 2023?
$130-$50,000 in 2023.
What technological capabilities does your company possess, and are there any ongoing or planned investments in technology infrastructure or tools to enhance your services?
Our team has built a full eCommerce platform. We will be adding features to that continuously.
Where do you envision your company in the next 10 years? What are your long-term goals and aspirations for growth and development?
In the next 10 years, we’d like Numinix to be able to continue to manage its existing core clients and become a bigger player in the eCommerce field. Our ambitions are nothing without our clients and we’ll focus on making sure our clients are happy first and foremost. After that, we hope to have stumbled upon a few new trends that will help us grow and that we can share with our clients to grow them too.
