OmniSpear partnered with Scott’s Add-Ins to design and build a cloud-connected SaaS product that extends Microsoft Excel with live financial reporting capabilities. We created an Excel add-in that integrates directly with Xero and QuickBooks, allowing users to query real-time financial data, perform multi-entity consolidations, and manage subscription-based billing—while staying within the Excel environment they already know.

The application includes custom Excel functions (account balances, vendor/customer balances, chart of accounts, etc.), consolidation across multiple entities, and a scalable subscription and billing system. The services OmniSpear provided encompassed full architecture, building a complex online application, ongoing maintenance, and web app development.

The results speak to the impact: thousands of paying subscriptions globally, substantial time savings for accountants (turning processes that once took hours into clicks inside Excel), and scalable usage across accounting firms managing dozens of clients. Scott's Add-Ins highlights how combining domain knowledge with technical execution can deliver tools that finance teams actually love to use.

Project Background & Challenge
Intellicasting needed to turn its proven restaurant-management processes—built over years of hands-on QSR (quick-service restaurant) experience—into a subscription-based SaaS platform. The client’s existing tools were powerful but fragmented: reliant on manual spreadsheets, difficult to maintain, hard to distribute, and limited in scalability. Key requirements included: a web application that works well on any device; a mobile app to support scheduling and team communication; secure integrations (POS systems, payment processors, etc.); and strong user management and scalable infrastructure.

Solution & Results
OmniSpear built a fully integrated web & mobile platform, cloud-based and built for growth. Among the main deliverables: a responsive web app; native (iOS & Android) apps for real-time scheduling, alerts, and team collaboration; a centralized API; a secure, scalable back end; dashboards and financial reporting including “what-if” scenario modeling; mobile/vehicle fleet tools; inventory management; and an admin back end to handle billing, user management, marketing tool integration, etc. 

The outcome: Intellicasting successfully shifted from static spreadsheets to a full SaaS model, with thousands of paying users. Benefits included faster onboarding, reduced operational overhead, improved scalability for multi-unit restaurant chains, more adaptable permissions and features, and stronger ROI.

OmniSpear reworked CompuNet’s patient scheduling and check-in workflow by replacing their existing third-party system with a custom, mobile-friendly scheduling app that’s ADA-compliant. Key features include SMS reminders, selection of service locations, easy check-in via kiosk (with an iPad interface), and powerful administrative controls. OmniSpear also built analytics tools so staff can monitor appointment volumes, wait times, staff performance, and patient satisfaction in real time.

The project delivered measurable benefits: patients get faster, simpler scheduling and reminders; staff have better tools for managing the system and communicating; and CompuNet sheds ongoing third-party fees. The system was built with scalability in mind, allowing for future expansion (e.g. online payments, insurance checks, advanced reporting). Overall, it greatly improved patient experience, reduced costs, and boosted operational efficiency.

By downloading the application, which is available at the App Store, residents have the flexibility and ease of paying both rent and utilities in a snap and in one convenient location. OmniSpear designed and built a custom mobile app for the Dayton Air Show, one of the Midwest’s biggest aviation events drawing over 75,000 attendees annually. The goal was to create a dependable, scalable app for both attendees and event staff, with real-time updates, interactive mapping, and intuitive navigation. The Andersens, a well-known home & garden brand, needed to modernize their digital infrastructure to support business growth, reduce technical debt, and ensure consistency across both web and mobile channels. Their previous setup included an outdated CMS, a mobile app built with Xamarin (which was being deprecated), and fragile integrations with third-party services, all of which were becoming costly to maintain and risky for downtime or performance issues. 

OmniSpear addressed these issues by migrating their eCommerce site from CraftCMS to Shopify (adding features like subscriptions, product bundles, loyalty rewards, and back-in-stock alerts), upgrading the mobile app to React-Native, and building a custom middleware/API layer to unify the web, app, and external services. This new setup improved stability, offered better scalability, enhanced security, and streamlined operations. The solution created a more resilient ecosystem that lets The Andersons innovate faster and serve customers more smoothly across all platforms.
