Healthcare & Medical

I Peace, Inc. is a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) specializing in iPSC-derived cell products. They provide cGMP manufacturing services and personal iPSC banking services. iPSCs are induced pluripotent stem cells, which hold promise in the field of regenerative medicine because they can propagate indefinitely, as well as give rise to every other cell type in the body (such as neurons, heart, pancreatic, and liver cells). They represent a single source of cells that could be used to replace those lost to damage or disease.

Founded in 2015, I Peace is a pioneer in the iPSC space. We were asked to support their launch as they opened their new office in Palo Alto, CA. To this end we designed and built their online presence in three languages and have been supporting their growth in various ways ever since.

By bringing entrepreneurial vision and solid venture backing to the fields of healthcare and life sciences, Catalys Pacific serves as an instrument for real positive change in the lives of real people. Our engagement with them began as a collaboration with the wildly talented US-based design studio FORT. Our goal was to bring to life the new online presence for Catalys, a stunning, video-rich website which articulates the firm’s trans-pacific roots and commitment to bringing innovative and effective treatments and medicines to the masses.

The implementation was challenging. Most pages incorporate large-format, high-resolution video content that needs to play smoothly, work well across device types, and be lightweight enough to load instantly. We chose a headless WordPress architecture, thus separating the website front-end from the back-end CMS that allowed us to realize a super-lightweight static internet-facing website which loads quickly and offers rock-solid security.

The result? A gorgeous, impactful design that captivates visitors while at the same time looking beautiful to search engines.

SBI Pharmaceuticals is a member of the SBI group of companies managed under SBI Holdings, Inc., a publicly-traded Japanese firm with interests spanning finance, lending, insurance, asset management, venture capital, and biotech. SBI Pharma develops pharmaceutical, health food, and cosmetic products that contain 5-Aminolevlinic acid (5-ALA) as the main active ingredient.

They approached us looking for help creating a new, modern, and world-ready website that would present the firm more positively online and serve as a resource for their various audiences. To this end we created a new, WordPress-based bi-lingual website that has proven to be successful across every one of our target metrics.

To kick things off we performed competitor research, looking closely at five different competitors’ online presence and positioning before providing the client with our findings, a technical summary, and recommendations.

We then conducted a requirements definition process through discussion and ideation with various client stakeholders, and used this as the basis for a formal project proposal and scope of work. Once signed we got started, following our standard website development process and kicking off with information architecture, including the content structure of the website (sitemap) and per-template page layouts (using wireframes, below). Along the way we also developed some nice features, such as the Google Maps-based clinic finder you see below.

All in all the project was a great success for all involved. Take a look at the new website yourself by visiting https://www.sbipharma.co.jp/.

My Peace is a “Personal iPS Cell Banking Service” launched by Palo Alto-based biotech startup I Peace, with which we have worked with for some years. iPS cells can be used to create various types of cells in the human body, including heart, brain, and blood, and a wide range of applications are expected in regenerative medicine and drug discovery. A pioneer in the cell banking space, My Peace offers a wide range of services, including comprehensive medical exams to customers who wish to utilize their iPS cell banking services.

We were tasked with developing a web-based business system and website for My Peace that would explain details and benefits of the service, while at the same time incorporating robust operational functionality for onboarding applicants and automating various workflows. To this end we not only designed and developed the technology end-product, but also were heavily involved in developing the system specifications and operational workflows. Later, we localized the platform into both English and Chinese.
