https://best-lombard.com.ua/ is a website of the private pawnshop "Naikrashchiy Lombard" (Best Pawnshop). It is a network of branches in Ukraine.

Our company has developed a bilingual website based on Bitrix CMS.

The main task was to create a personal account of a pawnshop client. The user can check active contracts and pay interest on them.

Here is a list of key works that we have done for the project:

• Development of a convenient personal account design focused on cell phone users.
• Website layout and programming. Design of a bilingual website: Ukrainian and Russian languages.
• Integration with 1C using SOAP API for data exchange under pawnshop customer contracts. Transfer of data on payment statuses in 1C.

• Multi-Step authentication, confirmation by phone number, limited session time, Google Captcha to ensure the security of user data.

Our cooperation with the online store https://glossary.ua/ began in 2019, and we are still supporting and developing the project.

Red Chameleon takes on 100% of the work on site maintenance, error correction, maintaining the functionality, editing of the visual part, as well as search engine promotion.

During this time, we have been working on all possible areas of website development:

• redesign;
• layout and integration of pages;
• use of multilingualism;
• creation of individual functionality;
• integration with ERP and external services;
• technical SEO-optimization;
• and others.

It was a considerable difficulty because the project was originally developed and refined by various studios. We received non-optimized code that did not take into account the features and policies of the platform. This made it difficult to edit, update and create new functionality.

There were some interesting tasks:

• development of a discount program on specification from the client;
• conducting systematic promotions (for holidays and sales days).

To implement the above-mentioned, the special pages, catalog sections are made, active elements are added to the site pages and, of course, a special discount functionality is developed.

A separate pool of development tasks is related to the search engine promotion of the project. The programmers of the Red Chameleon introduced a number of edits of SEO-specialists on technical optimization of the site, and significantly improved the filtering of goods, and the display of recommended elements on the pages. https://glossary.ua/ is an online store of organic goods, which has been operating since 2010.

The starting point – the search optimization of the project wasn't done, the site is maintained and upgraded by the developers of the Red Chameleon.

The purpose – to fix technical errors and to increase the targeted traffic.

During the first iteration of the implementation of the amendments, the found problems were solved. And we got the initial results:

• the correct indexing of important pages began to be established;
• half of the site crawl errors disappeared;
• the number of indexed pages without errors from the sitemap became proper;
• the number of pages that get into the index without a sitemap was decreased.

The problems that were difficult to detect without first edits were found during the second iteration (November 2020):

• indexing rules were optimized;
• site maps were customized;
• the correct server response (404) was ensured for non-existent pages.

In terms of months, we increased traffic from 1,788 unique people in July to 3,873 visitors in January 2021 - almost 2.2 times:

In the next stage we worked with:

• fixing meta tag templates, headers;
• optimization of pages;
• increase of snippet clickability in Google search results;
• promotion of priority sections;
• implementation of semantic filters.

All these works were carried out gradually during 2021. Also at the end of the year we began working with external links.

In specific figures, the result looks like this: from 1788 (July 2020) to 6700 (January 2022).

Thus, thanks to the technical optimization of the site, the elimination of critical errors, as well as work on the internal optimization of the resource we managed to increase the flow of visitors by 3.75 times or 275%.

The starting point – the site of a medical clinic (https://weclinica.ua/) about 3 years old, no search optimization has been done.

The purpose of the first stage was to find and fix technical errors on the site that prevented indexing and worsened ranking.

Tasks:

• conducting a comprehensive audit of the technical optimization of the site;
• elimination of problems in conjunction with the developer.

Our cooperation with the Weekend Clinic (Kyiv) in the field of search promotion began with a detailed technical optimization audit.

For an in-depth study of the web project condition, we check it for more than 85 factors that somehow can affect the indexing and ranking of pages in search.

What the audit showed

We analysed the project and found a number of problems that prevented normal indexing of important pages and their top ranking. Some URLs with a search capacity were not in the Google index at all.

Among the problems were:

• the non-glued site mirrors with www and without www;
• extra rules in robots.txt that create conflicts with the “canonical”, “index” attributes, as well as incorrect ways to limit page indexing;
• incorrectly implemented pagination;
• problems with the sitemap in XML;
• many technical pages duplicates generated by CMS;
• same page internal links;
• errors in the implementation of multilingual support.

All these troubles generated a lot of content indexing errors. Google Search Console showed such a picture:

We proposed revisions aimed at eliminating errors and improving the situation.

The first result

Usually, we have to wait for a long time to notice the effect of optimizations. That is why it is important to implement SEO recommendations as soon as possible.

The audit report after the client’s approval was handed over to the RedChameleon’s developers for immediate solving problems.

And our tactics showed a quite quick result. A week after programmers started to work, we saw a significant increase in traffic:

Both impressions and clicks in Google Search Console more than doubled.

The first changes, which Google responded well to, were related to merging mirrors with and without www. Page-by-page traffic analysis showed that addresses with www were actively excluded from the search.

At the same time, URLs without www began to receive significantly more impressions and clicks in Google search results.

This is clear evidence that even one seemingly insignificant mistake can greatly slow down the promotion of a web project and prevent attracting customers.

Outcome

The overall result of making all the changes to the site by programmers and content managers was an increase in traffic to almost 7000 (6982 at the peak) transitions to the site per day from Google search:

Since the beginning of audit implementation, traffic has increased by almost 7 times.

This case is a vivid example of the fact that you should not neglect the technical part of the optimization. A properly configured server, no duplicates, and correctly organised indexing management can make a website friendly to the search engine.

The client's main website was created on the Bitrix CMS, which was not suitable to solve the tasks.
