Kindly share your feedback on how GoodFirms has been doing so far in increasing your visibility among potential clients.
GoodFirms has been a valuable platform for increasing our visibility and raising awareness. It is a key platform for potential partners to explore our portfolio and experience.
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the organization.
I am the co-founder and CTO of Upsilon, a digital product studio. Our company operates as a hybrid entity, combining the development of our own B2B SaaS products with providing technical partnerships to rapidly expanding businesses. Our primary objective is to give founders and startups a hand in bringing their ideas to life swiftly, effectively, and with minimal risks.

Throughout our decade-long presence in the industry, we have successfully created and delivered dozens of products for innovative technology companies worldwide. Some notable clients include LiveArt, Spotnana, Colectrium, and others.
What is the story behind starting this company?
Upsilon started as an outsourcing company focused on writing clean code and building functionality. However, we soon realized that we were missing the bigger picture of product ideation, launch, and management from a business perspective.

Through delivering projects to our clients, we gained valuable experience and our team grew more cross-functional. This allowed us to take on more complex projects and expand our service offering. We transformed into a full-service tech partner, providing product design, development, management, and delivery.

Our experience working on client projects led us to become a product studio. We constantly strive to enhance our experience, making it more delightful, effective, and productive. This led to the creation of our own products such as OneBar, ToDoBot, and OrgaNice.

As a result, we successfully combine two businesses that complement each other. We act as a tech partner for our clients, treating each project as if it were our own startup. Simultaneously, we continue to cultivate innovation and a product-first mindset within the company by developing our own B2B SaaS solutions.
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We have an in-house team that operates across the globe without being tied to the office or workplace. We bring together a team of professionals with diverse backgrounds and skill sets that collaborate closely with our clients to deliver exceptional products. As a result, all products we develop remain competitive and innovative.
How does your company differentiate itself from the competition?
First of all, we are a product studio, not just another software agency. This means that you will have a committed partner who will share and implement your long-term product strategy and help develop a product that effectively solves customer problems.

We also have strong values that we live by every day. These values serve as a public contract between our entire team our clients, partners, and the community we are building. For example, we prioritize fully transparent communication and fluid collaboration during projects, we take personal responsibility for our shared success and fulfill our commitments not only to clients but also to ourselves, we believe that being faster is better than being perfect when it comes to building an MVP and validating product hypotheses, among other values.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
We primarily work with startups and SaaS B2B businesses. We prioritize long-term partnerships. One of our clients holds the record for the longest partnership duration, spanning 10 years and involving the development of 3 products together. Our recurring customers serve as the strongest evidence of our capability to handle projects of any complexity and scale.
Please share some of the services that you offer for which clients approach you the most for?
Our clients are early-stage startups (<$100K) and growth-stage businesses ($1M+). We provide early-stage startups with MVP development services where they get a working product to help them validate business hypotheses, collect early feedback, and attract potential investors. And if we are talking about growth-stage businesses, they opt for team augmentation services to scale their product faster than competitors.

We offer CTO-as-a-Service to support non-technical founders. This service provides entrepreneurs with C-level tech guidance to ensure the success of their products and help them achieve their business goals with increased confidence.
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
We collect customer reviews on Goodfirms and I guess the 5-star reviews speak for themselves. We are open to any feedback from our clients because it serves as a guiding resource for the growth of our company and a strong foundation for improving customer satisfaction.

We have a well-structured process for collecting our clients' requirements. In most cases, we begin with the discovery phase, where we delve into the client's business objectives, determine core features and potential roadblocks, and assist in analyzing the market. We also strive to understand the problem our customer is attempting to solve. This information helps us gain a better understanding of the business needs and provide the best possible solution.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
Since we are trying to build fully transparent relations with our clients, we add them to our Slack using Slack Connect. It allows us to work quickly and collaboratively with outside organizations and our clients to get faster and more transparent communication with our team.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We offer our clients two basic pricing models to choose from: Pay per Milestone and Fixed Cost. If we are talking about the first option, we have sprint-based pricing. Each sprint is broken down into 2 weeks. We set up the sprint goal define the scope of work for the sprint and start working. Such an approach allows us to accelerate value delivery to let our clients validate ideas, gain traction, and attract investments in less time.
Another option is Fixed Cost, which is perfect for long-term projects with a predefined scope.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Upsilon mainly collaborates with early-stage startups and growth-stage businesses. Typically, the projects we undertake cost $15k or more, depending on the product requirements, scope of work, duration, and other factors.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2022?
There is no universal answer. The price range may vary depending on many factors, including the pricing model, specialists' expertise level, project complexity, timeframe, etc. The rough numbers will be around $30k and more.
Where do you see your company in the next 10 years?
10 years from now, Upsilon intends to continuously reinvent and adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of the web and mobile app development industry. We aim to help startups develop products that effectively solve customer problems and have great potential for market success. Additionally, we plan to continue developing our own SaaS products, making them profitable and helpful for users.

One thing that will remain unchanged is our relentless pursuit of customer satisfaction and delivering best-in-class solutions to our amazing clients.

Upsilon partnered with Oculocare medical, a digital health company based in Switzerland, on the development of the Alleye platform, a telemedicine service in ophthalmology.

It consists of two components: a mobile app for patients and a web application for healthcare professionals. The Alleye app allows patients to detect and monitor retinal diseases. Healthcare professionals can access their patient’s results via alleye.io, a modern web application delivering complete security and compliance, including EU GDPR and HIPAA.

The platform's growing impact in ophthalmology can be illustrated by the following numbers:

138% increase in tests performed compared to 2020;

> 85% of patients are correctly classified when monitoring age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema;

80% of patients getting an Alleye alarm showed signs of progression in macular disease.

We helped our customer, a Music Tech Company, develop a web version of their Social Music Platform.

The Music Tech Company’s goal was to bring its Social Music Platform to the web in order to reach more users who prefer to use browsers rather than mobile applications. UpsilonIT team was tasked with delivering three functional and visual parts: music playback, playlist management, and user profile design.

After 5 months of work, our team provided the client with an effective solution: a full-featured all-in-one web application for music recording, producing, streaming, and sharing.

As a result, users got a Web Social Music Platform that provided all the functionality that was previously available only in the mobile app. Also, it is mobile-friendly and responsive across all screen resolutions.

Review Summary

Upsilon are an incredible group of professionals. First of all, their work product is of excellent standard and they deliver everything in scope to a t. What is more, they work with you as team members. This means they are flexible in ways of working and, more critically, take "ownership" of the project. Several times, their team suggested better alternate ways of accomplishing a product goal. From the team leads to the developers, they are above and beyond.

Review Summary

I had the pleasure of working with Upsilon on the design and build of Impromptu Slack App. The Upsilon team were amazing and hands down the best partners I could have asked for. As a non-technical founder, I was searching for a development agency that I could trust and that were willing to partner with me on my vision and bring my product idea to life. I needed a team that had deep technical expertise of Slack Apps and that were able to take my idea and design and build it in Slack. The team have gone above and beyond delivering an exceptional MVP on time and within budget.

Upsilon have become a true partner and an extension to my business, and I look forward to continuing to partner with Upsilon over the years ahead. I would not have an amazing MVP to pilot with businesses without Upsilon’s expertise. I highly recommend Upsilon to anyone looking for a top-notch development agency.
