Challenge

While designing and developing the app, the Vodworks team faced a number of challenges:

• Implementing a compass overlay on the map to guide users to the next waypoint effectively.
• Ensuring location agnosticism, allowing seamless integration of location and direction data from various providers like Google Maps, Apple Maps, Foursquare, and more.
• Developing an ad-serving engine that caters to user-specific interests and location, delivering targeted advertisements tailored to each user's preferences.

Our Role

Vodworks' role in the project was to enhance the data processing efficiency. True Digital had already established a system utilising GCP and MemCache for processing and tracking customer location data. However, the processing time exceeded 15 hours, hindering the timely availability of data crucial for tracking the spread of COVID-19.Vodworks optimised the data processing by reconfiguring the architecture, leveraging BigQuery, GCS, and Kafka to significantly reduce processing time to less than 10 minutes.

Results

Through Vodworks' intervention, the processing time for location data of over 30 million True customers was reduced from over 15 hours to less than 10 minutes. This dramatic improvement enabled True Digital to provide near real-time movement data for approximately one-third of the Thai population.

Challenge

The main challenge our team faced was the short turnaround time required for each feature due to the 8-week timeframe for the entire project. DHS Arabia urgently needed the platform to go live within this limited window. Vodworks developers worked in rapid development cycles, with each feature needing to be conceived, developed, and released in a matter of 1-2 weeks.

Our Role

Vodworks backend engineers were responsible for architecting a system capable of processing payments and updating databases in real-time. Meanwhile, our frontend engineers worked to design a user-friendly interface that ensured smooth navigation and accessibility for all users. Under the guidance of a dedicated project manager, the team was able to meet the client’s deadlines.Our quality assurance engineers conducted testing to identify and fix any bugs or issues, ensuring a flawless end product despite the time limitations. Not only did our team meet the client's requirements, but we also managed to incorporate additional features to enhance the platform's functionality.

This empowers our clients to curate and present their content in a manner that perfectly aligns with their unique vision and objectives, setting a new standard for user engagement and satisfaction.
