The term "minimalism" has grown in popularity in recent years.  “Minimalism” has caused a massive change in the way we browse the web. Could you please tell our readers what Minimalism means in web designing and what benefits it brings?

If you ask me, minimalism means easy to navigate and free of distractions. It increases the speed at which the site loads and the users' ability to quickly understand what the company is selling.

Quotation 1

We've discussed why minimalism, the art of less, is beneficial to your website, but what factors to consider before embarking on a web design project to implement minimalism in your design successfully?

As a business, you need to be crystal clear on your message.  A minimalist design doesn't give you enough opportunity to use a lot of marketing fluff in your copy. You must create robust and meaningful blog content to negate all impacts of negative SEO practices in a minimalist design. A blog helps you dive deeper into the core elements of all those topics that you normally might wish to highlight and explore more on the website key pages.

Quotation 2

So, can you define what constitutes a minimalist design in practice, such as the characteristics or specific design elements that must be present?

Jessica Hennessey highlights a few critical characteristics or specific minimalistic design elements. These include

  • Using lots of white space
  • Excellent use of fonts
  • Intelligently using the images that help to make a website more conversational

What interactive elements should be used to strike a balance between engagement and distraction?

For me, the most common element is obviously the content expansion or swapping based on user clicks.  Using this, you can present a lot of content in a smaller space. Since the user drives the interactivity, the content can be consumed at the speed and order that the user wants.

There is also a new term, "Brutalism," or brutalist web design, which is also taking over the internet, with one of the world's most popular social platforms, Instagram, also designed in the brutalism style. So, could you please share your thoughts on Brutalist design and its characteristics with the Minimalist approach?

Brutalism is minimalism without design. Brutalist designs are known for their ease of use and simplicity at the front, the same as the minimalistic design approach. But brutalism lacks aestheticism.

Every website design and development project has several steps. Please share some insights into how 3 Media Web developed a holistic web design process to produce exceptional websites.

When it comes to developing a holistic web design process to design exceptional websites, you can focus on the following crucial insights that include-

  1. The best projects provide sufficient time for web developers to look critically at what has/hasn't worked in the past.
  2. Developers must understand the role of the website and its significant contribution to the company’s success. They also need to keep an eye on competitors’ activities.
  3. They must follow a process of analysis, design, development, QA, launch, and support.

Quotation 5

So far, we've learned everything we can about minimalism, the effective and efficient web design process, and best practices. Moving on to the most important aspect of our discussion, the dos, and don'ts of the minimalist web design process, what are some of the difficulties you encounter when implementing the minimalist web design style?

  • It is related to an entire branding strategy. It does not make sense to create a marketing strategy isolated from others. Instead, if you focus on selecting the best minimalist web design, you must commit it company-wide - be it your messaging, product UX, literature, etc.
  • But if it isn't company-wide, there may be a feeling of disjoining, ultimately leading to confusion among the end-users.
  • Another critical challenge that may pop up is the need for more buy-in from all website stakeholders. Everyone seems interested in a minimalist design, but the real issue is when they need to explain a crucial feature in mere 200 words using a single screenshot. Getting internal buy-in to this approach needs to be company-wide.

Quotation 6

You must have worked on a number of projects in which you employed the minimalist web design style. Could you maybe share a few of your projects with our readers and listeners to inspire others?

The best website we have designed, depicting all the vital components of minimalist design, is NXTThing RPO. The website has all the qualities that make it visually stunning, such as selecting the correct font size and layout. All these elements make it easy for users to search for anything quickly.

Also, most websites witness a drop in their organic rankings during the first few months of their launch. But contrary to this, the website's organic results tripled within two months.  It was an incredible success.

Lastly, I'd like to know how your organization has flourished since the pandemic hit in 2020; what important modifications did you make to ensure 3 Media Web continues to serve the finest web design projects?

We actually didn't skip a beat with the pandemic. It is because fifty percent of our workforce was already working remotely, and we had the experience of how to work in that environment. Hence, going fully remote didn’t bring any significant change.

We put a lot more effort into ensuring that the team was seamlessly connected and had time away from work activities to know each other better. Our emphasis was on improving communication skills. We are a very personable agency that cares a lot about our clients and employees, and I think this policy helped during this time.

Lastly, our ability to pivotally address critical client needs as they changed was integral to our success. We do a lot of work in the biotech industry, which needs an extremely nimble partner. We also worked on enhancing relationships with our industry partners and clients by keeping them informed about what we were doing.

Quotation 7

Lastly, we would like to know how your experience with GoodFirms has been integral to your organization's growth.

GoodFirms is one of the simplest platforms to use, and the software listing agency is also amongst the top three referral sources that help us drive more traffic to our website. GoodFirms also ranks fourth on referral sites for conversations. From what I have seen is that it helps to improve website traffic more consistently in comparison to some of the other directory listings.
