Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
I’m a co-founder and CEO at Ardas - a SaaS centric development, support and go-to-market shop for more than 15 years.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
Four developers joined forces to work on a few enterprise data analysis software and outsourcing projects. After a number of successes, Ardas was established in 2005 with a focus on database design, data analysis and processing solutions, business process optimization.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
We are more than 190 in house engineers now and we plan to have 35% growth this year. In addition, we are expecting to launch two more startups with our UK partners this year.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
We are not a body shop. Our principle of cooperation is different - we create fully dedicated teams for each project, we aim to bring customer ideas in the best possible way, that is why we provide business consulting service to define what will work in the project. We design data and the entire infrastructure to optimally meet the needs of a real situation without unnecessary bells and whistles.

Despite the fact that sometimes our dear customers bring ready-made mockups, which definitely simplify our work, we still prepare our own detailed workflow plan including all the nuances of behavior and make it convenient for users.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive?
Ardas mainly focus on Fintech, Healthcare and Logistic medium and large-sized enterprises, but ready to help promising projects of any size.
We value the stability and long-lasting working relationships, which is why the team of experts within our company is constantly growing, which enables us to give our full attention to each client.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing software.
Certainly, first of all, we evaluate the business priorities, budget and needs of the product for assessing the development time. 
It takes us 2 weeks to perform a functional and technical analysis, based on this we can guarantee the implementation of tasks in a strictly limited time. We are very attentive to this reputational aspect.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of software?
It fully depends on the complexity of each project. The main thing is what we want to achieve, right?
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right framework for developing software?
In the first place we need to set business goals and how could we archive them better with our solution. Choosing a framework depends on many factors. But we can highlight main from them such as usage context, license, maintainability, documentation, and community.
Which languages & frameworks do you prefer to use in the development of software?
Based on many years of experience in developing the most diverse projects and tasks, our team came to the conclusion that the following technologies will be most appropriate for our customers: Java 5-10, .NET Framework, PHP 5-7, JavaScript, and all the kinds of mobile technologies.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of the software?
To provide a ballpark time & cost estimation along with expected project release date our team reviews business processes and understand business needs, brainstorms with stakeholders, studies documentation, conducts contextual research and works on the initial feature list as the first step.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions, etc.)
Our project team conducts a series of interviews to determine the priority tasks of the project and the best ways to implement them. After that, we offer one of the ways of cooperation: a fixed payment for the implementation of the task, an hourly payment for a specialist, or the monthly rental cost of a dedicated team.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
Our specialists can start from our special fixed-price offer - Product Design Phase, whose goal is to define a project feature list and estimate the development effort. The cost starts from $5,000 and lasts 3-5 weeks.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2019?
The least invasive changes in the project cost one of our clients $10,000, and the maintenance of a huge logistic system - more than $500,000.

This project was a continuation of our other brainchild. Our customers with a huge experience in the transportation domain found a serious gap in the industry - a lack of a communication tool for courier service providers and their customers. A lot of inefficient business communication is happening between professionals and freight customers.

Business challenge:

Originally this tool was planned to be a part of another customer's logistics SaaS system. We focused on designing and architecting the main features of this communication tool to test them on its real customers so we had quite a big list of existing early adopters. After polishing this solution and gaining positive feedback from its clients, we redesigned this tool into a SaaS platform with a subscription model and set up an additional business for our customers.

Supporting this logistics SaaS solution in the long-term phase was a serious challenge because it went through several transformations and pivots. The stabilization phase took around 6-8 months to find the best market fit and polish the monetization model. During that time our technical team varied to always stay cost-effective and provide the development speed according to the business requirements.

Making over £190M worth of contracts per year. It serves the full flow from posting the load to its final delivery helping transportation companies and individuals to do their work with ease.

Business challenge:

This courier SaaS product was created in the early 2000s and after successfully passing the post-MVP phase and getting good traction, they had to grow an IT department which was difficult and expensive in the UK. We met them at the beginning of active growth, all their software required refactoring and modernization. We developed a transformation plan and run a small pilot project to show how we can help and solve the problems they had. That was the beginning of long and profitable cooperation.

Key features:

  • Vehicles tracking and navigation. The map shows current loads with destinations and available transport with movement direction.
  • Fleet real-time management. Courier companies can add their drivers and vehicles. Couriers can filter loads by many parameters such as vehicle type, region/area, etc., expose their availability, look for the closest loads, apply for a job by sending a quote, communicate with customers using an external communication tool.
  • Customer perspective. Customers can post jobs, add descriptions to jobs, get an immediate notification when a courier applies for a job, review all applicants.
  • White label & customer service. Customer management, chats, and other support features are available for parent company and white label firms.
  • Administration panel. It allows controlling courier companies and customers, loads, payments, and all other data flow.

Business outcome:

The application for the SaaS allows managing the loads from managers' and dispatchers' points of view. It also includes a live availability map that shows the fleet capacity in real-time and an instant messenger with specific B2B features.

Our client: The complete system for an FX broker that handles all financial relations between a broker and its IBs organized in a multilevel hierarchy. Over 10 years on the market, presented in 12 countries, supporting over 15 languages, using more than 200 trade instruments of different kinds. It is a heavily loaded big data system that gives complete control and management over broker IBs and traders.

Business challenge: A well-established FX broker came to us asking to create a system to handle all its IBs, give them an infrastructure to manage their traders and business, automate all calculations of commissions earned by them. A broker was supposed to be able to manage IBs, configure all their settings and features, monitor the business on a higher level, and on a level of every separate IB.

Key features:

  1. IB Portal - internet brokers can control their customers and manage their requests, review their own balance, monitor the activity of customers, request withdrawals, and add other IBs into their multi-level hierarchy.

After successfully transforming this SaaS solution into an automated system we entered long-term support and evolution cycle and still update and tune this system according to customer requirements.
