Information Technology

As b.telligent’s partner, we complement its tech team with front-end design and creative direction for some astounding internal innovations. The project that’s been keeping Berlin Bytes busy since we started our partnership with b.telligent is the complete redesign and implementation of their internal TimeTrackingTool’s front-end.

Berlin Bytes started by developing a rounded understanding of the project’s codebase, from its legacy project through to its current iteration.

Our next step was to start enhancing the software’s user experience. Improving some of its user interface features called for a critical look at the tool’s key components. When it comes to interacting with some of the app’s states, we spotted a few opportunities too.

Then, the next step was to account for a given individual feature’s unique makeup, like a single travel entry's expenses or an individual time-tracking entry, for example.

Saying that it’s a massive overhaul on a mammoth project isn’t an overstatement. But our long-standing relationship, started in 2019, has given us the chance to develop, design, implement and improve the tech that drives some of Europe’s smartest BI consultants.

E-commerce

As a 360 collaborator, Berlin Bytes has provided end-to-end support for Aeyde's data driven e-commerce development project over more than the past three years. Our partnership model enables us to help Aeyde understand their business challenges, from sales to accounting to customer support. Then we help tackle them through research, digital product ideation and design implementation.

This time, Berlin Bytes' strategic partnership with Aeyde called for deep, cross-department cooperation. Proximity to this client’s business helped us identify those pesky key challenges and blockers that an international luxury footwear might encounter. Once we’d located Aeyde’s primary digital business blockers, we got to tackle and solve them through site design, logistics and business support, from sales and customer support to B2B and B2C flows. And, of course, we do it all from a tried-and-tested data-oriented approach.

Aeyde turned to Berlin Bytes for a deeper level of business support that combines strategic website design with ERP management.

The task of bringing Aeyde’s recent rebrand to bear on its digital pillar was a vital objective for the international footwear brand. Its new logo - a bold, clean-lined serif that spells ‘Aeyde’ honours its German roots in both typeface and etymology. To tie off the absolute singularness of the Aeyde brand, the e-tailer developed an entirely new typeface that Berlin Bytes implemented very specifically in three desktop and two mobile font sizes across the site.

Regarding Aeyde.com’s front-end, Berlin Bytes was tasked with redesigning and developing Shopify e-commerce website templates, along with additional customised features that aren’t available in the Shopify App Store.

First, our design department worked closely with Aeyde’s PO team to not only identify their new site’s objectives, but to explore its potential blockers and challenges in reaching those goals, as well. What Berlin Bytes delivered was a site design that powerfully showcases the Aeyde brand and that supports its visitors with an optimised user journey, too. On the front-end front, quick innovation enabled our development team to easily push changes and updates to the brand’s multi-regional website content on Shopify.

Running parallel to our design deliverables, Berlin Bytes supported the international luxury footwear e-tailer from logistics to sales and from merch to finance. We enabled Aeyde’s different teams to operate at their full potential by implementing and optimising the business’ ERP system, NetSuite. With an ERP foundation that flawlessly compiles data from the multiple entities and external tools that the business relies on in both its off and online processes, Aeyde’s digital future quickly became clear.

We delivered a fully functional, rebrand-sensitive and UX/UI-focused site celebrated in Aeyde’s big brand launch at the Berlin’s Kino International cinema with its short film titled ‘Motus’ on March 17th ‘22. This digital innovation delivered by Berlin Bytes is aligned with Shopify’s requirements and boasts content easily editable and manageable by Aeyde’s digital teams. For its users, an easy-to-navigate interface seamlessly updates pages and showcases the brand’s signature collections in a UI/UX-optimised user experience. The site’s new navigation gives users a clear overview of everything it has to offer through simple design focussed on taking visitors from point to point in the buyer process. Reconciling a familiar user journey with the brand’s new visual style was a challenge that our design team solved with competitor research and by applying UX best practices. Our final digital product represents the perfect middle ground between end-to-end data integration and a faultless buying experience for the site’s users that echoes and respects Aeyde’s new brand identity.

With a successful product launch, Berlin Bytes’ is more engaged than ever, delivering enterprise resource management that ensures the business’ internal processes work as intended along with ongoing technical support. Today, Berlin Bytes is partnered with the Italian luxury footwear pioneer to continuously design and develop its evolving business product, from strategy to implementation in an end-to-end capacity.

As its technology partner, we own the online store’s operations, leading development by ensuring ideal end-users are reached through testing and that the site chimes with the times through change management. We are fully integrated in the fulfilment process, driving the project’s management of online products, while supporting the offline brand and business.

Berlin Bytes helped redesign and implement a UX/UI-optimised, multi-regional e-commerce site with a front-end that reflects Aeyde’s top quality products. As the brand’s tech partner, we go beyond tech support and site maintenance with hands-on ERP management to optimise the business’ entire B2B and B2C data process journey from production to delivery.

Real Estate

Konkretly is Germany’s first fully digital real estate appraisal app, giving the country’s residents full, accredited support when it comes to picking the right property to invest in. With seamlessly digital expert bookings, users can request that a real estate professional appraise and report on the condition, cost and pitfalls of that dream home of theirs within 72 hours. To reach German citizens with this service, however, Konkretly needed a fully-functioning, conversion-optimised site to match!

The client's request for this project was simple: bring us to market. What they didn't have was a skilled digital partner to help align and hone these assets, integrating them into a digital ecosystem that converts. Previous marketing efforts had also revealed challenges with product education within their perceived key market, as this innovation within the business-to-consumer property landscape had little precedent in Germany.

With access to this wealth of digital assets, we fully assumed our partner visage to get a solid sense of the state of the product’s tech health and market position. With some initial high-level consulting, we quickly realised that the biggest missing ingredient to the Konkretly cake was a cohesive digital strategy.

We quickly reverted with a three-pronged digital strategy to bring Konkretly to those new German home buyers seeking quick, seamless and digital decision-making support. The plan?

  1. First, optimise the site.
  2. Second, root its experience in relevant user research sensitive to its market position.
  3. And third, reach and convert these audiences with a cohesive, cross-channel, integrated digital narrative.

From doing a site redesigns to digital marketing, we always kick off our projects with in-depth user research. For this project, we earmarked three potential audiences within the German B2C landscape who might be interested in a disruptive digital appraisal product: established home buyers, house flippers and young, first-time buyers or renters. From here, we constructed detailed audience personas revealing exactly who the individuals behind their profile pictures could be.

This exercise is our first step in constructing sound user journeys that build trust through punchy content and easy-to-understand product descriptions. To polish off their digital product, we re-approached the brand message, revisiting both the Konkretly tone and its content. Changing their slogan to echo the product experience more emphatically without losing any of its brand-building power was another key content challenge.

With a foundation of in-depth user research, we created sound initial messaging and targeting strategies to help the app enter the market. Along with our initial hypotheses, we compiled an integrated digital marketing strategy, outlining and unpacking our approach to channels, paid media and creative content, tailored to reach and resonate with key audiences.

Exploring broad customer groupings with a limited paid media budget represented our biggest challenge for this project’s digital marketing component. But, we understand that the smaller the budget, the more detailed the plan simply has to be! Once we were comfortable with a strategic digital marketing approach, we activated our first Google Search and Meta ads conversion campaigns to begin generating valuable user data both for optimising the site and our ad campaigns.

With our redesign, the site’s ability to keep audiences engaged tripled, climbing to 30% of its visitors reaching the bottom of the home page and clicking off to its other content avenues. Our content efforts also saw the site’s users' Time on Page rise from an average of thirty seconds consuming its content to them sticking around for 2 minutes, instead.

On the flip side, our digital marketing campaigns identified powerful site optimisation opportunities through initial ad spend strategically deployed to generate user activity and behavioural data for the site. To unearth these findings, we sent valuable traffic from Konkretly’s key audiences to their online conversion machine's home page, in conjunction with pure conversion campaigns geared toward generating ROI. As their digital partner, we were perfectly positioned to understand the product and action support plans around any new findings coming to light with agility.

Berlin Bytes' partnership posture also levelled up to supporting the product’s pivoting within the German market. By providing an in-depth competitive analysis conducted by our skilled team of business development consultants, we identified key digital blockers on the product’s road to adoption. Equipped with insights into how their product is being consumed, Konkretly completely revisited their relationship toward and role within the market, pursing powerful partnership opportunities to help get their product traction in a B2B, as well as a B2C sense!

GotBag, a sustainable e-com brand selling bags made of ocean plastic, partnered with Berlin Bytes in 2019 to update and maintain its online store. Since then, we’ve offered custom deployment script creation to automate updates, as well as page speed optimisation and website design drafts and implementation. We also deliver front-end and back-end development and IT consulting to support the site.

GotBag is always looking for new features to build into its core e-commerce assets and Berlin Bytes uses Liquid to do it. When it comes to the particularly clever campaigns our changemaker partners want to run, we deliver additional front-end functionality that ensures our client and their customers get that bag. Integrating version management tech closely with Shopify's systems keeps GotBag’s brand booming with regular thematic changes across its e-commerce assets - all for the price of one. CloudSketch is a Berlin Bytes in-house SaaS development project, designed to smooth over the tumultuous life of a cloud architect that juggles multiple cloud-based applications. The product visualises and supports cloud architecture from authentication, billing and user management to infrastructure diagrams, making internal collaboration easy and accessible.

One of the core challenges any cloud architect contends with is bridging this gap between tech and non-tech, facilitating more cross-discipline communication. By making it a breeze to keep track of all layers of abstraction required to address all relevant audiences, CloudSketch aids architects in being inclusive in their communication.

Be it Internet-of-Things, Business Intelligence, Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence - wherever the cloud is adopted, CloudSketch helps break down exactly how users engage with digital assets and empowers smart and sustainable cloud adoption for organisations. By facilitating communication between technical and less technical roles it ties together everyone involved in the design and development process.

Berlin Bytes built and iterated food devlivery app, Grovy.

We began with a comprehensive, in-depth competitive analysis. Then we identified and consolidated Grovy’s unique user experience and established its market position. The next step was to map out the mobile user journey with flow planning as well as to establish a branding board and a design system to inform the look and feel of this design-intensive project.

The next priority was to turn the Grovy app concept into a feasible item in its prototyping phase. With the product taking shape, developers and designers iterated on its different components.

Overall, we delivered user research, wireframing, prototyping and UI design to help Grovy differentiate their brand and its unique contribution to the way local consumers eat and shop. Our design is consumer-sensitive and informed by competitive analyses to ensure it offers something different.

Karma, a crowdfunding platform that mobilises local users to improve their communities, asked Berlin Bytes for marketing and comprehensive product design, as well as development and brand consulting.

Once our technical planning phase for the product was completed, we created a UI kit and started working on striking designs for multiple desktop pages and doubled up on reconstructing them all for mobile. Building and sharing the desktop and mobile designs internally and externally were simplified by using Figma, which allowed for real-time collaboration between Berlin Bytes and the client.

We supported the platform as an in-house, non-profit design project. Aside from IT and brand consultation services, we delivered graphic and logo design, as well as web design services to help realise its creative vision.

Deinguterruf.de is a local reputation management platform that helps keep digital business and personal brand images in tact through turbulent PR crises. Working with search engines to manage online content, however, is a lengthy process that demands multiple touch points between the client, the Dein Guter Ruf platform and the relevant search engine promoting the content in question. To increase visibility for both internal and external ticket statuses, Dein Guter Ruf needed a fully digitalised process that reins in the complexities of their business into one single digital space for themselves and for their customers.

Increasing Dein Guter Ruf's customer engagement through one, centralised digital space would meaningfully streamline the brand's operations, but the business' site needed a big overhaul to rise to the occasion. A space for more customer contact, as well as more ticket transparency demanded a technical partner able to ideate and execute custom digital solutions. So, how did the business establish this transparent, digital status management solution for its ongoing client tickets?

Utilising its foundation as a flexible technical partner to its fullest, Berlin Bytes picked up and kicked off this design and development project with an agile methodology in close contact with the client. Through in-depth workshops, our teams got a sound sense of Dein Guter Ruf's business processes before tackling its blockers with a digital solution.

Ideating and designing the custom portal as Dein Guter Ruf's central hub for their open accounts demanded plenty of fluid back and forth communication with the client. With flexibility as our foundation, we planned the task of refining the site and creating its customer portal under a standard project cycle. During its design phase, we delivered UX research and wireframing explored closely with the client over regular touch points. Here, we overhauled the brand's CI with new visual elements along with a new take on its logo, too. Once we'd landed on a solid design prototype, our technical team brought it to life through custom development. A custom coded plugin handled all APIs for the Wordpress site, which connected with the customer platform, built with a Vue.js frontend. Once our digital product was delivered, we started the whole process over again to deliver landing pages that would serve as regional marketing resources for the brand, too!

The result? Dein Guter Ruf's new website seamlessly guides visitors toward its digital customer portal that provides increased internal and external visibility on ticket statuses. With all the business' operations in one, single digital space, transparency helps both and its clients keep track of where their accounts are along the fulfilment process. Today, this client serves its clients more effectively and efficiently than ever with new, fully digital processes.

From the outset of our partnership with Aeyde in 2019, we have delivered business, design and development support from creative and strategic brand development to designing and developing its primary Shopify theme, as well as additional back-end features.

Aeyde tasked Berlin Bytes to redesign and develop their Shopify e-commerce website template, along with a few additional customised features that aren’t available in the Shopify App Store. We fine-tuned the user experience for Aeyde's online customers and delivered a digital asset that the company’s internal content editors could easily own and operate.

As its technology partner, we own the online store’s operations, leading development by ensuring ideal end-users are reached through testing and ensuring it chimes with the times through change management. We are fully integrated in the fulfilment process, driving the project’s management of online products, while supporting the offline brand and business.

We deliver enterprise resource management that ensures the business’ internal processes work as intended. Our e-commerce and IT consultation inform Aeyde’s overall decision-making with pertinent data and analytics and identify opportunities for the offline brand, as well as its online component.

We discover opportunities and design, develop and deploy tech to answer them, basing everything we do on the numbers and the audiences behind them. We also keep a finger on the pulse of the brand, the business and its ever-evolving product to keep its future unique and colourful.
