E-commerce

The Challenge

Multiple brands, thousands of products, various fulfilment options, and delivery to over 17 countries… When an online business grows as rapidly as Artgeist does, and new digital solutions are called for, the efficiency of the IT Architecture is on a knife-edge.

To keep up with evolving business needs, Artgeist decided to develop a new internal system for managing products, order fulfilment, and returns. Another ongoing project is improving the customer experience by adding new functionalities across the e-commerce stores.

An important factor for Artgeist’s IT team is the limited in-house resources. That’s why they were looking for a long-term partner who would provide a knowledgeable team of developers.

The Process

4soft’s developers are merged into Artgeist’s internal IT team. Our specialists focus solely on the development of the application designed to manage internal processes: the warehouse, production line, order fulfilment, and returns. Our developers’ scope of work includes maintenance and implementation of new features.

Ongoing work also regards the legacy code. The company plans to get rid of it and rely solely on new software by 2024.

Collaborating in the Scrum methodology, the developers work in Sprints. The project is managed by an in-house Product Owner and Scrum Master.

The Results

The outcome of 4soft’s and Artgeist’s collaboration is a seamless IT team extension and, therefore, its better performance. The development velocity is of great significance, as the internal management application is one of our key projects at the moment, and some of our business KPIs are tied to the proper implementation of the platform.

CDA Polska is an award-winning chilled glass installation provider that has served business clients in the construction industry for the past 20 years. No two projects are the same at CDA Polska. Each construction requires the high personal involvement of CDA’s design experts, from glass doors to elevator installations. As a result, the design process can become a bottleneck for the entire business.

To address this issue, the company decided to create a custom application that would simplify and automate the designer's workflow.

The Solution

We started by carrying out a workshop with CDA Polska to learn how they used the program and the main pain points. Together, we defined a list of features for the new application. Next, our CTO audited the old software’s architecture and designed a new one. Our product designer worked with the client and the CTO to create a clean UX and UI.

The application’s backend is written using Java’s Spring framework and Python - we implemented these two technologies due to the diversity of services within the project. The Java services fulfil the business needs and external system integrations, while Python handles the data processing and mathematical algorithms within the glass installation design process. The application’s frontend was built with React. For hosting, we used AWS cloud solutions.

Results

CDA Polska contractors use the new software to configure glass hardware and quickly create customer quotes. By entering the glass size, selected components, hardware, and other key information, they can generate a ready-made cost estimate from the price list assigned to a given customer.

Colony is a brand new community-driven ecosystem accelerator that aims to build a properly incentivized foundation for the next generation of applications built on Avalanche - an open, programmable smart contracts platform for decentralized applications. To that end, Colony will implement a DAO structure over time to decentralize itself.

As the first project of its kind within the crypto space, Colony relies on the revolutionary approach of Ecosystem Farming, providing maximal benefits for both the startups and investors thanks to various services.

While Colony has a great vision for the future, the top priority for our collaboration was the project's successful launch. To deliver it, we had to ensure satisfactory time-to-market while creating flexible, future-proof solutions for Colony.

Collaboration

We began our collaboration with workshops to better set the client's expectations and understand their needs. After developing the platform's architecture, it was time for the actual development. Our tech stack is heavily based on Solidity: the platform runs on the C-Chain Avalanche blockchain based on Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). For testing and deployment purposes, we use Node.js and TypeScript. The platform's frontend was developed using Node.js, TypeScript, and React.

The priority features before the launch were vesting, staking, and airdrop distribution. When developing Airodrops and Staking, we were inspired by Synthetix. The tokens were distributed in time proportionally to the amount of stake, which changes over time.

Results

Thanks to the broad experience of our experts in both the business and technical aspects of DeFi development, the 4soft team managed to keep up with all deadlines, and Colony launched the platform as expected. This turned out to be a full success and the highest raise on the Avalanche Ecosystem up to date. In total, Colony collected $21 million for further development.

Paribus is a cross-chain borrowing and lending protocol for NFTs, liquidity positions, and synthetic assets. One of its goals is to achieve maximum interoperability. That way, DeFi holders and investors could focus on value exchange instead of tech limitations. The project runs on Cardano smart contracts that remove restrictions and allow value to flow freely.

Developing the architecture and software addressing all these expectations requires years of experience in blockchain and DeFi, paired with insider know-how on decentralized business models. The Paribus executive team decided to partner up with 4soft for both consulting and development services.

Collaboration

Our collaboration started with the consulting phase, where we evaluated our client's business objectives and reviewed the list of planned features. The outcome was a budget estimate that let Paribus come up with the scope of its minimum viable product to be developed first.

Equipped with this information, we proceeded to design the platform's architecture that would first serve the MVP but was also ready for the post-MVP extension, including Paribus's PBX native token.

Simultaneously, our team built a staking app using the Proof of Stake (PoS) algorithm for validating transactions within a given blockchain network. Next, we moved on to create the MVP. It had to include the basic, crucial processes for any lending business: borrowing and repayment flows, interest models, and liquidation

The Results

Thanks to our consulting services, Paribus gained a broader perspective when choosing the features to be part of the MVP version. This allowed our team to design the architecture in alignment with the critical business requirements.

The staking app was launched and users are already collecting rewards for their participation. At the moment, we are testing the MVP demo and awaiting Cardano's smart contracts launch. We will keep this page updated as the project progresses.

The Challenge

Elliptic has entered a massive growth phase, having raised $60 million in October 2021. In addition, their product has gained traction so quickly that they quickly reached their capacity to ingest blockchain data already in the development stage. It was essential for the success of the product's first release to match the market's expectations, despite tight development schedules.

As a result, the company started to look for a long-term technology partner that would seamlessly merge with their in-house engineering team and ease the burden on the HR department. This was when Elliptic reached out to 4soft.

The Solution

4soft's team is responsible for uploading data from a diverse set of blockchains to Elliptic's internal data platform.  4soft is responsible for data quality and uses algorithms to verify data database and create algorithms that analyze its correctness and completeness.

We started this collaboration by extending Elliptic's team with two software engineers. Within six months, the team grew to 14 specialists from different domains and continues to grow and is bound to keep expanding.

Our partnership with Elliptic goes beyond is about the implementation stage to include as well as strategic consulting. Thanks to our 5+ years of experience with blockchain technologies, we provide Elliptic with know-how regarding both technology applications and crypto business cases.  4Soft also benefits from Elliptic’s deep history in blockchain analytics We regularly exchange knowledge, including face-to-face meetings in our client's HQ in London and our Wroclaw office.

The Results

Working in the team extension model, we help Elliptic meet release deadlines without compromising quality. We cover the hiring process and provide new developers in weeks instead of months. As a result of our consulting collaboration, we transfer years of blockchain know-how to Elliptic, positively impacting the tech stack and architecture.

The Client

TerGo is a company whose main goal is to support businesses, organizations and individuals by automating the calculation of the carbon footprint. Its products empower individuals with simple tools to take charge of their daily eco-actions in real-time.

TerGo develops tools that make calculating the carbon footprint simple and do not require the involvement of experts. The main products of TerGo are Tergoscope - carbon accounting software for companies, and TERbit - an application for individual and corporate users showing emission savings in real-time.

The Challenge

The company developed TERbit, the first mobile app in the world that enables real-time counting of carbon reductions, helping consumers to positively contribute to stopping global climate change!

TerGo was looking to build an application that tracks the user's movements in the background (on foot, by bike, car, car sharing, and public transport) and, on this basis, calculates how much CO2 a given user has saved compared to the average emissions for the inhabitants of a given country.

Tracking the user's location and activity in the background was the biggest challenge since Android and iOS are very restrictive here.

The Process

The first stage of the work is about to finish. The process began with the preparation of designs. Next, our team implemented the mobile application screens and business logic.

The Results

The application contains standard screens characteristic of an application that collects and displays data. Currently, it is possible to track the user's activity during their activity (walking and transportation by bike, car, shared ride, creating a joint session, joining a session).

The application is a tool for people who want to see their impact on reducing climate change. Organizations can use it to reward their employees for choosing a greener mode of transport on their way to work. The application offers customization options to companies.

Development of frontend application managing the Joystream DAO community workflows.

Headquartered in Oslo, Norway, Jsgenesis is the company behind Joystream - a video streaming platform in development until it achieves the state of autonomous governance. The company was established in 2018 and has since set out to build a truly decentralized and self-governing platform.

The Challenge

Jsgenesis needed support in developing the frontend part of the governance product.

The Process

The most challenging part of the project was the handover of a large and complex codebase of the feature-rich governance app connected with runtime nodes and query nodes that index blockchain data. Our team was set to handle that.

Our team helped Jsgenesis deliver the initial release of the v2 governance platform and iterated it forward, building new modules and enhancing the existing functionality.

The entire workflow went smoothly as our specialists were flexible in adopting the agile process that worked for the company. They actively participated in process-related retrospectives aimed at fine-tuning the delivery.

Results

Our team helped deliver a functional application that the community and the client are very satisfied with. The modules and functionalities we worked on received positive feedback from the community.

The Client

Gigaset is Europe’s top manufacturer of landline phones and intelligent home solutions. Top-quality hardware has to go in pair with reliable software – Gigaset is currently building a new web application that allows managing the devices from one place. They reached out to 4soft during the project to ensure its timely delivery.

Our client had already decided on the architecture, feature list, and tech stack. The missing piece was a boost of front-end developers who would quickly catch up and help reduce the time to market.

The Process

As the client contacted us, it was clear that time was tight. Thanks to precise requirements, we cut the business development discussion to the minimum and got straight to the technical examination of our developers. The feedback was positive, so we stepped into the project right away.

The web application is built with JavaScript and Angular 10. It communicates with landline phones and smart solutions through integrations with their back-end systems. This connection is made upon REST APIs and Websockets and tested with a custom-built simulator. Some of these smart devices are door and window sensors, smoke and water detectors, an alarm buzzer.

As the app connects with these devices, it allows their remote management. Some of the primary machines are landline phones. The app offers remote WiFi configuration, Bluetooth configuration, call diverting, and contacts management.

4soft’s developers merged into a team of 20 specialists. The project is managed in an agile methodology, which includes working with a Project Manager, Scrum Master, Product Owner, and Tech Lead on Gigaset’s side.

The Results

The described project is now a top priority for our client’s management team. Our mid- and senior-level developers implement features within the agreed timeline, taking away a part of the burden of the client’s internal IT team. The release of the application is planned for Q1 2022.

Review Summary

Our collaboration with 4soft was remarkable for its efficiency and high productivity. Their team was tasked with creating the core flow of our system, which comprised creating agreements and rules within those agreements. The system's complexity was tremendous, having two types of agreements and 50 types of rules that can be configured in a myriad of ways. Yet, 4soft managed to build a library of reusable components that effectively simplifies the system's complexity, making it easier for users to expand by assembling it from ready-made bricks.
