Qusion did excellent work on Bitstock. The project was a great success. They not only deliver innovative web and mobile applications but also are very committed to deep understand the needs of their clients. Our collaboration started a year ago and we're currently working on a new app scheduled to launch Q1 next year.

Cooperation with Qusion team was great. They proactively offered their services which I appreciated a lot. That time we had quite an old fashion non-responsive company webpage. They were creative but not over-push us to the direction where we did not want to go. They were fast, reliable. They keeped all their promises. They have very capable the whole team.

We chose Qusion for their modern approach to mobile app solutions and they totally fullfiled our expectations. The team we cooperate with was very experienced, cooperative and innovative. As a result, we were able to develop modern mobile app that respects all actual trends, is nice and user friendly. Beside mobile app development we cooperated with Qusion designers also on the design of desktop website of the project and the result was also absolutely perfect.

Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?

Qusion is a team of highly experienced engineers who design and develop successful software products. We provide end-to-end solutions for mobile apps, websites, and software infrastructure development. Qusion starts innovative apps & online business.

As the CEO and Co-founder of Qusion, my main responsibilities include
communication on behalf of the company and overall management of operations. I
am responsible for the long-term strategy of the company, which doesn’t only mean their setting but especially making sure they will be met. I am also responsible for our UX and UI teams.

Besides others, my agenda includes the hiring of new employees and continuous
evaluation of their work, sales, and business development.

What was the idea behind starting Qusion?

With my long-time friend and co-owner, Ondrej, we’ve always been huge fans of
innovations and technology. We knew that the European market is saturated with
digital studios, but they lack a close approach to their clients and high-quality
delivery. We started and exited our first startups during our high-school. Right after
our studies, we started Qusion; it was in February 2018.

From the beginning, our vision was to shape a Digital lab that could provide
premium services together with a high focus on client needs and their right solution delivery. Currently, we have over 20 people on board. We are building a top-notch team that is able to build new products in top quality - we work for clients but also building our own products. We are also planning to start our own VC to be ready to invest in the ideas in our team or interested startups.

What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?

We’ve got an only in-house team of developers, designers, business specialists,
marketers, and leaders who shape the best mix to provide end-to-end solutions. The mindset is to let everybody plan their day, work hours, and office as long as the best quality work is delivered, no exceptions there.

How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?

Giving our employees freedom tops the mood in the office. We see that creating a
culture that makes people believe in the idea and kind of fall in love with the projects they work on is the only path to quality delivery.

What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?

Our clients are very diverse, and the industries vary a lot. We don’t necessarily focus on one specific area because we believe that we can offer great services in different industries. Our recent projects crossed health-tech, banking, education, sports, and entertainment.

About 90% of customers stay with us and ask for further improvement or scaling. This is a direct result of our no-bullshit communication approach.

Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.

It is important to realize that before an idea is shaped, it will take around one month before you reach development. Proper research, sketching, testing, and prototyping has to be carried out in order to set a clear vision of what will be worked on.
We usually start with competitors' research, finding the right business model and
wireframes which cover basic functionality, then move to design and finally
development.

After the dev phase, the app has to be properly tested. Also, remember that the release itself takes around a week; therefore, I would allow a minimum of 2-3 months of work for a small-sized app.

How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?

Back-end acts as the brain of every working app. It processes and stores data. It is
crucial to put great effort into developing a stable and reliable environment, where
the front-end connects to. We aim to have at least 99% accessibility. This comes at a cost; therefore, back-end development is usually more difficult.

What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?

Looking at the current market cap difference between Android and iOS, we see that both platforms are leveled up. When catering to the EU market, we recommend our clients to go both ways not to disappoint any side. However, markets like India, where Android is extremely popular, it might not be worth working on an iOS app at all.

Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?

This is very difficult to determine. As mentioned before, we suggest building both
apps at the same time, and we do not recommend using React Native or other cross-platform compatible solutions.

Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?

Most users are accustomed to reliable and functioning apps that deliver a solution to their problems. Hybrid apps have a lot of shortcomings, and we have a lot of
customers who reach out to us asking to build native apps while disappointed going hybrid in the past. We definitely suggest going native every time. (Kotlin and Swift).

What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?

First, we determine whether it will be a static or dynamic app, i.e., whether it will
need backend support to process data. Are we creating design and development?
Sometimes we do just design or just development. We are happy if we can create a
complete product from the very beginning, turning ideas into real products,
deployment, and future updates. For Qusion, it is also really important for freedom
and the possibility to make creative and innovative solutions.

It's very important to know the client's budget; we can always prepare tailored to
client possibilities.

What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions, etc.)

We are working in 14 days of the agile sprint. Billing by MD rates.

Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?

We are starting working with clients with a budget of over 5 000 USD and go up
depending on what is needed.

What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2019?

Smallest projects started around 5 000K USD, the biggest over 100 000  USD +.
