The crew at TechMagic helped us weather some difficult unforeseen storms on our way to our initial deployment. They were fast, detail-oriented, and bent over backwards to make things right, whether the issue was theirs or ours. I couldn't ask for more in a development partner.

Great company to use for Nearshore development.

We have used Techmagic to develop our new SaaS product using AngularJS and Node.js. They have done a fantastic job, and continue to do so. Starting with a team of 2 we have grown the team to 16. We had planned to onshore the development once we had done the initial work but we have been sufficiently impressed with working with Techmagic that we have decided to use them for development for the long term

Their team was easily approachable, professional, and flexible.

The client is connected to the food industry, especially with the restaurant and cafe networks, providing them with different services from marketing, consulting and logistics. TechMagic was involved in only developing an iOS and Android app for the client along with a website to manage the customer loyalty programs of different restaurants. The project was completed within the timeline and budget decided.

The client is highly satisfied with TechMagic and enjoyed working with them because of their personal experience of being a startup themselves. The client also praised their technical expertise and professionalism and highly recommends them to their friends and colleagues.

Elements.cloud is a B2B SaaS platform that helps to visualize and organize business processes. It has a centralized interactive space for process mapping in the cloud that allows bringing a new level of operational excellence.

The web application uses Salesforce integrations and is fully GDPR compliant. Users can capture requirements, map processes, document Salesforce Organization, deliver user training, and provide governance.

What we've done:

  • We implemented a concept of highly customizable diagrams with robust version control, applied Redis software for locking certain parts of data, created different security groups for different application layers, and installed appropriate instance types for various services.

  • TechMagic executed a shift from EC2 instance to partial serverless architecture, using AWS Lambda.

Due to this transition, we made Elements solutions more cost-efficient with a lower need for infrastructure support.

Executive Interview of TechMagic

Oleg Dats
Oleg Dats
CEO
Visit Profile
Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company.
TechMagic was founded in 2014. The idea behind this start-up was to combine our experience in the mobile application development domain since we have been developers for 7 years. We had several friends who had their own start-ups. They could not prove to be very successful in the local market. I am the CEO and a developer myself. TechMagic was launched as a combination of developers and start-up founders’ experience, our main focus area is mobile application domain.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
It is very important to understand first what we are going to build. We always require detailed information from our clients about the application. Before the development, we suggest our clients defining a design and listing the assets to be developed.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile application?
Mainly it depends on the projects. For instance, there is a short term project of 1-2 months or marketplace wherein we need 4-5 months, whereas there might be projects that require a year or more of development. For such projects, we need to allocate a dedicated team of developers. Concluding, the type of project defines the time frame for the development of front end and back end parts.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors / outsourcing?
TechMagic has an in-house team of 60. We manage all projects internally. The reason for not outsourcing lays in hard-to-run management.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
TechMagic brand name says we are a technology-focused company. We try to adopt our knowledge and challenge more and more on highly technological and complex projects. We are start-ups oriented.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
It absolutely depends on the clients’ requirements. Though, most of the clients prefer to start with the iOS platform development. As of now, we have not had any single client, who wanted to start with Android.

We request the clients to understand the business needs before developing the application. Location matters as well. For instance, in the USA, Google and Apple keep their data open so it is easy to see the number of people using Android and iOS apps. We would like our clients to check the capacity of the market they target and make the best platform choice.
Out of all the projects that you delivered in last 1 year, how much % of clients agreed with going first with the platform suggested by you?
Most of our clients follow our recommendations to choose the platform.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
TechMagic prefers iOS, as Android platform demonstrates instability and unexpected behaviour at times.

We prefer working using native technologies that demonstrate a better usability compared to hybrid. It is a bit difficult to develop and support Android and iOS on different screens when you develop hybrid.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
Within key factors we consider the number of devices to be supported and the complexity of UI part.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
TechMagic provides flexibility. If the requirements are well predefined and clear, we can cooperate on Fixed Cost model. For long lasting projects, we compose a dedicated team and use Time & Materials model of cooperation.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement?
TechMagic develops projects worth no less than US$10000.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2015?
TechMagic works within the range of US$10000 to US$40000.
