Troy Web Consulting led a comprehensive frontend redesign of the My Essentials insurance management platform to support its evolution into a scalable, enterprise-level system. This will help transition the application to the Vue 3 framework and implement a unified design system to ensure a more cohesive and modern user experience. The redesign emphasizes flexibility and autonomy—replacing hard-coded logic with dynamic configurations that allow My Essentials administrators to manage plans and policies without ongoing developer support.

Iroquois Healthcare Association (IHA) is the premier voice of Upstate New York hospitals and health systems. IHA’s job search platform Caring Gene® connects job seekers with providers in the healthcare industry, helping workers find meaningful jobs and providers find skilled candidates. Looking for help with website maintenance and hosting suggestions, IHA sought a technology partner to support Caring Gene® and take it to the next stage of its evolution.

Recognizing the need to maintain and further improve their job search platform, IHA partnered with Troy Web Consulting to support Caring Gene®. Troy Web has well-recognized experience in maintaining, building, and scaling healthcare applications following strict HIPAA compliance laws along with the knowledge of database development.

In the planning stages of the project, Troy Web listened to IHA’s goals for the improvement of the platform. IHA had an idea to expand Caring Gene®’s job search experience with an improved search filter. This new visual filter would offer an improved user experience (UX) for job seekers in the form of an interactive map of New York state searchable by county.

To help IHA realize the next evolution of Caring Gene®, Troy Web conducted a software assessment phase, setting up a custom agile development plan. New features including the interactive job search map, search filters, and frontend improvements were implemented according to IHA’s vision and goals. These new features together with the initial website maintenance services have provided a foundation to support the next step in the growth of Caring Gene®.

How we helped

With extensive experience in the education space and a history of partnering with early-stage startups, Troy Web offered both the technical proficiency and collaborative spirit needed to successfully co-create an SaaS platform from the ground up.

First, Troy Web implemented a business analysis phase to better understand school district needs and intended business outcomes. Next, the team got to work on wireframing and mapping user flows. Lastly, the team built the first iteration of the industry standard PHP Laravel system, working closely with StudentEI to align the system’s functionalities with the company’s strategic vision.

Troy Web’s iterative, value-based development process encouraged targeted refinement of the system’s capabilities and user experience. This phased approach, which involved continuous feedback assessments from StudentEI and their industry partners, maximized the system’s value and increased its marketplace viability.

The results

StudentEI’s vision to help district leaders ensure that their students are relevant and prepared is now becoming a reality. The company provides school districts with science and evidenced-based assessments that quantitatively measures students’ individual and collective everyday skills. These data insights are then translated into a skills summary report, which provides teachers and administrators with a better understanding of where students are likely to excel or potentially hit a roadblock.

The Challenge

Building the solution

Building HIPAA compliant software that is secure, scalable and reliable is no small task. Using our full stack development process, the Troy Web team developed an application that is capable of providing critical information about a patient’s implanted device to both patient and physician. Supporting features include a calendar for patients to view their status during treatments, a database to keep contact information up to date as well as Q & A information to alleviate concerns for both patients and families.

The objectives of this project were to develop a set of HIPAA-compliant mobile apps and web-based applications that allows hospital staff to monitor their most at-risk patients and provide a simple, manageable tool that is easy for both patients and staff.
