Please introduce your company and give a brief about your role within the company?
Tyrannosaurus Tech acts as a technology partner for companies looking to launch new and innovative web and mobile applications. Our team provides both strategic expertise and the technical skills needed to bring new SaaS products to market successfully. That means not only do we work with you to design and develop a great product, but we lend valuable expertise on various topics that are crucial to your product’s long term success, such as SaaS pricing models and strategies for scaling your technology and staff as product adoption grows.

As CEO, I wear a lot of hats day by day but spend most of my time focused on new business development, hiring, and account management.
What was the idea behind starting this organization?
Tyrannosaurus Tech was born out of our disappointment in seeing so many cool new tech products fail, whether they were launched by startups or more established companies looking to innovate.

Although a great product is important, true success is about so much more. Our team understands this reality and has a unique blend of technical and business expertise that allows Tyrannosaurus Tech to serve as a true strategic technology partner for our clients.

Tyrannosaurus Tech is not just focused on designing and building our clients something amazing but also on how to get that product into the hands of paying customers (and keep it there).
What are your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors/ outsourcing?
Tyrannosaurus Tech utilizes both our full-time team of employees and a broad team of proven contractors to help us expand our bandwidth and skillset.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
Our team provides both strategic expertise and the technical skills needed to bring new SaaS products to market successfully. That means not only do we work with you to design and develop a great product, but we lend valuable expertise on various topics that are crucial to your product’s long term success.
What industries do you generally cater to? Are your customers repetitive? If yes, what ratio of clients has been repetitive to you?
Most of our work these days is in healthcare, public health, or education space. Yes, we do have repetitive clients who have worked with us on multiple projects, and several we’ve been working with for years.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
The timeline for developing a mobile app depends on a couple of factors. One would be the overall scope and complexity of the app. The more complex is the app, and the more the features it has, the more effort is required to build the app. Another important factor would be how the project is staffed, which may depend on budget. Naturally, a project with more developers can typically build out an app more quickly than a project with fewer developers. Finally, the design process plays an important role, as well. When our team is handling the design research, UX, and UI design process, we want to be incredibly thorough to ensure we’re building an intuitive app that solves a real problem for users. This takes time and iteration.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile app?
This varies depending on the application. Some apps have complex front-ends but fairly simple back-ends and vice versa.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
The most important things to consider would be what devices your users are likely to use, how much your app utilizes the phone’s hardware and OS, the eventual size of your user base, the functionality you envision, etc.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
We typically recommend ReactNative, a cross-platform framework that allows our team to build a mobile app codebase that will run on both Android and iOS devices.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
We typically recommend ReactNative, a cross-platform framework that allows our team to build a mobile app codebase that will run on both Android and iOS devices.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
Our team essentially considers the complexity of the app and the scope of the features, which will impact the level of effort for both the design and development of the application.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions etc.)
We work with our client to create a detailed project scope and an estimate for the overall cost and time required. Ultimately, we bill hourly to accommodate for any scope or prioritization changes, but we typically fall within the range we estimated at the outset of the project.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
The minimum budget for designing and developing a new application would be $30,000.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2018?
The range would generally be $30,000 up to several hundred thousand dollars.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
I can’t answer this without understanding their business, users, and goals associated with the app.
