Initially, we tried to build the software with our developers. After 2 years of time and money, all we had was a blob of useless code. We wanted to rebuild the platform with a different team. We reached out to InventorSoft in search of quality developers that could do so.
They completed the monumental task of building out everything on our flagship platform. To do this, they used open source technologies like JavaScript, Angular, and a Postgres backend. Everything was built on Google Cloud with OAuth 2.0 used for authentication. With our engagement extended, they upgraded and performed ongoing maintenance to the platform. They’re currently building more software products for us.

I’m the founder and CEO of Daly Energy, a solar software company. We build software models used for solar power plants. InventorSoft helped us develop our web application. I provided them with very little to start with, but they’ve been very good at coaching us and setting up an ecosystem appropriate for software development. There has been a little bit of training and guidance from their side as well. For example, they’ve taught me how to use Figma and other tools.
The application that they created is a very graphical collaborative workspace. It has a lot of figures, charts, and graphs, and its purpose is to serve as a very sophisticated calculator. The technology stack includes React, Java for the backend, and PostgreSQL for the database.

Client Goals

JUMiNGO partnered with InventorSoft to strategically enhance its platform, focusing primarily on significant front-end improvements to optimize user interaction and overall website performance. Also, we needed to rectify coding errors and network issues, leading to notable improvements in performance and user experience.

Our Solution

- App Performance We found several places where the code was written incorrectly. Specifically, the platform loaded too much data, causing the site to lag. To address this, we refactored the code. - Network Throttling We reconfigured the network so that it made fewer requests for backup, thus reducing the amount of time a user would have to wait. - Migration We migrated the platform from Vue 2 to Vue 3, thus improving speed even further. - SEO We carefully optimized the SEO settings, including the site’s metadata, meta description, and meta title. - Acceleration of Performance Lighthouse Chunks are pieces of files that are loaded as they are used. To increase performance, we reduced their size so that they were able to load correctly. We also optimized all other file-loading processes. - User Management We created a page specifically for authorization as well as a dashboard page displaying user status, invoices, and options for support - CMS Conversion We ensured that the PM could construct the necessary components while also converting them into HTML. - Cookie Banner Development We developed a versatile cookie banner that can be easily integrated across multiple internal websites. It maintains a consistent design and behavior on all platforms. With a single setup, changes made to the banner automatically update everywhere, eliminating the need for additional coding and ensuring a uniform user experience. - Switch Support from Web Pack to Vite Vite and Webpack are very powerful build tools catering to distinct needs in modern JavaScript development. Vite emphasizes rapid development and build speeds, which are ideal for projects leveraging native ESM support. - Server Side Rendering The JUMINGO website is set to implement server-side rendering to streamline content delivery from the backend, aiming to enhance user experience by reducing visual disruptions and loading inconsistencies. This upcoming SSR implementation is expected to boost efficiency and optimize site speed and engagement.

Results

By addressing inefficiencies in the code that led to excessive data loading, the platform's performance has been markedly improved, eliminating lag and enhancing responsiveness. Performance acceleration was achieved by reducing the size of file chunks and optimizing file-loading processes, ensuring smoother and faster access to resources. Finally, the enhancements in user management have streamlined the user experience, providing a more cohesive and functional interface for handling personal information and support needs. Collectively, these upgrades have transformed the platform into a more efficient, user-friendly tool.

Observe is a robust observational assessment tool that was designed primarily for high-stake clinical skills assessment, such as Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE, pronounced OSKEE) and Multi-Mini-Interviews (MMIs) for admission tests. These tools use video integration, making it possible to have a remote face-to-face interaction between the interviewers/examiners and the candidates. Besides data collection and recording of results, Observe also has features that enable psychometric analysis, multi-examiner / multi-location, and direct feedback delivery.

Our client tasked us with building the remote video parts of the examination analysis of the software. The main application of this tool was to make the remote assessment of medical students as seamless as possible and fully compatible with the on-site examinations. So, we had to build a tool that examiners, simulated patients/actors, and candidates can easily use without going through a lot of hassle.

The primary idea behind Cloud Defense is to check and find any vulnerabilities in client projects. This tool scans the code of projects, all dependencies that are used in the project (libraries), docker containers, and API for vulnerabilities. The benefit of this application is that it can be installed on your local computer or the cloud using the command-line interface (CLI).


So, whether your project is on your local machine or the cloud, you can still use cloud defense to scan for any vulnerabilities that it may contain. The commands used to install cloud defense vary based on the operating system you are running. Cloud Defense is supported by all the major operating systems, that is, Windows, macOS, and Linux.

With this project, the client tasked us with supporting and improving the functionalities that already existed. We were also supposed to undertake the implementation of the new scanning functionalities and support for other services and customer bases. All these features were to be implemented while considering ease of use for all the application's target users.

The most common service that we deliver is IT outstaffing when we provide our clients with developers to work directly under their manager/product owner. Also, we have technical expertise. We are working mostly with Java, .Net, and Node.js on the backend, and Angular, React, and Vue.js on the frontend.
What is your customer satisfaction rate according to you? What steps do you take to cater to your customer’s needs and requirements?
Our HR Business partners enquire about feedback and client needs every month, just to make sure that we are providing the best service possible.

Our NPS is 66% according to the latest survey that we sent to our customers.
What kind of support system do you offer to your clients for catering to their queries and issues?
We designate HR Business partners for each client. HR Business Partner is responsible for solving any issues that may happen with developers or clients. Also, as a CTO I'm glad to consult our clients about technical questions if it’s needed or if we face some problems. Our company can help not only with development but with design, testing, and project management as well. Moreover, we are providing some clients with specific professionals, such as marketers, researchers, lead generators, etc. We are trying to cooperate and help our clients as much as possible.

Also in terms of successful cooperation, we are transparent about our goals and issues which developers are mentioning. We would definitely shout if we saw that project is moving in the wrong direction.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients? Is it Pay per Feature, Fixed Cost, Pay per Milestone (could be in phases, months, versions, etc.)
We are working with 3 different pricing models.
  • Fixed price - we work under this model when the client has clear and detailed requirements and has a limited budget for the project.
  • Time & Material  (Hourly based model) - this model is mostly used for short-term and midterm projects when the client isn’t sure about his future plans.
  • Monthly - the most cost-effective model, which is used for long-term cooperation with clients. In this model, we cut our commissions, but expect a long notice period from the client. Frequently we use a Cost+ model when we share developers’ salaries, overhead, and our commission.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement? If no, on what minimum budget you have worked for?
We aim to work on long-term projects, therefore the minimum budget that we are interested in starts from 10,000 $. However, it’s enough to take 1 developer full-time to start working with us.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2021?
The minimum project budget was 10, 000 $, and the maximum project cost 500, 000$.
