As a CEO and co-founder at Konstant Infosolutions, I am responsible for making corporate decisions and I make sure that each of the employees working here is empowered with right resources, right team, encouraging them to build cutting-edge creations as and how the clients want.
What is your company’s business model–in house team or third party vendors / outsourcing?
Our business model is strictly in-house, consisting of a staff of over 170 professionals adroit in their areas of work. For each process of project development and project management, we have a solely dedicated team of skilled resources and no work at all is mixed up. Each task is assigned to the appropriate person. There are independent teams of Project managers, Business Developers, Business Analysts, Programmers (separate for Android, iOS and Web), Designers and Quality Analysts to take care of each project.
How is your business model beneficial from a value addition perspective to the clients compared to other companies' models?
With so many app development and IT project management companies out there, it won’t be right to claim that we are the best. But yes, we hold that exception that delivers value to clients and their customers:
- First and foremost is our Project Management process. It is highly organized and well implemented at each phase.
- Second is that we are purely an in-house company with all teams and professionals working at one place. We don’t have to suffer time delays, mismanaged work and do not have to keep bugging to any outsource developers. The work never stops, which always help us adhere to our timelines and achieve our goals.
- We believe that communication is the key to any business and thus, we keep the clients updated about the project’s progress regularly on Skype calls, video calls, via emails.
On the whole, our main aim is to create everything customer-centric that offers a rich User Experience, and for all this, we need to involve our clients in the process for regular inputs and feedback on what we are working.
Mention the objectives or the parameters critical in determining the time frame of developing a mobile app.
The parameters that affect app development time include:
- Identifying and analyzing project requirements
- Deciding the project flow and communicating to different teams-design, development
- UI and UX
- Custom requirements
- Complexity of the app
- Creating estimates
- Number of screens
- Third-party integrations
- Core development
- Number and type of devices it will need to run
- Operating system (Android and iOS)
- Iterative development and testing
- Deployment and Release
And there are many other factors depending upon the type of app a business owner wants to develop. Also, a blend of right focused objectives helps the company achieve the targets at right time. At Konstant, we are upfront with clients and mention the time estimates only after a comprehensive self-analysis and project analysis envisioning the risks and challenges that may occur during the project development. The Project manager separately discusses the project with each of the teams and individuals involved in a project before proposing any timelines.
How much effort in terms of time goes into developing the front end and back end of a mobile application?
Like I said, it totally depends on the type of app and the kind of customization a client expects to see in the app. One thing to consider here is that the more experienced and experts the developers are, the lesser time it takes in the front-end and back-end development. And Konstant is lucky with its team, we deliver well on time as promised to the client.
What are the key parameters to be considered before selecting the right platform for a mobile application?
The key parameters include geographical location, device type, the target audience, the market, the type of the app, screen size, what kind of third-party integrations does your project require like adding of maps, video or audio processing, any platform-specific UI if needed, the budget and the time frame.
Which platform do you suggest your clients to begin with when they approach you with an idea (Android or iOS) and why?
Clients today are smart with a technical acumen. They approach us with a prior research on what kind of app they want to build, on what platform and with what features. They are very clear with their choices and preferences. They know whether they want, an Android or iOS app. Speaking of which, our team assists them further with the right overall approach that will be suitable for their project and help them achieve their end goal. Based on the product itself, the budget and the time frame suggested by the client, our team of Project Managers, designers and developers suggest the best feasible solutions that are capable of providing maximum visibility on mobile screens and generating high revenue and profits.
Both technologies are excellent and in many of our projects, we have observed that the clients who come to us for getting an Android app built in the first place do visit us again for an iPhone app after two months or so.
Clearly, the market shares of both Android and iPhone are at its peak; only the first and second positions keep swapping, which means that having a mobile app for both operating systems is a major demand for every business in every industry.
Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
The answer lies in the client’s expectations from the app, their cost and time limitations. While all combinations- Native-Android, Native-iOS and Hybrid are much in demand, the choice is based on the monetizing potential of the app, target audience and version updates to the platform. After listening to the client’s app idea and requirements, Konstant team members get down to brass and tacks to understand the unique needs of every organization and every project and then propose the best way to transform their idea into reality. Since our professionals very well understand the differences between a native app and a hybrid app- the pluses and negatives, they come up with 100% profitable and reliable solutions.
What are the key factors that you consider before deciding the cost of a mobile application?
Planning a budget is one of the primary moves. As each app is unique and productive in its own way, many of our clients struggle with getting their arms around the cost and scope of their mobile app projects.
Being a business owner myself, I firmly believe that one should be at least prepared with a budget business plan, for that, it is important to consider- the size of your app project, app functionality and purpose, number of screens, mobile platform, device supported, points of integration, use of visual objects, phone hardware features to be used and a maintenance plan. However, most times, a project always has to break that Management Iron Triangle involving cost, time and scope (requirement) to maintain the quality of the product. To design something quickly and high standard, clients have to invest a little more. Also, there are many times that features and scope requirements change in between the product development, that is the time, the cost etc.
But no worries at all, with extensive experience in app development, Konstant Infosolutions has always met customer expectations understanding their budget constraints. In fact, the team suggests the right cost to be invested in order to gain a final app product that they always wished for.
What kind of payment structure do you follow to bill your clients?
Simply put, we segregate our payment terms on % basis over the course of the project rather than taking 100% at the end of the project. So we follow a pay per milestone approach and receive payments after each phase of completion of the project. These phases are informed to clients well in advance and we are upfront with the pricing estimates as soon as the project starts. In fact, pay per milestone is also convenient for our clients.
Do you take in projects which meet your basic budget requirement? If yes, what is the minimum requirement?
Yes, of course. Since we manage our own in-house process, we do have basic budget requirements. For us, a minimum fixed budget quote must range between $15,000- $20,000 for mobile app development, which may go beyond based on client’s requirement changes and technology used. While for web design, it must be $7,000 at least.
At the same time, if we find an app idea to be interesting (something we haven’t done ever before and can be a value addition to our portfolio) and we identify that little shift from our payments policies won’t disturb our expenses, we definitely move ahead by discussing the project with the client.
What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2015?
The minimum and maximum price ranges for last year projects were almost the same as we expect from our clients in the current year.
Which business model do you suggest to your clients enabling them to generate revenue from mobile applications? Why?
While we have expertise in catering to all major segments of users through our mobile app development skills, our focus remains to suggest a business model (considering the type of platform, device type, app budget, time constraints) that offers a seamless user experience, serving a real-time purpose or need. Because such a model can only guarantee a good number of downloads, high ROI and profit generation for the clients.
We propose models that can help businesses monetize their app, which is the ultimate aim of developing a mobile app for every organization. In-app purchases, referral programs, social media integration, multi-channel catering, easy and quick payments supporting trending methods like PayPal, mobile wallets are a few to mention elements we use for increasing the app’s credibility.
